I agree. The FL being a fan of him as the idol killed any interest I had in the romance. Why couldn't they remove that part from her character and just be a lawyer trying to help prove his innocence. I rolled my eyes when they have the met as children trope.
I dropped this after 5 episodes. I'm a bit sad since I was excited for this after seeing a clip of the couple. Nothing much really stands out besides the actors looking wonderful. It just felt like a typical modern romance Cdrama with the usual tropes.
I dropped this after 5 episodes. I saw how people loved this so my expectations were high plus I wanted to watch this because I saw a clip of the couple. But after 5 episodes, I don't feel anything. The game plot felt underwhelming and boring for me. Take that away and it just feels like a typical modern romance drama especially for a Cdrama. Just like you mention those tropes already piled up. I couldn't help but slowly laugh when I saw they gave the ML the trauma plot. From what I saw, i think this is beloved because of beauty of the couple and probably their chemistry. The plot just felt boring to me
I dropped this after 5 episodes. The game plot bored me and everything else feels like what you said a typical romance drama. The only reason I see why this is hyped and loved is because the actors are freaking gorgeous
Such a big emotional ride but great storytelling. It also showcases the main villain Sang Qi as a big threat to take serious.
It was very breathtaking watching the the hero get beat up from the villain this early and failing to save his love. Some scenes I admire were how some of the blood from Xie Xue Chen splatters onto the face of his love Mu Xuan Ling, Mu Xuan Ling being dragged away helpless watching her love getting beaten up, Mu Xuan Ling stabbing Xie Xue Chen and lying to him with a harsh confession so Sang Qi didn't kill him there, the quick shot of a teardrop coming through Mu Xan Ling's eye after she does this, and Sang Qi kicking a crawling Xie Xue Chen in the stomach far back preventing him from reaching the hands of Mu Xan Ling.
I really loved this movie and was gonna give it a 10/10....... until like the last 20 minutes of the movie.
I think the movie should have just ended with a scene of her realizing to like herself with the curly hair and that there is someone who likes her that way instead of changing her appearance for some guy.. I would have ended it with something like after she learns she doesn't like the other guy/learns to love herself, we get a dramatic run scene where she runs to find the ML and confesses to him.
The 30 minutes left of the film felt like a mess or rushed. It's mentioned earlier on that the ML and her mother moved to the smaller town to move away from her abusive husband. It's not mentioned if she got a divorce or not. But the plot that splits up the leads after they became a couple was that his mom went to Seoul suddenly and the ML receives a call that his mother is in the hospital. It's implied that she was beaten by her abusive husband who is in the hospital room. He somewhat threatens his son to come back home. His mother tells her son they may have to move to America with her sister to escape. So like why doesn't she consult with a lawyer first tho.
The FL goes to Seoul to the hospital and overhears the conversation with him and his mother about moving and sees him crying about not wanting to move. She later sends a message on his pager to break up with him so it's easier for him to move. There's a time skip maybe like 1 to 2 years later. She's on the beach and receives a call from him and he appears behind her on the beach living happily but how. They reunite and movie ends.
It's never explained what happened to his abusive father and how the ML returned. So all that was to split up the couple so they could have a happy reunion for the end. If they had just cut the length of the movie or end it with her learning to love herself with the curly hair and confess to the ML, it would have been a great movie for me.
Its just missing some details like why his mother went to seoul and how he managed to get back to busan when they…
But you have to admit, that was bad writing towards the end of the movie. He returns from America probably and is living happier. But they never explain how he and his mother dealt with their abusive husband/father. That character was the big reason why the leads split up and then skip over it like nothing emotional happened to the ML. There were better ways to have them split up then reunite for the final scene of the movie than this.
Did I miss the scene where they mentioned how they resolved the problem with Yun-seok's dad at the end? Or did…
No you didn't miss anything. I have no idea what the writers were doing to put in that sudden plot near the end and no explanation to how it was resolved. The writing towards the end was so bad I kept telling myself yikes. It was all rushed with the stuff about his abusive father, him leaving to America?, and him returning happy now.
So far I'm really enjoying how the FL is flirty/teasing with the ML. She's strong while he's currently weak. I wish we'd get more dramas with this flirty type of a FL
The FL was just unbearable and awful. She didn't bother to check her phone which was a call from her daughter who was kidnapped because she was busy negotiating a drug deal for cash with the chaebol. Then Kim Young Kwang's character literally went to save her daughter from being killed. She did not deserve to be a mother after this. I never understood how people were shipping the leads together.
I had this drama on hold for couple years and coincidentally enough the next episode I had to watch was episode 14 where the reveal happen. As you mentioned in your review, I do agree with you about the way she reacted to the truth made me upset. Now I wish I didn't try to finish this drama again .
I think this is an unpopular opinion but I did not enjoy the romance in this show and wished there wasn't any. I would have been fine with slight romance or just teasing it. I also didn't like the team/family aspect of the company. Then the biggest issue I have that made me drop the drama was how very annoying the Pyo family company were.
