I was really hooked at first because i love Ji-chang-wook's action drama but the way they are giving a mountain…
Actually, I agree. There is too much screen time to both the main villain and the secondary villain who keeps beating up women which is just unnecessary to show such violence. I can't wait to see them die and suffer but they have diffused Wookie's role a bit and I don't like that. Also lots of unrealistic things and just uneven. Love Noh YongSik character.
Criminally overrated. This is one of the most hyped dramas on various forums for people who like thrillers\suspense\mystery genre. After watching the first few episodes, I told myself, "It's probably like 10 years old so that's what explains the messiness and over the top coincidence and obviousness. Then I checked MDL and it is from 2021 not 2005 or 2015!!! It is full of cliches, overacting and lack of logic. Dissapointing to say the least.
Various ick points: - All the characters are one dimensional. They have a job and an alleged interest or hobby but it is meaningless. Magic shows, love of Hitchcock or murder mysteries, taking care of injured pets, being sad, drinking, etc - its there for scenes but not impact for the story . - Weird "romance" between a high school student an a guy about 8-10 years older. Really reminds me of older Korean dramas that had this kind of predatory nonsense. - None of the clues or stories behind the murders matter. None of the details make an intricate or meaningful anything. - It is a pro-eugenics drama. Yes, eugenics the thing that the Nazi's used to commit genocide, that the Americans used to sterilize disabled people, queers, indigenous peoples and Black people. It is really apalling.
A great easy to watch historical, revenge, mystery historical drama with the characters solving case after case. This kind of drama that has a hundred copies now. From five years ago it had many of the tropes but handled them so well (as compared to todays dramas) and never got stuck too much.
Zhang Linghe is great but his hair is probably the awfulest I've seen. Sabrina Chen is amazing and has that beautiful androgynous look.
What she did with In Gang is understandable because she could not predict that he would do that, she thought she…
Her original manipulation? She was a kid who entered a home where the step mom had already decided to take some videos and photos of her for profit and then send her to an orphanage. When she tried to take some control, the stepmom tried to drown her. She had to throw herself out of the window to keep her father from selling her into god knows what horrors (and he intended to sell her as a bar girl, prostitute, slave). So it is a no win situation but she's not the main or only villain here. At least thus far she hasn't harmed a child unlike everyone around her who harmed her repeatedly.
This drama has me on edge. I sincerely think that the first time she was honest about what she thinks and feels is with Jun Seo's mom and grandma (in episode 8) but now she is going to turn off all emotions completely and expect the worst and be the worst. I so want her to be redeemed and think life and people aren't that horrible but all the evidence seems to be against that so far for her.
Now, the baseball guy I got it cause she truly needed someone to end her father. With In Gang and granny after…
What she did with In Gang is understandable because she could not predict that he would do that, she thought she felt cursed or like she is bad luck and had already harmed him (in her mind bc of what happened to grandma) and was trying to give him a clean break and making him dislike her. They had a one year relationship and she wanted to love him and his grandmother but was afraid to fully commit because it felt too good to be true and it was.
Grandmother was so kind but she died at the worst possible moment. Now I don't think Ah Jin can ever really love or trust again. Jun Seo is the worst because he pushed her to break up with In Gang and then didn't believe her about the grandmother. If he had trusted her the one time where she had one of the worst falls in her life (an adult finally treated her well and showed her forgiveness and a second chance only then for that accident to happen). I feel so bad for her.
I am rooting for Jun Tae Oh because he has been consistent while Jun Seo and her seem to be too messed up (especially because of the mother).
Her whole life has been hell, she wanted to trust and love grandma but it was wrenched away from her AGAIN. She is not able to trust or love anyone because she keeps getting screwed over by life. She deserves to be able to love and trust and have faith in the world but I doubt that will happen.
Dear X is phenomenal and everyone I know is talking about it. The amount of TikToks and edits is also so high so its got repeat digital impact. Kim Yoo Jung's acting is elite. The Manipulated is doing well even though its harder because Disney doesn't promote its kdramas well and is generally bad at that.
I wonder if they will have the balls for proper ending or they will back out and try to make things "nicer"…
I want her to be redeemed but I guess with the webtoon that isn't possible. Like she isn't able to find happiness because of how awful her parents were (abusive alcoholic and tried to sell her into prostitution even talking about her looks as a kid, her father was a pedo creep) and her step mother literally tried to drown her. If she was able to be in a safe setting, maybe she could try. And Jun Seo is a reminder of his mother and her own abusive father.
Baek Ah-jin’s cruelty and manipulation aren’t born from pure evil — they’re defense mechanisms shaped…
Exactly...I mean to have an alcoholic abusive mother and a father that constantly tries to sell her (for prostitution no less) is itself a formative and traumatizing experience. She also doesn't strike first, she strikes back. Except the coffee shop guy but he basically offered himself up and she took him for his word. It was wrong only in that she should have come up with a better strategy and target but her father stole her tutition money and kept ruining her life.
Kim You Jung is such a beautiful and amazing actress! I just want her to be happy even if her character is (understandably…
I do think that the plot of having someone else murder her evil father was too convoluted. I guess her tactics in that case relied too much on chance and felt like they weren't clever enough. With a father like that she could have gotten rid of him without all that, working from a different angle of his debtors maybe. So it seems like just to make her bad that she implicated an innocent.
Kim You Jung is such a beautiful and amazing actress! I just want her to be happy even if her character is (understandably with that family history, so awful) so messed up. So far at least she doesn't strike first, she strikes back or takes people at their words (like the really hot older guy who say "use me" which is intense thing to say to someone you just met).
Also if if Ah Jin could have a sweet ordinary life with Jun Seo and Jun Tae Oh, that would be lovely,
Just skip all the boring extraneous scenes except for main couple and second couple. I was trying to figure out why the main couple are so pretty and likeable but lacked a bit of tension. I think part of it was the childhood crap trope (just kill it with fire writers) and part they they are so similar (chill, nice, kind) that they seemed to lack defining personality traits or even hobbies (and the design stuff was so superficial that it didn't count). Second couple had more tension because they had some clashes over life views.
Small handed goblin acts like a psycho villain from a comic book superhero movie. JCW is excellent but what is this story and plot? Hopefully gets back on track after the "GTA 6 episodes"
Am I the only one who doesn't like the last couple of episodes?
No, you are not the only one. It went from normal poor guy gets screwed over but will use cleverness tactics and revenge (maybe like Glory or Again My Life or Reborn Rich) and instead went to normal poor guy becomes superman after 4 years in jail. At this rate they should just send stupid people to prison they will come out mechanical engineers and have infinite lives. Just video game nonsense.
