There was an interview by yang zi where she said that actors and actresses are not all knowing. once they get freedom to choose their own script, they mostly go with gut feeling. I think bai lu has mentioned she also just choose based on gut feeling and instincts. I feel like she chose this because of familiarity with the director and production team, but who would have known that the script would be butchered up to this level. 🤦♀️ The premise with the novel was the same but the minute changes in the script added a distasteful sub-context to the interactions and relationships of the characters. the novel itself was not perfect and got some criticism because of fl behavior but they made it even worse in the drama. i can understand why people, even fans of the cast, are disappointed.
i used to think it was a shame they aired sokp and ofl at the same time, but i think it became helpful for bailu because if it was only ofl that is airing i can already imagine the antis attacking left and right with criticisms. and there wouldnt be sokp as buffer
anyway, drama is still fairly enjoyable because it is romcom but really mediocre. and if not for the cast, likely wouldnt be as popular. I personally finished it for the cast and the last 6 eps was fun and sweet. :))
I didnt know bai lu was such a scaredy cat. 2nd ep was too funny. Love the interactions between casts so far. I hope they were able to maintain the friendship even a year now after filming.

Especially the start. They just have similar circumstances. Military parents left her to be stationed at the border. Her other relatives maltreat her. Difference is her parents in ROMEOML is nicer and loving compared to her mom in LLTG. They both also scheme their way to revenge on her family. ROMEOML is just more savage. Both ML has hidden identity but with different set up. I love the King in LLTG but in ROTMEOML the current imperial family are antagonists. While watching the first episodes, I was thinking the scriptwriters were probably inspired by ROTMEOML. The story is different enough but some scenes and the vibe are just really reminescent of malicious empress

Before, I dont mind spoilers, but not I realized that’s it’s taking away some of my enjoyment. Done minimally in just the right moment and scenes, this camerawork could add tension and emotion to a scene. but then several times could be distracting and would take away the impact it could have had if done just a few times. I think the director only to needs to know moderation and discernment on when this effects, lighting and camerawork are actually needed 😅
