That's Zhao Liying. One of the most popular actress in China, but a bit older so new generations of cdrama fans might not be as familiar with her but definitely have a solid fanbase in China. I started to fall in love in cdrama because of her Journey of the Flowers, Princess Agents, and story of Ming Lan. These dramas may no longer be the best nowadays considering the imrpovement in CGIs and less fillers, but at that time back in 2014/ 2015 these dramas are definitely a hit. (Alongst with Ten Miles of Peach Blossom haha). More recently, after giving birth, she has been doing slice of life so less people are watching her especially for the international audience.

Anyway, how time flies, now I am also loving the newer batch of actresses such as our dear bai lu, dilreba, zhao lusi, etc.

@FILOfretka Maybe you are new to the cdrama. She basically brought xianxia to popularity even outside china with her successive success with Journey of the Flower and Princess Agents. Might not be the best xianxia drama anymore nowadays coz they definitely improved with CGI and less fillers now, but her dramas have helped bring xianxia to new heights of popularity in the last decade. It's her xianxia dramas that actually got me into Cdramas in the 2010-2015 time. Princess Agent is honestly very good if only they didnt butcher the second half and actually finish the novel plot. She also can act well. I agree that she is not considered to be the typical beauty in China, same as Yang Zi. So kudos to them for being able to break through.

And i have seen several of these malicious accusations all around internet coz the more popular the actress/actors, the more haters they have. and i dont know if any of those are real. As a foreign viewer, my stance is we will never know the truth. With how much money is involved in chinese film industry, there is definitely a lot of shady stuff happening all around our favorite actors and actresses. But unless proven, i will give all these artists a chance. so Ill just happily watch all the dramas I am interested in and enjoy my time. Lol aint no time to be stressed in their business. Afterall, i watch dramas so I can have a good time. 🤷🏻

Wait what? What is happening to cdrama lately. Agree with @bubbleNSqueak that it seems that cancellations and delays became so much frequent now. All the efforts of actors and crew can be gone just like that. Social media can be really scary too

I hope iqiyi heat index improves coz damn the drama deserves it. The hate for the drama and ycy acting was so overboard. May not be the best actress but she improved A LOT. If you’re planning to watch this but got dissuaded due to biased reviews, dont listen to haters. The start was a bit jarring but a few episodes in and you’ll get attached. YCY acting doesnt really become distracting, may not be the best but not bad at all. I hope her fans in china are showing her enough love so she doesnt get depressed from all this controversy.

Why do you think they decided to air MJTY before SOKP? I'm really scared the hype for SOKP will go down because of the delay just like all the other delayed dramas. I am not an avid fan, but I feel like she is getting so much hate compared to other idol actresses who is at the same caliber of acting skills as her. It's like a successful bandwagon campaign to hate her acting. No matter how much she improves, unless she suddenly improves to be the goddess of acting, her haters will say its so bad and successfully propagate the belief so that even nonhaters believe that it is terrible, when in fact it is just like some of the popular idol's acting skills (wont name drop). Difference is they dont get as much hate. I feel bad for her coz it's going to be so hard to change public's opinion now that she became branded as a bad actress. I feel its a bit different with her other dramas because the controversy now is more well known?? Plus she seems heartbroken, I hope she doesnt stop acting coz how can she improe if she stops. I also really hope she do not pick childish almost annoying characters in the future, coz that makes hater say more even tho that’s what the character is calling for.

I hope she stays strong, continues to strive to improve in her work, and be popular so those people can eat their words. I hope the mean words will not affect her negatively but instead push her forward to improve her skills and prove them wrong. Fighting!
