That I'm not 100% sure about but like it's pretty normal of companies or brands to financially support dramas in exchange for promotional opportunities of stuff like product placement, brand association, etc. Safety Zone Korea for example cooperated in the production.

With the production cost being estimated to be about 60 billion won, even for Disney that would be a ton of money to cover alone without investors to help ensure production

Getting more clear by the day that at the very least this will not be coming out any time soon, and even more possible that it'll get scrapped. The production cost fees are going to be a nightmare for investors that could end up pursuing legal action against KSH if he doesn't cover the costs and probably losses for the affected investment companies. I wouldn't expect a decision on the Knock Off's status to come out for a while though

Recent update on this drama from reporter Kang Seok Bong:

It was scheduled to be released in the first half of the year after a production presentation next month, but the schedule has become uncertain as the lead actor Kim Soo Hyun's alleged affair with a minor has surfaced.

The situation has changed drastically recently as rumors of Kim Soo Hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron's affair since she was a minor have surfaced. If the suspicions are not resolved, it will be difficult for Kim Soo Hyun to attend the production presentation, and the worst-case scenario of considering even canceling the broadcast could occur. In response, Disney Korea stated, “The release schedule has not been confirmed.”

In this situation, the damage to the companies that sponsored the production of Knock Off is expected to increase. In particular, South Korea’s original street brand Safety Zone Korea has also been directly and indirectly affected by this incident.

Park Ki Pyo, CEO of Safety Zone Korea, stated, “As a company that values youthful sensibility and innovative brand value, Safety Zone has cooperated in the production of Knock Off. However, it is regrettable that the project has been disrupted due to an unexpected scandal,” and “We will wait for Disney’s announcement to decide on our official position.”

As the broadcasting of Knock Off has become unclear, attention is also being paid to the responses of the production sponsors, including Safety Zone Korea. An industry insider said, “If this scandal is prolonged, there is a high possibility that the sponsors will also suffer damage to their brand image.” It is known that a considerable amount of production cost has been invested.

Disney+ will push ahead with the release of Knock Off or adjust the schedule.

Ah, gotcha. Probably changed after original consideration i suppose, with the cast they have for this drama i'd be pretty surprised if it didn't end up securing and OTT platform to stream this on as well

Still could air on Disney+ as well as an OTT but the broadcasting network will be ENA. Would need to agree with Disney+ to license it out to them or a different OTT platform to do so

Person Kim Soo Hyun
According to Sports Chosun, it sounds like KSH will wait until next week to form a response to the situation. Not super clear, at least to me, if it's going to him directly releasing a statement or if Gold Medalist (his agency) will release one for him. Waiting until next week to respond is kinda crazy, but i assume they are still in the evidence gathering stage of things to try to cover their asses. Horrible look

"In order to respond to groundless rumors, I will reveal my position next week based on clear evidence." and "We will reveal our position next week based on clear evidence in order to set the record straight and respond to groundless rumors."

Oof.. feel bad for the production team and rest of the cast on this one. So close to being released with a stellar cast with lots of big names and I think I saw like 8 months of filming so far between the 2 seasons that was planned to finish in May and now being something that might just end up being scrapped or at the very least shelved for a long time. KSH is a creep and a criminal
