By a stroke of good luck, Jingoo was the one who found Yeojin, and in a rare moment of intelligence in a makjang drama, Yeojin told Jingoo to hide the documents before they left the office... And she told Jingoo and her assistant to keep the news secret from Seyoung and Myeongji. I love it!! I love how Yeojin is subconsciously suspicious of them. It's refreshing seeing characters keep secrets from those who are obviously evil, instead of obliviously telling them their plans. It's going to be fun watching Sungho and Yeojin play 4D chess to try to outsmart them lol
Similar note: I also like how Myeongji is not having an easy time when it comes to finding out what's going on. Like... When she tried to eavesdrop on Yeojin and Ms. Jangs conversation, but Bangul just so happened to show up. Like compare this to other dailies dramas like the Third Marriage, where Seran (2FL) was easily given what she needed to mess things up with Dajeong (FL)
Btw Na Younghee broke my heart when she was reading the letter and reacting to the news that Duna is gone. A1 acting from her there!
The scene where Jingoo and Seyoung were talking... Watching it now I can see that they have no chemistry, and that's intentional... they don't like each other. If Seyoung's treatment of Hana isn't going to break them up, Seyoung and Myeongji's behavior towards Bangeul (Jingoo's mother) definitely will. Because while he's loyal to the chairwoman, that's his mother.... Or so I hope
I'll circle back to ep 22 later in the day, when it gets subbed
Let's hope this drama is not like The Real Has Come! Only very good at the beginning. I dropped that drama after…
I haven't seen the real has come (yet) but I will say that Cinderella Game has been very good at not giving us overly obnoxious characters... Jieun used to annoy me in the beginning but not so much anymore. When/if Hana were to move in with the Shins, I don't see Yeojin or Bangeul (Jingoo's mom) abusing her like toxic in-laws usually do. Myeongji and Seyoung might, but at the rate that Hana is standing up for herself, I don't think she'll just take their abuse. I agree with you. I can only watch those types of dramas if the in-law nonsense is only at the very beginning ie Gold Mask or Temptation of a Wife...
Even Myeongji and Seyoung (especially Myeongji) are more calculated than cartoonishly evil. (And they come off as more dangerous/better villains because of it!) The relationship between Hana and Jingoo is also written well ... minus the whole car scene they actually come off as 30+ year olds.
Hopefully it stays that way. It's a nice contrast to the other daily "revenge" drama currently airing, where I feel like literally every character except the ML and his son are obnoxious on some level. There's actually a plot here and while Hana doesn't have great luck, she's having more and more small wins. Meanwhile in Desperate Ms. Seonju, the main character cannot win to ridiculous levels. The former is more interesting to watch the latter.
I hope this drama keeps doing what it's doing and sparks a trend with future daily dramas - people will watch if it's good!
Interesting fact; this drama seems to be doing fairly well ratings wise. For reference, the last 4 episodes have all gotten above a 9% viewer ratings. The episodes with the highest rating so far are ep 18 & 19 (both have 9.4%). Today's ep (20) clocked in at 9.2%. People are definitely tuning in!
In comparison to the last two dailies, The Two Sisters didn't even make 9% (the highest rated episode was episode 3 with a 8.7% rating) and Snow White's Revenge didn't crack 9.0% until episode 55. The highest rated episode for that one was episode 101 with a 9.8% (and if you watched that drama, you have a fair idea as to why lol)
Got a little nervous when Hana got caught up in child abuse accusations but luckily it didn't end up bad for her and Eunchong. (Now where were these child abuse investigators in elegant empire and gold mask? iykyk...)
Jingoo is starting to put his foot down with Seyoung... I feel like their relationship will slowly die until Hana "becomes" Cinderella, and then that'll be the final nail in the coffin ... And he gets with her. I fully expect Seyoung to throw a huge fit and Myeongji to keep stirring the pot behind the scenes. Well, actually, if Jingoo and Hana get together, then Myeongji might as well throw the pot onto the counter because then the entire grift is up
Btw who is the ML? Jiseok or Jingoo?
It's so unfortunate that Sungho and Yeojin aren't a united front, but their relationship is a very realistic portrayal of a couple that unexpectedly loses their child. I really hope they both survive to the end so they can heal and move forward (with their grandson, of course!)
So Yeojin not only knows that Hana doesn't have a mother, but she now knows that Yunjin has passed away and that she is survived by a 7 year old son... I was NOT expecting for Yeojin to find out so soon... I was expecting for her to find out around episode 60-80. But this is way better lol
If you are familiar with makjang tropes and enjoy them, I would say it's worth watching. the mystery with dongjoo's identity is really compelling (and it isn't something I've seen in other dramas) and it keeps me watching, despite the fact that I cannot stand the side characters.... and I am not really into the ML and FLs romance. They don't really have romantic chemistry to me. I just fast forward to the scenes with the main four characters because the mystery is my favorite part of this show. But your mileage may vary...
As I am getting close to the end, the plot is picking up. Things are starting to get intense as secrets are starting to get revealed (and there are a lot of secrets!)
While I'm probably won't watch this drama again any time soon, I think it's worth a watch... especially if you like melodramatic makjangs.
What do you do when you see a suspicious old man dressed like he is up to no good lurking around a nursery looking…
Your first paragraph 💀💀💀💀💀 when the teacher asked him "who's grandfather are you?" and he didn't have a clear answer I was really expecting for him to get dragged off, not asked to replace Santa 😭😭
The writer is a person named Seo Jung per Namuwiki. They don't have a page linked to their name, but I did more…
Same here. I'm actually taking a break from this but I will probably end up dropping it if it's going to just be the Pi family getting abused as "comedy"....
I really hope it picks up soon because I really like Sowoo and Taeri's characters
This title doesn't have a writer. Can we assume it's AI? That would make a lot of sense if nonhumans were writing…
The writer is a person named Seo Jung per Namuwiki. They don't have a page linked to their name, but I did more research they also wrote another Shim Yiyoung drama, My Wonderful Life
ngl I was kinda eh on Sungho being in kahoots with Jiseok, but I love seeing him interact with Eunchong 🥺 it's so heart warming. I'm looking forward to episode 19 getting subbed later. Looks like he's dressing up as Santa and visiting Eunchong's kindergarten lol
It's clear that Sungho knows more than what Myeongji (aka the root of all evil) wants him to ... he better not show the cards in his hand aka let them know that he is investigating Eunchong. I say that because there is a high chance of him getting killed off if it that gets revealed...
Dang! They actually showed Dunas corpse, so she's not "dead", she's dead. It was nice seeing the flashback though...
I'll bet all the presents under my Christmas tree that the woman that Duna met was Myeongji. If so, Myeongji is hands down the most evil character in this drama. How greedy do you have to be to kill your own niece?
Ji Suwon stays booked and busy for a reason, she's soooo good at playing villains like this
Here's something interesting, I also lurk the soompi forums thread for this drama, and some users have speculated that somehow Seyoung isn't actually blood related to the Yoons. I can't say I agree or disagree, but it's clear that Myeongji doesn't love Yunjin as her aunt. She clearly doesn't love Yeojin as a sister-in-law since she's willing to cause her psychological pain JUST so Seyoung can inherit Hyesung. (And let's be real, Myeongji is not above lying about the father of her child. So I can potentially see Seyoung as not being blood related, despite her last name also being Yoon.)
I was not expecting for Eunchong and Yeojin to potentially find each other that quickly, but it's a pleasant surprise. This drama has been moving at a nice pace so far.. next episode looks intense
Sidenote: The hotpot (?) place that is sponsoring this drama (where Seyoung and Jingoo met in episode 16; Hana and her friend eat there some times as well) looks so good. I'm adding this to my "fast food places I need to go to in Korea" list
(For the other daily drama watchers, Frank Burger and Stella Ddeobokki are also on that list 😭)
the hypnosis is confusing me who is yujin then does mydramalist have it wrong?
she's the original daughter of shin yeojin. she disappeared while playing with Seyoung on a boat, and ended up in an orphanage... Got adopted by a family in America. She gets renamed to Duna in the orphanage since she's close to Hana. (Hana & Duna = 1&2)
She's Eunchong's mother, and she allegedly died in a car accident. Most of us, myself included don't think she's actually dead though. Her official bio on the website actually states that her car accident "questionable /suspicious", and it's implied that Seyoung and/or Myeongji were behind it. Her character has also been excluded from the posters and she wasn't in the official cast list when the drama first started, despite her importance, so we speculate that the screenwriter is purposely trying to hide her identity for story-related purposes.
KBS and MBC (SBS stopped making dailies like 3 years ago iirc) would rather invest more money into the prime time…
Hard agree about the overacting in desparate ms Seonju. I am actually taking a 2-3 week break from the drama with the hopes that the story picks up lol
Secret House is so intense, I'm on the part when Jihwan is negotiating with Taehee's family to marry her. It's like a switch flipped in him and I love it because you can tell he's had enough of taehyung's shit. I like the guy who plays taehyung too (and his mom, if theres one thing that actress will do is play an evil chaebol mother well!) I hope next year get another daily drama with a male lead
And we sure are! With the holidays coming up and with all the days off, I'm definitely hoping to catch up on my soaps 😂

Like you said, the revenge would be more satisfying if Duna was the FL..... but we'll see
