omg??? Kim Soon-ok is my favorite screenwriters too! If you haven't you should totally watch sister is alive and jang Bori is here (that's where my icon is from lmao) Those aren't dailies but they're those makjang 50 ep dramas. My Daughter, Geum Sawol is similar (also written by Kim Soon-ok) but I haven't actually watched it (yet!!!) so I can't really recommend it

Temptation of an angel I do recommend... And if you want a real classic makjang to watch (also by Kim Soon-ok) I highly recommend Temptation of a Wife. It's a daily and it's probably the best revenge makjang I've seen... iirc that was actually the drama that made Kim Soonok famous.

I watched penthouse season 1&2 as they aired but I wasn't able to watch penthouse 3 due to irl events and still haven't gotten around to watching it

Also. .. re: man in a veil . I'll say that with makjangs, sometimes if you come back to them, you'll be able to watch them. Like with the Promise with Lee Yuri.... I watched that back in 2017 but I couldn't get into it. I rewatched it in 2023 and now it's one of my favorite dailies! Some dailies are like a bottle of wine, they're better with age 😭

My guess is he will try to stop it, but from a distance and in a way that will try to avoid hurting Hana and Eunchong as collateral damage... how he will do that, idk ...

Just as I predicted, Jiseok continues to have a frog in his throat about his revenge plans, alienating Jichang, Jieun and Hana further. The fact that all three of them asked him to just say it but instead of a direct answer we get more passive aggressive comments about how they are making a mistake.... ok.

I feel like Jichang's comment "no, you're going to regret this" is foreshadowing for something that will happen in the future. I do like the portrayal of the Gu family... theyre dysfunctional because of the shared trauma of losing their parents. It's realistic...

Jichang remains my favorite of the 3 siblings but I had to laugh when Jieun did the hair flip before leaving Seyoung in the hallway. She's grown on me a lot.

Not only did we get our first skincare PPL scene, but Jichang is opening up a restaurant. Stella Ddeobokki, Frank Burger, or something new? 😂

I am currently watching secret house rn! Jihwan is really doing his thing (and I like Seo Hajoon too! I also currently watching Phoenix 2020 only for him lmao. I'll get to the two sisters later...) I love how it feels relatively darker compared to other daily dramas... Now I'm still somewhat early on but I will say that taehyung and his mom m make giyun and his mom look like amateur villains. It's building up into a great story so I definitely recommend it!

The two sisters... I actually tried watching that as it aired, but I ended up dropping it. However, I read some comments that said that Hyewon turns into a antihero. I also did like Bae Doeun and as you mentioned, Seo Hajoon shows up... I'm also a fan of Lee Soyeon bc ofiss Monte Cristo and temptation of an angel, so I think I am going to watch that again!

All I could think about during that scene was that I would've probably gotten fired that day because I would've hit her back.

The biggest thing I want to see is whether or not Yeojin really becomes the "shield for Hana", in regards to Seyoung and Myeongji's clownery and tricks...

If she does, I can't wait because those scenes will be so satisfying to watch...

omggg yes lee shikang is the best! I loved man in a veil and it makes me wish there were more dailies with male leads... Taepoong was really that guy 😭 I need to rewatch it because I don't really remember Lee Shikang's role... outside of him having a love triangle with Taepoong and Yura's sister ... And of course, the ending...

I'm so glad Lee Sangbo turned things around and I hope to see him in amother work soon!

Jiseok needs to make it a bit less obvious that he's behind the cancellations and whatnot... anyone with 2 working brain cells will make the connection that Jiseok is connected to those events... he's lucky that Seyoung is not only in love with him, but she is in a state of perpetual confusion when it comes to doing the right thing. But lookie here... Yeojin is now suspicious of him, because he cut ties with Hana! It's not like Sungho didn't warn him about this several scenes before! Oh wait...

I can't believe it took this long, because like I said above, it's not like Jiseok was moving in silence. As Yeojin said "ever since you came, our stock price has gone down" .... I had to laugh when Jiseok tried to say Yeojin was going soft in her old age... My guy... you don't become a chairwoman by not paying attention to what's going on. As expected, his parents are now getting investigated 💀

Sungho is warning you for a reason, Jiseok! You aren't built for the mess when the house of cards comes falling down... I'm a viewer and I don't even think I'm built for it 😭 like Myeongji is playing 3D chess, Yeojin Jiseok and Jingoo are playing 4D chess, and then there's Sungho, playing 5D chess trying to outsmart them all. It's so crazy to think that we haven't even reached the climax of the story yet. I hope Hana moves into the Shin house by the end of the week tbh.

btw: I ranted a bit about him today but I swear I don't hate Jiseok 💀 I just wish he would stop trying to shoulder the burden of revenge, because at the rate he's going, he'll get revenge for his parents, while alienating the rest of his family (which isn't really fair to them because they don't know what's going on!)

I know we as viewers know that Hana isn't really Yeojin's daughter, but Jiseok at the beginning of EP 36... idk.... Hana didn't choose her mother. Also, yet again, Jiseok did not tell the truth to Hana.... Hana saying that she views her foster parents as real parents would've been the perfect opening for him to expose the truth, but nope!

If you're going to keep secrets from your siblings, who are definitely old enough to understand, don't be upset that they look at the chairwoman fondly??? 😭 And moreover, who are you to decide what Jieun and Jichang do? Like Jichang pointed out, Jiseok was away from home for 5 years and Hana took over his role as the oldest child, being the breadwinner... the fact that Hana chose this life - since she's not blood related - should mean something to Jiseok. That conversation was coldddd!

The fact that jiseok speaks in code low-key irritates me. Because he wanted to drop hints to Seyoung about Hana being Yeojin's "daughter", Seyoung misinterpreted it as Jingoo and Hana having an affair.... (Which is ironic in itself) which leads to Hana getting slapped around. He's trying to play puppet master but he lacks the emotional intelligence to pull the strings. Please be an adult and use your adult words 😭 stop speaking in vague terms and being upset when people don't know what you're talking about

Re: Hana getting slapped, I said it before and I said it again, can Jingoo and Seyoung break up already? Their dysfunctional relationship is quickly becoming my least favorite part of the drama, because it's obvious to everyone that they don't like each other!

Jiseok's actor does a good job at portraying someone who's drunk and emotional, I'll give him that lol

I'm ehhh on the idea of Myeongji being suspicious of Yeojin and Hana this early in the game, but Myeongji, despite all her grifting, tends to be about 3 steps behind the main characters. (She can't even install a location tracking app on Jingoo's phone 😂) So I don't expect for Hana's cover to be blown any time soon. Myeongji also can't outright say what happened to the real Yunjin either because that would incriminate her, so that helps

Also, something else I realized: at the start of the drama, it was said that Seyoung and Jingoo were due to get married within a month. I'm just curious as to how much time has passed in-storyline since then 💀

Looking forward to Hana's post-chaebol glow up ...

Btw the way that Yeojin and Jingoo are going about making Hana believe she's her daughter is dirty work but as a viewer I am loving every second of it 😭

Personally, I think Myeongji is lying about who Seyoung's dad is lol
