pleasepleaseplease let Giman be dead - hands down my favorite thing that Seri has done in 70 episodes. I've hated him since episode one (I have never actually hated a daily drama character as much as I hate Giman) and if he get's killed off... Christmas is coming early this year!
Rest of my thoughts:
- Whoever Jiho's father is, I hope he can get custody of his son because Seri and Gichan are far from the parents of the year. Honestly, Jaein does a better job bonding with him than Seri does ... If GM is dead I fully expect a blood donor/illness plot to expose the fact that Jiho isn't Gichan's
- I'm still eh on Seungwoo and Yookyung as a couple. I like them as individuals (crazy enough, they both have had positive character development so I went from hating them to liking them) but as a couple? I neither like or dislike it. Regardless, the preview makes it seem like SW is going to ask her out but Yookyung is reserved with her response. In the unfortunate event that Giman survives this better not scare her back to him. I will ditch this drama so fast if that happens because there's absolutely no reason for it
- I've said it before but I love watching Ohsang and Miran and I'm so happy they got together! Also glad Miran got to tell her side of the story and it worked out for Seungwoo. Miran and her brother's (I forgot his name lmaoo) parents were absolute nutcases and their whole family was appearance and status based. Probably a toxic environment... (esp given the weight that East Asian cultures place on listening to your elders) so yeah I see why she did what she did. I hope that's the end of this subplot tho, I find the other parts of the story are to be more interesting
- daily reminder that Mr. Do is awesome. When he stepped in in front of Seri and Jayoung and kicked her out? "Do you know who I am? I'm the wife of Hwang Gichan, chairman YL." "I don't care if you're the daughter of the president [of S Korea], get out of my house!" LOVED IT!
- this insurance fraud subplot???? Sookja is cooked if Migyung either goes rogue or Jaein finds out. Honestly, I can see both happening - Migyung seems like a grifter who will go with whatever gets her money. But hey if it gets Sookja locked up I'm all for it.
I had always wondered how Sookja got her $$$ because it didn't seem like that money was from Giman working at YL. I am trying to piece together how Yunhee and Sookja know each other - they lived together at one point and if I had to guess, they met through Nara [since Yunhee refers to Sookja as Nara's mother in Korean]. So you mean to tell me that Yunhee took Sookja and her family in, Yunhee's husband dies (watch Sookja be the one who started the fire. I do have a faint memory of Nara talking about a fire when she was younger and Sookja shushing her) and Sookja repays the gratitude by commiting insurance fraud and stealing yunhee's dead husband's life insurance? YIKES...
I also had a silly theory that Nara isn't actually Sookjas daughter - but this is solely based on the naming conventions of her children. Usually Korean parents will give their children names with similar syllables like Dohee and Doyun. Sookja did that with Giman and Gichan. But Nara ... tbh I can't think of any feminine Korean names that start with 기 which may be why her name is different. I may be looking a bit too deep into this but I am also in the middle of a 12 hour train ride and theorizing is fun lol
I just realized that this drama is called Queen's house because Jaein is literally playing chess with the Hwangs (+ Seri). In chess the Queen is the most powerful piece on the board because she can move in a straight line and diagonally, while all the other pieces can only move one or the other.
Jaein tried getting her revenge the traditional way with D&H holdings (moving straight) but the "amnesia" is a pretty unorthodox way of going about this (moving diagonal). Just a fun metaphor lol but back to ep 68:
The fake pregnancy (I was SO relieved Jaein didn't actually sleep with him) is crazy work, down to Jaein drugging him so he wouldn't remember, to her getting Yugyeong's friend in on it too. What a way to start world war 3 lol
That being said, I had a huge laugh when Seri tried to call Gichan out for cheating and he hit her with "why are you mad when we are both the same" 😭

Haven't watched ep 65 yet (will watch this evening!) but I am liking the amnesia plot more than I thought I would! Seeing Seri squirm at Jaein unknowingly playing cat and mouse with her is really fun lmao
