I liked the ending. No complaints from me. I liked how everything went full circle ... - Jingoo and Hana get married, Eunchong gets adopted (I loved the fact that Jieun made her dress!) - Myeongji's final grift fails big time and she gets dragged back to prison where she will rot for life :) just as I predicted, the one character who did not acknowledge her wrongs [no but the fact that Myeongji STILL viewed herself as the victim at the very end] suffered the worst ending lmao - Seyoung and Jingoo getting together I expected but I did not expect them expecting as well! - Seyoung volunteering at the orphanage that Hana and Yujin met at ... somewhat related but seeing the callback with Hana, Duna and Sena was nice as well ... - Jiseok and Hana both "adopted" Yeojin and Sungho as their parents
Solid daily, it's not dethroning any of my faves but I liked it a lot better than the last two that were in this time slot. (No really, the ending of Snow White's Revenge made me crash out in the comments lmaooo) I found the story engaging and I appreciated that the comedic characters (Jichang and Jieun) were there to lighten the mood but they weren't so obnoxious that they took you out the show or took away from the main story.
I do appreciate the themes this show had: family is not just blood but can be chosen (notice how Hana's actual mother never actually made an appearance except at the very very beginning) and that the sins of your family don't necessarily mean that YOU are a bad person and of course, acknowledging your wrongs and growing from them is a big one. This is a very grey drama, no black-and-white storytelling here.... our "good" characters were bad at points and the "bad" characters do good things at points. It makes for an interesting story....
I give the drama 8/10 and added it to my "daily dramas I would watch again" list. This was a fun one.
Now here's hoping I enjoy Queen's House just as much if not more! Interesting how we go from Snow White -> Cinderella -> Queen....
The writer killed of the victim, Carry Jung, who started the revenge. The last 20 episodes aren't so good.
Damn!! I accidentally opened up this comment before the other one but you know what? I'm glad I did. I would be annoyed if I made it that far and saw that she died π that sucks to hear that the last 20 episodes are disappointing. For me, that's usually the best part of a daily because that's usually when the plot really starts getting interesting. Wow...
I'll probably end up watching it in the future when I forget you told me this, lmao
Thank you for mentioning the morally grey part! That's one of the better areas of this drama. I'm okay with Se-Young's…
I like it too! It feels way more realistic when its written this way. The one thing I can't stand in makjangs is when an absolutely vile and evil character with no redeeming qualities (you know the type!) learns some information (usually relating to a long lost relative) and they suddenly have the goodness in their hearts to make a full 180 in less than one episode π so I'm happy Cinderella game is avoiding doing that
Ji Soo Won plays a good character in Vengeance of the Bride, it's a good show..
Oh really? That one was on my list because of jang seohee and lee chaeyoung π maybe that'll be the next older daily I watch.... Have you seen it? What did you think of it?
First episode did a very good job at establishing Mucheol and Mija as terrible people lol if I make it that far it will be fun when they inevitably lose their money.
Demanding money from and assaulting the bereaved family at a funeral is crazy work, and I can feel Mija's insecurity through my TV screen. Even their son is an unlikeable crypto bro who is a jobless bum. It's so cartoonish it feels like a parody lmao
Ji Suwon is absolutely amazing at portraying the shamelessness of Myeongji... I'm watching ep 98 the scene where Seyoung is trying to reason with her and Myeongji's shamelessness is so abundant it could fill the pacific ocean. She absolutely believes she's in the right, and is a victim of everybody else. My blood is absolutely boiling
Now that I think about it, she plays the main antagonist in gracious revenge, also written by Oh Sanghee. Haven't seen it yet, but there's an interesting connection
Hats off to Ji Suwon and Oh Sanghee π now I gotta watch a drama where she's playing a good character
I actually liked Jingoo's proposal to Hana. I found it sweet how they involved Eunchong and his friends. I'm excited to see them become a family :) they aren't topping Haein and Jinwoo from meant to me, but I enjoy them as a couple. Unpopular opinion but I'm saying it, I'm a fan of Seyoung's redemption arc, it's not black and white, there are shades of gray. This drama is full of a lot of morally grey characters so it tracks. Anyhow, why would she have the emotional intelligence to make a full 180 when she was raised by Myeongji? I prefer the greyness of it all.
Jiseok and Seyoung will probably be endgame. I can live with that. The foreshadowing is very strong with this one, sorry y'all lol
Sidenote. I am laughing at the preview of this episode, [the one at the end of episode 97] making it seem like Seyoung died and Hana was at her funeral - the part where she was holding the flowers and saying 'i feel sorry for Seyoung and Duna'. Good one, producers π
That was a perfect place for her to be arrested, with the other family seeming to enjoy the show. I'm sure they…
It's so funny because Myeongji is such a narcissist!! So the family exposing them on social media is going to harm her ego more than anything anyone Team Hana could do π I hope they go through with it I need some last minute comedic relief.
Re: Seyoung I think she will end up accepting responsibility for her embezzlement and that punishment will cause her to reflect and she will live as Seyoung and not Myeongji's daughter. Facing consequences leads to change. It's rough but a necessary experience. Thank you for your kind words I am doing better now!! Those scenes were felt real so real to me that it made me wonder if the screenwriter had a complicated relationship with her mother as well :(
As for cruella... what do you think is going to happen to her? I feel like she's going to die OR somehow end up institutionalized but be totally delusional and think she owns Hyesung. There's no way she's going to let the feds take her π
One thing is for sure, the last week of Cinderella Game is going to be a fun one!!
I fully recommend it if you are a fan of makjang dramas! It's one of the better ones that aired this decade
What's even more mind boggling is that the screenwriter purposely sought out park hana because of vengeance of the bride. That actually gave me false hope about mmm lol
I fully recommend it if you are a fan of makjang dramas! It's one of the better ones that aired this decade
Yes! Spoilered because I've been watching these for years so I have a lot lol: - game of witches (currently watching - recommend this if you like the business setting of CG and the fake daughter trope. I highly recommend this) - temptation of a wife - a classic revenge drama and one of the highest rated makjangs of all time. There's a sister drama that's a "sequel" (but not really) that's shorter and not a daily - temptation of angel. Both are written by the same lady who wrote Penthouse, so you know it'll be over the top. I recommend both as well as her drama Sister is Alive! -(if you really want to watch some good makjangs, I would honestly just recommend any drama written by Kim Soon-ok. She's one of my favorites for a reason) - secrets and lies - if you want to see a makjang centered from the perspective of the female antagonist lead, this is an interesting watch - gold mask. The actress playing Yeojin plays the evil chaebol in this drama. Also a KBS daily, I recommend it because the FL, while wooden in her acting at times, DOES take an active role in her revenge, similarly to Hana - Mysterious Personal Shopper. Another makjang that deals with mother daughter relationships. All three of the female leads are some of my favorite actresses - the promise. Daily from 2016 that's highly recommended. Lee Yuri plays a dual role - ice Adonis and glass mask. Two older ones from 2012 and 2013. Yellow Boots is probably my favorite daily of all time and it got me into the "subgenre" of makjang revenge dramas - man in a veil / secret House. Two different dailies. My favorite two that have male leads. - meant to be - another makjang that deals with fake families. This one starts slow because there's a lot of backstory (the revenge doesn't start until around episode 60) but it's worth the wait and I highly recommend it because the that was one of the best reversals I've seen a FL had in a kdrama... she went from your typical kdrama lead to a someone who was calculated and was out for blood and had a VERY active role in her revenge. (I also like her relationship with the male lead and how the male leads family treats her.) -elegant empire - don't be put off by the negative reviews in the comment section. I watched it anyway and I actually really enjoyed it a lot. Its another kbs daily from this decade. The lead actor does end up getting switched around ep 30, but it didn't really bother me. And I'll also recommend: -miss Montecristo - fatal promise -vengeance of the bride -gracious revenge (which is also written by the same woman who wrote Cinderella Game!)
what are your predictions for the next 5 days. Here are mine:2 days until evil Choi and detective are finally…
-I think Myeongji is going to die or end up like one of those makjang villains who end up suffering brain damage or going blind and needs to live in a hospital. Like Giyoon's mom at the end of Elegant Empire, Serin from Miss Montecristo, etc. she would live in a delusional state where she thinks she was successful at taking Hyesung while in actuality, she is institutionalized. A fate worse than death if you will.
I want to see her go to jail for life but the way she's fighting tooth and nail to prove her "innocence" makes me think she'd going to try to make an escape attempt..the questioning will probably fail for whatever reason, allowing Myeongji to walk free. That will be the last time she walks free because whatever happen next (her either outright attempting to kill Yeojin/Hana/Eunchong or her trying to attempt the country) will be what gets her caught. I expect for her fate to be sealed in episode 100 lol
(She could also make an extreme choice since she thinks she's being unfairly persecuted and wants to escape the consequences of that. But this feels unlikely.)
-i have the same prediction as you regarding Seyoung's arc. She's going to take responsibility for her embezzlement do her time and come out of jail and live as her own person with better morals. May or may not get back with Jiseok. At the very least they will be friends....
-i wonder if Hana's birth mother will even show up. Hana said herself, "I don't care about my birth mother, I consider the goos my real family, I was never curious about my birth mother etc" that might've been the screenwriter's way of telling the audience that stone will be left unturned outside of the "fake daughter" plot. But we will see. I thought that she would be introduced at some point but we're entering the last week.
-Jingoo and Hana get married and adopt Eunchong and Yeojin "adopts" Hana and the Goos and Yoon's act as a blended family as they all forgive each other. So I also agree with you on that lol
No fr like he's not super annoying like Aeri's son was in Temptation of a Wife and I actually think the actor will grow up to be a charismatic actor, was but I 100% got bored during the arc where Seyoung and Jingoo were pretending to adopt Eunchong. After Seyoung's wedding is when the drama picks up again!
Like I said, we only see Eunchong like maybe 30 seconds per episode now and it's usually as one of the comedic lighter scenes. I so appreciate Oh Sanghee for not wasting valuable screentime on him when there's deeper questions that still need to be answered!!
Myeongji finally getting arrested while attending her "meet the in-laws" dinner, is the perfect Easter gift π€ͺ
The dissolution of Seyoung and Myeongji's relationship is hard to watch. It's pretty much a toxic mother-daughter relationship and as someone who came from a similar situation (no makjang antics tho, unfortunately I am not a chaebol heiress lol) I have to give Oh Sanghee her flowers for writing her scenes realistically. Contrary to popular belief it is hard to break out of parental brainwashing especially when they make it so they can easily control you. They purposely make it so their kids can rely on them and they blindly trust in their parent even tho their parent is hurting them in the long run. This is also why Seyoung doesn't feel like she can live independently. I had to go through something very similar 5 years ago and even now I still feel lost. (In k-drama terms, I "cut ties") This is why I don't dislike Seyoung as much as some people do (but let's be completely honest, 2FLs tend to be my favorites π€·πΎββοΈ but this is the one daily that I like the FL better because Hana is awesome)
Speaking of, it was cool seeing Hana and Jingoo arrest the corrupt detective and even cooler to see Hana herself get physical. I will always love when FLs take an active role in her revenge. Now everyone is now coming together to take down Myeongji and I think that's so beautiful. I wholeheartedly agreed with Jichang when he said "take down Choi Myeongji" to Yeojin when she was offering to help them lol.
Next week we enter our last week with Cinderella Game and I can't wait. Looks like Myeongji is going to try to lie her way out of her arrest, and Seyoung is gonna make an extreme choice - wherein Hana and Jiseok come to the rescue. Jiseok is being loud and clear that he still has feelings for Seyoung (why else would he be so disturbed about her getting married to the sleazy chaebol lol) and provided she doesn't die next episode, I can see Hana and Jiseok befriending her.
A common theme in this drama is that for the most part, everyone is doing bad things to each other (yes, really), BUT the bigger part of that is taking responsibility for your wrongs however that makes the process of forgiveness easier. I do remember seeing a press release from the beginning of this drama saying that it was not only a story of revenge, but forgiveness. Sungho and Yeojin forgave each other, and Yeojin's scene with Hana, Jieun and Jichang supports this - and Myeongji's downfall is going to be exponentially worse than anyone else who "sinned" in this drama because she is too much of a narcissist to accept her wrongs. Like, she legitimately still thinks of herself as a victim, despite literally every character in this drama, in some way, shape, or form has been a victim of Myeongji's greed. All conflict in this drama can be traced back to her.
- Jingoo and Hana get married, Eunchong gets adopted (I loved the fact that Jieun made her dress!)
- Myeongji's final grift fails big time and she gets dragged back to prison where she will rot for life :) just as I predicted, the one character who did not acknowledge her wrongs [no but the fact that Myeongji STILL viewed herself as the victim at the very end] suffered the worst ending lmao

Yes, I agree. honestly they all need psychotherapy because I wouldn't be able to trust anyone after this lol
Now that I think about it, she plays the main antagonist in gracious revenge, also written by Oh Sanghee. Haven't seen it yet, but there's an interesting connection
