Hi againðŸ¤, how can it be a xianxia without leads who are good at poor communication. I think, since she never…
Hi -shyly hides behind the wall and waves-
Even though this one had pretty bad editing that sometimes left me confused I really liked it overall, I also really like that one song that was kind of YingYuan's theme song and that played when he went down to the mortal world (and ended up attacked and falling from the sky). Don't remember what it's called since it's been so long. Indeed, what is a xianxia without miscommunication, misunderstandings, self sacrifice, and last minute happy endings xD
Oh, but just to be sure, I do still like Yan Dan I just saw she wasn't quite ready for the responsibility a relationship with him would bring. And of course YuMo is great as well, love the friendship the three of them develop. I'm also a fan of Yang Zi and Cheng Yi so I'm sure that helped haha
You really understood BaiJue so better. He was the most hurt during the entire time. But apparently it looks like…
I do wish they explained other stuff and showed us more, I really would have liked them to flesh out the characters more. I was most invested in the relationship between BaiJue and TianQi, but I really liked Zhiyang as well. Wish there was more about their friendship and how they grew up together. Oh, and XuanYi too, it would have been nice to see his relationship with the others and if they were really close before he found out he was meant to be a sacrifice. So many things I want to know but never will, guess I'll just have to make it up T-T

First off, thank you for being nice, I weirdly have a major phobia when it comes to commenting so I won't normally do it, but every once in a while I will as a form of therapy/torture.
Second, I was kind of confused about the him dying thing because when he merged with QM and was talking to Gu Jun and was all "I understand QM's pain the most" he had mentioned to Gu Jun that he (BJ) was dying anyway so I thought irreparable damage had been done, but it was never mentioned again so now I wonder if something was wrong with the subs.
Someone else made an interesting note about the reason why everyone feels bad for SG/HC but hates BJ and that's because with her they show us all the pain and suffering she's going through, while with him it all happens off screen and we're only told about it. For instance, the gap of 60,000 years, we don't see him mourning her, gathering wisps of her soul, trying to revive her, tearing himself in half for her. All the various things he does for her and his suffering over so many years is never actually shown, we may get glimpses, but they hardly count for anything. When he comes back and acts cold to her and tries to separate himself from her, we pretty much only see how it affects her and not how it affects him or what he's thinking, it's mostly from her perspective. So I appreciate that person because it helped me understand why people were struggling to empathize with him, we were never really shown his perspective.
I also must be in the minority and have also probably been desensitized, but I didn't overly find his actions once he was back to be that cruel. (Other dramas they have the ML/FL say and do such horrible things in the name of protection or because of a misunderstanding that this one didn't really phase me. I'm looking at you Grape from Ashes, I'm still mad at you. There were others but can't think of them off the top of my head) He didn't say anything overly mean or attack her, he just took a very hard stance that the one that loved her was QM and not him, they were separate people so they also needed to go their separate ways. I don't agree with him marrying the princess as a means to get her to give up, but I do recognize he's emotionally stunted and used the tools he had available to him. (Look at poor baby him being raised by the ancestor god, that jerk, he's the real problem. Don't make a sentient being whose sole purpose is to die, make a weapon or something jeez.) He was also blindsided by the situation and his plan going so far off course and would have been killed by Wu Huan and so would the others if he had let it slip he was actually very weak upon his revival and needed time to grow his power. Which was another reason he was cold, he simply couldn't protect HC, he didn't have the capability. Sorry, this is long, one more thing. People were mad that he took away her memories as HC as if he was purposely trying to make her not hate him and keep her from knowing how he'd wronged her, but that was just a side effect, his real purpose was to erase her memories of the chaos trial so that she wouldn't try and sacrifice again. Everything up to that point needed to be erased, so he sadly had to erase HC too at least temporarily until he finished his task.
I'd say he tried his best with his limited EQ. Him and SG had spent hardly any time together in the God realm by their standards before it all went downhill and she had only just started thawing him. He really needed more time being taught tenderness and getting a chance to properly develop their relationship. From the beginning he was always secretly sacrificing himself for her, it's the only form of love he knew thanks to the ancient God. He needed some therapy. I really wonder how his relationship with the other two gods was, they seemed to mostly leave him to his own devices/solitude without really trying to get him to come out even though I could tell they really cared for him. And were they all the same age? It would have been nice if he could have had a proper parental figure like SG got as well as some spoiling, but it doesn't seem like he did, so then I wonder if the other gods did to some degree? Since they weren't as cold and closed off as him.
Sorry this was so long, had too much to say! Thank you for reading if you made it this far lol
You know something that annoyed me with this one? It's that I couldn't help but think that Yan Dan was too immature for this love, she wasn't ready and was still very young. I'm talking about when they were still in the God realm, not what happened afterwards. That feeling was even worse because when I watched it everyone was bashing the ML. My thoughts: the ML after the war was horribly injured and was waiting to die, he didn't want to live anymore. All his friends died, he was very old himself, and he was tired and just wanted to die in peace. If he was young and they already developed a strong relationship that would have been one thing, but the poor guy was ancient and tired of fighting as the God of war and I felt he deserved to rest. I don't consider death to be a bad thing in that kind of instance. I felt it was quite selfish of her to keep him alive against his wishes, especially since it involved sacrificing herself which he was adamantly against. So then she saves him, that's fine, and then the poor guy is thrown back into his role that he wants nothing to do with and all the responsibilities as well. She gets mad that he doesn't acknowledge their love, but it's literally illegal and she would have died from the punishment. She already was badly injured from saving him (which he didn't want in the first place) so he was trying to avoid anything worse happening to her. She lets her sister lie about her being the one to save him, and then gets upset when he goes along with it, and yet he only did so because YD didn't stop her, but he tried so many times to let her know he knew it was actually her and not the sister. He was only trying to respect her wishes by not outing the sister. Eventually she ends up shouting to the world that she loved him and killing herself??? He was never in a position of freedom and she knew that. She was guilting him about her heart sacrifice, but he never wanted it. Poor guy was forced to stay alive while dealing with PTSD just for a bunch of heartache and because of her selfish decision. I say she was immature because she let her emotions get to her head and ignored his position, and the fact that them being in love in the open would have killed her and horribly injured him. And as far as I can tell, hardly any time had passed in the God realm once he was back, so it all happened very fast and she was just so impulsive. A more mature decision to me would have been for her to take a deep breath and see what he's trying to secretly tell her, and they could have exchanged information in secret and kept their relationship a secret while trying to change the laws so that they could eventually openly see each other. Of course, then there would be a completely different story, but they could have thrown different angst in. And it's even worse because the laws did change and they would have been potentially fine depending on what would have happened with the "emperor". I'm actually pretty curious to see what could have happened with that, oh well. I just really didn't like how people in the comments were only bashing him where I watched it. I felt they both didn't make the best choices and communication was important, but I also understood the restraints he was under and that she was not. Being highly empathetic can be annoying, I always understand everyone's side (unless it's truly unreasonable like in the case of some villains) and get confused/upset when others don't. Remember, empathizing isn't excusing, it's understanding. I just felt like I needed to defend him a little even though I watched this a year ago lol. Makes me want to read the novel and see if things go down differently.
I don't normally do this, but I must be in a mood, long comment incoming:
You know, upon re-watching this I felt really bad for Bai Jue. Of course Shang Gu too, but BJ really hit me hard and he's who I want to talk about. I don't know if I realized this the first time since it's been a few years, but I was probably a little upset with him when he took over Qing Mu, but this time the tragedy really hit me. He didn't have a good start to life in the first place, none of the spoiling or care that ShangGu got, and then after everything happened with her death, he managed to give a new life to ShangGu as Hou Chi and cared for her in a familial way. Meanwhile he was planning to die the entire time, to split himself up and cultivate the chaos power which would destroy him even if he didn't sacrifice himself. In other words, he'd die no matter what (from my understanding). The reason I see it as extra tragic is because he was planning to quietly walk off to his doom with only Gu Jun knowing what happened. Qing Mu was never supposed to exist, he was never meant to find Hou Chi, they were never meant to fall in love. Hou Chi was supposed to have a happy existence never knowing who he was, but everything went wrong and Qing Mu popped out. When he had to reabsorb him and put QM and HC through so much pain, pain that was never supposed to happen, and then all the following pain from BJ making HC/SG hate him. It was just so sad, she was never supposed to know and that was his actual plan, so the one he ended up implementing once he merged with QM and realized what happened while he was asleep that caused them both so much pain because he could no longer turn back, he'd already destroyed himself for her....sigh. I just felt really bad for him. I could just imagine the turmoil he was going through and couldn't be mad at him for his cruelty this time. 60,000+ years of planning on his part to give her a happy life free from the responsibility of being the God of Chaos really went right out the window. Even if he was honest and kind to her once he came back, she would have either tried to die again instead of him, or die with him, and he didn't spend all that time saving her for that to happen. I know this is a common theme in these dramas, and whoever dies first won't die last (if the ML dies first then gets revived then the FL will die in the end and vice versa, mostly quite predictable), but this one hit extra hard because she wasn't supposed to know and he planned for so long just to end up hurting her horribly anyway. I always hate when they push the one they love away "for their own good" by being cruel, but this time felt different than the usual plot. Still hated it, but it made more sense to me in this instance.
You know, part of the problem with this show is that killing people crosses too many people's bottom line, and the public nature of the executions leaves it open for copycats and criminals to take it over. That's why I really liked how this concept was done in Joker Yurusarezaru Sousakan more. It got the same job done with less chaos and collateral damage.
Oof, the last two episodes were chaotic. The only thing this show did for me was give me a huge hankering to rewatch Bad Guys xD (which I'm going to go and do now lol)
Waaah i love Ace!!! He’s calm and cool at the same time
Sorry, I'm the wrong person to ask, I'm too scared to start it >-< I've been working on some older ones I skipped instead, but if you ever find out feel free to let me know :)
I finished this today and I have to say, the two women at work drove me absolutely insane. Some of the most annoying…
I love your description, I feel like I'll probably agree with you if I watch it xD Do you mind telling me what his curse is? The description says some kind of disease?
Hahaha! Omg, I loved the first episode. I really like the ML and the mischievous expressions he makes and how he carries himself. Like the FL so far too, but he's definitely my favorite. Together they're chaos though and it's great. Don't think I've ever watched anything with either of them in it, so it's nice to see new (to me) faces. I've been watching too many dreary serious things, so this is exactly what I needed to refresh my brain. Hopefully this keeps my interest. Sounds like the book is quite good so I'll have to look into that after.
eh .I can't go through ep 3. please give some encouraging words here ?
Uuuuh, watch it at 2x speed or whatever you can tolerate? Play a game on your phone or something to fiddle with like coloring or crafting that doesn't require much attention so you can still tell what's happening in the show? That's what I do when I'm struggling but am still interested in the plot. It was pretty slow without much plot progression until around episode 15 which is when the coming-of-age ceremony happens, so try and get to that point? Things are still going strong up until episode 22 but I can't tell if that will last or if it will slow down again. Good luck! Hope this helps in some way, but sometimes you just need pure willpower to power through, or just give up and accept it's not for you. Regardless, best of luck~
I really don't like how often they make the words echo, makes me nauseous and disoriented for a moment. I'm already halfway so I doubt they'll stop doing it, but I really wish they would stop anyway. It actually feels like they're increasing the frequency, why? T-T
I lost it too :( in fact, I just watched the 8th episode and I can't describe how I feel.. regret or maybe longing…
It's definitely upsetting, I'd hate to work so hard on something that I want to share with others only for it to be locked up....off topic, but may I know what your profile pic is?
