This is gonna sound crazy but I'm hoping that Yoon Ahjung plays the antagonistic female character... she absolutely killed the role of the 2FL back in Ice Adonis/Yellow Boots 13 years ago ... I'm so ready š
(Also she played Seo Hajoon's sister in secret house, so they will be working together again lol)
I guess this counts as my review because I'm not going to finish this
So idk if any of y'all read tvtropes, but this drama is a perfect example of "harsher in hindsight" due to what happened to Kim Saeron IRL.
When this drama aired I tuned in because I was a fan of KSR. But I didn't actually finish it because it only aired once a week and due to some sporting events the broadcast would keep getting cancelled. I only got to like episode 4 or 5 before dropping it and I never actually picked it back up lol. Back then I didn't realize how messy such an age gap was but now... I actually watched the first two episodes of this last night so I could write this "review" with a critical eye. I couldn't make it past ep 2, for "little things" like this:
There's a "joke" in ep 2 that woohyun's character makes because Saeron's character walks in on him showering. "Why don't I watch you shower and see how you feel?"
I gotta side eye the screenwriter for that one, big time.
I think that's what did it for me ... And you can 100% tell that Woohyun is skeeved out by the age difference (as he should be!), which reflects in his acting and I didn't even get to the ~romance storyline~. Unfortunately, I am not continuing the drama to that point.
It's safe to say that this is an idol drama targeted towards teens, especially those who were fans of Infinite. The story concept is a good one. I love the idea of an angel learning to live as a human... in the high school setting. Younger me would've eaten this up. Now I'm probably crying over split milk here as this show is a decade+ old, but I think this drama could've worked way better if:
- cast someone closer to sungyeol and woohyun's age for the female lead - cast someone else closer to saeron's age for the male leads - if you absolutely need to have Woohyun, Saeron, and Sungyeol in the drama, do what an older comment suggested and remove all romance scenes and subplots... I agree with said commenter because Woohyun and Saeron actually have really good "playful siblings" energy. I mostly watch daily dramas now and in an alternate universe, those two would've done an amazing job playing a set of siblings on a daily family drama...
Hot take: not every drama needs to have romance in it and this drama is a good example. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk...
PS: I may have not finished this drama, but it made me into a fan of sungyeol (and eventually the rest of infinite). Won't rewatch, won't finish it, but I'll keep it in my memories...
Not to nitpick or anything... But I think you meant "My Love from the stars" instead of "Crash Landing on You"…
Oh yeah, you're right lmao. It's been a while but one thing remains... Cheon SongYi is an iconic legend
But I 100% agree. I know no entertainment industry is clean but this has put a huge damper on my enjoyment of kdramas for the time being.
The crazy thing is, even if it came out that KSH was 100% innocent (he's not), I still wouldn't want to support any of his works because his character is being shown by his actions...
You and I both know that if he looked like the guys that get caught on "to catch a predator" aka not conventionally attractive, there would be zero excuses. But I digress...
The last I heard about knock off is that Disney has halted filming. That was a few days ago, idk what's current (just like you I'm taking mental health breaks from this... especially since I work at a behavioral health hospital on the adolescent unit. So I see first hand the damage people like KSH do to minors.)
Btw: I also don't believe for a second that this husband is real. For starters, if he's real, why hasn't he come out? Lee Jinho said that they couldn't get married in Korea bc the marriage record would be public record and thus would be leaked ... He doesn't realize the same is true in the US. they are public record in New York City where they got married at ... since you have to go to court and sign a paper when you get married here. I actually got curious and searched her name last night (Kim Saeron and Kim Ah-im, which she changed it to) but besides a couple older (aged 40s) people who live on the West Coast also named Saeron, I didn't see any "proof" that she ever lived here
I remember first seeing Kim Saeron way back in The Queens Classroom 12 years aho. She was lumped in with Kim Yoojung and Kim Soohyun. While I liked all three, Kim Saeron was my favorite.... I was rooting for her to come back from the DUI and all that ... I never would have thought in a million years that things would turned out like this.... like her death shook me up, but not to the extent where I felt the need to leave a comment. Yet one month later .... Here I am...
Like, I'm from America so these type of sex scandals are nothing new. Discounting that, I've been into kdramas (and kpop) long enough to go through k-entertainment scandals. This is the first one where instead of acknowledging the "right" or "wrong", KSH's side has decided to go into full on character assassination... towards a dead person. Like why do we need to see those alledged pictures of her s/hing and the bruises from the alledged domestic abuse? The "husband" isn't involved in this scandal... Like thanks for establishing that this husband, whoever he is, a POS but that doesn't absolve you of guilt my friend.....
I was completely neutral towards him before this scandal popped off... Haven't watched any of his works besides crash landing onto you 10 years ago, and that was solely for Jun Jihyun.... literally was planning on watching Queen of Tears then 24 hours later the scandal broke... spoiler alert I still haven't watched it....
obviously as a fan of Saeron, I wish that none of this ever happened. But it's too late for that... things are only going to get messier from here on out... especially with the fact that it's very easy in this day and age to fabricate "proofs" with AI...
because she said she will take an allergy pill while supposedly being pregnant. Iām not sure if pills like that…
Seyoung is allergic to cats! It came up when she visited Bangeul and Eunchong was there with Yali (the cat) it was right before Hana was made into Yeojin's fake daughter
I work in healthcare and HaifaaM is right... some medications are contraindicated (meaning they can't be prescribed) if the woman is pregnant because of the harm it can cause the baby...
But in makjang terms that almost always translates to allergy meds (most of which are actually safe for a pregnant woman to take)
am i the only one who doesn't hate jin goo š yeah he is dumb, stupid etc. and hana shouldn't forgive him right…
I like him! I think he truly regrets going along with Yeojin's plan but only time will tell if Hana forgives him (she should make him prove himself š)
It's crazy how the Seyoung being pregnant lie made my interest in this drama evaporate faster than water in the Sahara... can't wait until she inevitably gets exposed.
"Was that refreshing?" Hana was legendary for this idc lmaooo
(Also she played Seo Hajoon's sister in secret house, so they will be working together again lol)
