The vomiting of blood in xianxia with stress and anger, for me, is acceptable. But even in historical palace drama they do this also. At this point, it could be a meme😅

I was initially thinking of dehydration too, but I think it was mentioned (now im confused if it was mentioned in the novel only or was also told in the drama) that his symptoms for "dementia" resolves with blood. 😅

There's a twitter post about cnetz saying that her dramas are popular even though she is not a traffic star and many people were shocked why she is still not considered a traffic star. I honestly dont know why she is still not considered traffic considering she is always trending and has many advertisements. But im okay with it since the term traffic star also has negative connotation. 🤷🏻 She can definitely back up her popularity with solid acting skills

Its okay. :) I actually enjoy reading novels, so I would want to have the opportunity to read the novel version of this. But I guess for now, I'll just enjoy this drama and patiently wait for the translation for the novel to finish. :)

Some random thoughts on cdramaland

As a medical student, sometimes, its so funny to me how a historical drama that is not xianxia/fantasy portrays illnesses that is not a real illness for dramatic effect. Like damn, what illness actually gets treated by drinking blood? 😅 Is he a vampire? And why would they translate it to dementia, I agree that it would be closer to schizo but since it's also not treated with blood, they could have just invented some random name 😅. (The translation of royal highness for viscount yan lin is also inaccurate and confusing.) Good thing, this is semi-fantasy because of the rebirth trope. 👌

It happens throughout cdramaland. One most common scenario would be the treatment with just acupuncture. I know its a real practice but they definitely dont get better with just acupuncture in a few days when they look half dead before that hahahaha

I guess if we can suspend our belief of them literally flying in fight scenes even in non-xianxia historical dramas, then lets just suspend our beliefs on the reality of these illnesses too😅

I just finished a rewatch of this, but some parts of this really reminds me of Rebirth of Malicious empress (novel). Still different but some parts just reminded me of it. Is it just me?

I know I saw it just recently too. I can already imagine the boost in popularity to whoever gets casted to both drama but more so for RoaMEoML (damn thats long haha), especially if the script, directing, production, casting, set and costume is done right. The novel is very, very popular, i heard. But they said that the one who bought the rights for RoaMEoML is having financial difficulties so not sure when we are seeing this.

If done right (casting, production, script, directing, set, costume), I can already imagine the boost in popularity the actress and actor will have after airing since this a very very popular novel. However, I really cannot imaging who would be the perfect actress and actor for this. For the FL, she needs to be young or young looking, pretty but not so pretty, and carries herself in a dignified manner that even only by walking in a room, people get awed by her empress aura. She also needs the acting caliber to portray all her nuances from innocence, sadness, fear, regret to intelligence, aggressiveness, angriness, and killing intent. That would mean she would have to be relatively new or have just started acting very young, but would have solid acting skills, and have great diction. I really cant imagine who. Even I cannot recommend my favorite actresses 😅

For the ML, he has to be exceedingly beautiful but also masculine, has to be able to express minute facial expressions since he will portray a mysterious man at the beginning.


On another thought, somee of the scenarios in LLTG is kinda similar to this novel that I got reminded of this novel while watching that. I was just surprised. But still diffetent in a lot of ways.

This novel is old, but the trope continues to exist. The novel is definitely way more popular both local (as I've heard) and internationl (since this is fully translated by fan translations)

I've been a bit busy lately but got revived due to succeeding airing of OFL, SOKP, LIP, and WOL. Haha why they do this to us. They give us drought but now I dont know how to catch up to all these dramas.

I am a big fan of Rebirth of Malicious Empress of Military Lineage except for the last arc of the story which kinda dragged. But damn the start was so satisfying and the ML was just swoon worthy even though romance was slow burn. It might be really really difficult for me to imagine any actresses today that would suit the young image, pretty but not so pretty but looks dignified like an empress, who also have the acting caliber to portray all of Shen Miao's nuances. I guess this is also why it would be difficult to cast a perfect actress as JXN. Even if Jing Tian or Zhao Liying, the actresses you have mentioned who I also loved, would most likely receive some complaints.
Nonetheless, I'm glad I am not Chinese so I dont really get distracted with the enunciation. But Bailu and ZLH is new to dubbing especially since it is only recently passed that actors should dub for themselves or else they would pay for a dubber. I hope they can train more. As young actors and actresses, there will always be room to grow. :)

He actually suits the role. The bad boy, gray character is believable with him compared to a lot of actors I have watched. That jaw line alone scream fierceness and masculinity. 😍

I didnt know the novel was popular. Why havent fan translation translated the novel fully. 🥺 I just cant mtl historical lightnovel. Its giving me headache to mtl😅
