This was decent, slightly higher quality than Zomvivor which was similar (long backstories which felt generic and predictable for the most part) in that it was setup for a sequel when it won't get one (probably). The cast here is smaller and therefore slightly better at making an impression.
Prim is excellent (and should have lead roles). Benz was great as a sarcastic dude you want to slap. Samut and Kaen were okay in that they are too prettified to look like super geeks and I am tired of Thai dramas making the geeks and nerds look like models but with glasses. Mark was so good looking (he looks like a younger brother of Nani Hirunkit) and the drama acknowledged it. Mamay did well as a natural leader and empathetic person and maybe had sort of a character arc.
Pie was terrible, I mean terrible because she barely reaches her boyfriend's waistline and also because the role she was given was to say Mark over and over again. The giant tall guy and tiny short girl is such a weird aesthetic and offputting. Thai dramas really struggle with how to depict more than one or two girls or women as a fully fleshed out characters. Don the actor was okay but he would act like a villain and then for a second back down and then villain out again but like his villain move was making a face. His problem wasn't solved by the end of the game and some of the stories were left to basically hang.
Kim So Hyun, he deserves the worst and will get it. I hope someone can have a shaman do a 정당성 justice or karma ritual that will utterly destroy him from the inside out. Rotten on the inside should be seen as rotten on the outside. Maybe some of us can get together and fund one together in Korea on our next visit or through family.
KUDOS to Won Bin for being such an upstanding guy who attended Kim Sae Ron's funeral and wept for her. PEACE AND LOVE for Kim Sae Ron and Sulli and who knows countless others harmed by trash evil people.
Quick Points: 1. Groomers know how to get kids to hide things from their parents. The pedophiles like Kim So Hyun used gifts and love bombing (apparent from the released videos and letters) to entrap the kid and keep them from telling anyone. The person on set who was responsible for her safety should be identified as they did not keep her safe (and it has been before the case that some actors, actresses and kpop idols who are from poorer backgrounds or don't have protection are actually prostituted by the entertainment management). 2. Blaming the family is a huge ??? since they might not even know what is going on. They send the kid to study center or after school and the groomer comes to pick them up. Groomers know how to manipulate kids and get around authorities. Sure the parents could have been more vigilant but its a new world where you can't leave your kid alone for a second or with a phone because of the dangers. They should feel sad for their loss and be more vigilant but it is like the parent who let their kid cross the street to get ice cream and the kid dies of an accident, they never willed it. The negligence was the adults who exploit NEVER the victims. 3. Killed herself and his birthday connection, in Korea (and East Asian cultures like in China) there was a huge history of people especially girls or women who could not get justice the legal way killing themselves to prove their claim and ask the heavens for justice. If so let the heavens send fire down on all who harmed Kim Sae Ron including those who maliciously victim blame her and excuse the horrible situation she was put in by an adult pedophile and other adults.
Kim Sae Ron and Sulli both were connected to Kim So Hyun and both committed suicide. Both were exploited by him and he left them to deal with the aftermath while hiding behind his agency and gangster cousin. If there are heavens or justice then he and his fellow abusers will wish to die but death will torture them to rot.
Kim Woo Jung was outstanding in this, Kim Do Hoon was so loveable and great. Lena actress was a great new addition and very pretty (although her MDL picture is awful, why does MDL always do this?). Jun Seo (the character) was the worst ever, faithful to no one, if he had helped Jae Oh at the right time (since he has the brains and Jae Oh the muscles), they could have taked down Moon Psychopath.
I'll just write the Season 2 since kdramas rarely get a sequel and if they do it's a million years later:
The Hadere CEO lives in fear that Ah Jin will come up like a ghost. He gets a photo in the mail, of an ultrasound. The family of the first wife that he didn't manage to kill has infiltrated his household. Slowly he starts having nightmares and does things without remembering. He can't understand what is happening. One day, during one of his conferences, he see's what looks like his first wife and Ah Jin sitting in the stands. Under the influence of the same drugs he tries to kill the wives (dressed as brides). He screams that he already killed his first wife and now he just needs to finish off the second.
Mass people witness and record his words and actions and spread them. Media reports the videos Jae Oh "died" for, along with testimony from other victims, for and spin a new true story where Moon CEO was a psycopath Bluebeard responsible for countless deaths. He is institutionalized and the family members of his victims are making sure to give him the drugs and torture to make him stay permanently incapicitated. They end up lobotomizing him.
Ah Jin appears alive and well with a new bodyguard, Mr. Choi. She has quietly inherited the Hadere assets but sells most of it off. She gives Jae Oh's brother enough money to never have to worry again and to enjoy life and study his passion. And the same of In-gang's brother.
She lives in a beautiful seaside home in a small town. A small child plays with her on the beach. Mr Choi is teaching them how to swim. Other kids play by the seaside with their families and wave hello to the little family, calling them by different names.
Who is the father? Jae Oh (maybe he survives the drop into the container as someone is there to help him, like his boss? he was the only one who truly loved her). Maybe we don't need to know.
Ah Jin (now living as renamed herself) says, "Until I had a child, I didn't know what love was or how easy it was to love a child wholeheartedly, to give up everything. I felt great sorrow first at what my parents did to me. And at what I did to others' children. Now I would raise this human with all the love and without the fear that they will ever be discarded."
Kim Woo Jung was outstanding in this, Kim Do Hoon was so loveable and great. Lena actress was a great new addition and very pretty (although her MDL picture is awful, why does MDL always do this?).
I'll just write the post-script ending: The Hadere CEO lives in fear that Ah Jin will come up like a ghost. He gets a photo in the mail, of an ultrasound. One day, during one of his conferences, he see's what looks like his first wife and Ah Jin sitting in the stands. Under the influence of the same drugs he tries to kill the wives (dressed as brides). He is institutionalized and the family members of the first wife, who infilitrated his home as well, are making sure to give him the drugs and torture to make him stay permanently incapicitated. They end up lobotomizing him.

Who is the father? Jae Oh, Jun Seo or ???
Ah Jin (now living as renamed herself) says, "Until I had a child, I didn't know what love was or how easy it was to love a child wholeheartedly, to give up everything. I felt great sorrow first at what my parents did to me. And at what I did to others children. Now I would raise this human with all the love and without the fear that they will be discarded."
It’s clear that the screenwriter didn’t know how to conclude the drama. I can understand it — it’s a story…
I would say Jun Seo was her most complicated relationship, resentment that she was almost drowned and thrown out and abused by his mom but also he did try to stand by her half the time. He wrote the novel and gained fame through he story, he got the money from rich non bio grandpa because she kept quiet even though with the mom's abuse she could have come clean and asked grandpa for a payout.
I would agree that the writer struggled at certain points. Ah Jin is not a brilliant schemer or she would have made better plans in every situation. She is a desperate person responding to people who keep stepping on her neck and she even warns them to leave her alone. She dreamed of Jun Seo after almost dying but realized it wasn't him and then he didn't come help her. It would be better for he to replace Moon (and I hated his character so much, all powerful CEO that no one can stop, ok let her find another all powerful CEO and make them fight for her like every other webtoon does at the most cliche minimum).
...Not to mention Jun Seo had just given her the betrayal of the century before trying to kill her, I don't blame…
Jae Oh made that plan himself because he loved her and didn't seem to have much purpose without her and wanted her to be able to live. The only unsatisfying thing to me is I didn't see her ruin that psychopath CEO. Her only innocent victim was Mr. Choi and he forgave her genuinely.
Jun Seo the worst dumba** in the planet. He knew Jae Oh is not the brains, he could have come up with a plan that didn't require his self-sacrifice but he ignored everything. He betrayed everyone around him from the first girl, to Lena, to Jae Oh and to Ah Jin. He stood for nothing by exposing her, wasn't the CEO a thousand times worse but he couldn't expose him? CEO wanted to break her and use her like a doll. Jun Seo wanted her to be perfect and his only. Jae Oh wanted her to be free so only he loved her truly.
Really wanted a ending with her hands around CEO neck or a bat to his head or anything showing his dead bloody body.
So many plot holes and mistakes could not be saved simply by the masterful acting. Song Ho Yeon was the most understandable, tragic character. He just wanted justice for his mom and his father utterly failed at getting his wife justice. His plan was smart and it seems like he was in such pain and depression that he expected and did not fear death at all.
The judge father!! He acts well but he made bad decision after bad decision. He really didn't think that how it could even be a coincidence? He really never tried to get justice for his wife? He had gone through so many criminal cases, he didn't think to get rid of the evidence on his own? His son had a good reason to despise his image, he fell to the dark side so quickly and did worse after worse thing. It seemed like it was all to save his son but if that were the simple case, why not send him abroad? Like it was thrown in our face that The chairman sent his evil rapist murdering son abroad to keep him from getting in trouble, so why didn't the judge think of that?
The chairman!! I see some people trying to empathize with him, like what the eff? He covered up or was directly involved in multiple murders, rape, horrific murder through burning of a grandmother and her five year old grandaughter, and the list goes on and on and on. His whole family were just criminals except for the disabled Eun, like his first wife was probably murdered by him or his second wife. He had unlimited power on his side and he still failed because he kept protecting rather than stopping his son, wife, and himself from doing more evil.
I only felt bad for Eun and Song Ho Yeon. Everyone else, including the prosecutor claimed to be doing the right or necessary thing but added fuel to the fire.
I really hope that Nara can have a positive relationship or romance, the last few dramas have been utterly harrowing to watch her get cheated on and harmed. Park Hae Jin was good in The Killing Vote too, hope they have some chemistry.
In this drama she really shows her range as I have seen has as cute, lovely, beautiful, adorable, slightly mischievous and sassy but not to these depths of anger, betrayal, revenge and madness. She really is one of a kind beauty and actress. So much love and hope she has mental health support as this type of role can really affect a person. For example, Heath Ledger was so terribly impacted by the research and role he played as Joker.
Ryu Jun Yeol filmed his parts separately with his family in the drama. He did not participate with the entire…
From the posts it was clear that Lee Hye Ri thought they were still dating while he was dating others and so that is understandable from her perspective. What an ugly guy, both her and Han So Hee can do better.
Please report gstafford for expressing some truly despicable thoughts including justifying sex with minors and pedophilia as well as exploitation of minors.
As for Kim So Hyun, he deserves the worst and will get it.
In her life, she always wanted mother love. This love was given by in Gang's grandmother, there's a hope in that…
Oh, I agree that Jun Seo is wrong for her. It's too complicated. His mother tried to drown her or send her to orphanage or kick her out of the house because she figured out the Jun Seo was not the biological heir. Ah Jin was made to suffer for Jun Seo's success. I meant the other guy Kim Jae Oh that always trusts her. The only one she harmed was Mr. Choi and he forgave her, the rest all deserved it because they wouldn't let her breathe.
Growing up as an average 'ugly' girl i feel like the plot of this drama is a little unrealistic i just cant imagine…
I agree I sometimes hate this plot because its such a cliche fantasy (and at least in True Beauty they have more nuance where she uses makeup and styling) and so unrealistic but also get why some might like it. I do hate that he ML calls her Mrs Piggy over and over again, its quite cruel and insulting. He has some okay moments as a himbo but overally they just are not a match in terms of even like enjoying spending time together on a date or having things in common. I did like the other actors particularly Blue and Pink and Brown and Goth Girl but they didn't get enough time. I also really like the friends and thought that was a potential realistic exploration of female friendships.
Wookie is underused here (more time with him Noh Young Sik and Eun Bi would have been better to show how they use their different skills to help him). Instead, too much time given to the villains and now the main villain (who is laughable, like a midget with bad hair who can do anything while Wookie is getting beat up constantly) is controlling him to try to get his own dirty work done.
Also to note a disturbing trend in Korean dramas beyond the cartoon villain, is that they show the villain is somehow of "low birth." I keep seeing this and feel like it reeks of some "pure bloods" supremacy and feels disgusting.
I know she is flawed but I hope that she can win against this creepy CEO, chaebol. It is clear he is a Bluebeard type - he traps beautiful women and then breaks them down. She will go into that secret room. I just want her to have a nice life by herself and someone who loves her truly like Kim Jae Oh, or who can be true family to her like grandma. Even Mr. Choi, her and Kim Jae Oh and a halmoni or ahjumma so she can heal and not feel like life is always a battle and she needs to be rescued or rescue herself.
Junseo's mother's arc should have ended a long time ago, and I hope we don't see her again. She takes up too much…
I think we are meant to hate her. But now we also understand why Ah Jin's relationship with Jun Seo is so complex. Jun Seo's mother tried to drown Ah Jin because she figured out that Jun Seo was no the biological heir. The mother later kicked her out and treated her so awfully just to protect him and her own self. Ah Jin and Jun Seo can't be end game, it's too awful between them.

Samut and Kaen were okay in that they are too prettified to look like super geeks and I am tired of Thai dramas making the geeks and nerds look like models but with glasses.
