Ep 26 Jichang is officially my favorite of the siblings. I actually watched that scene of him punching Jiseok twice 🤪 But i bet he still won't learn from this and will continue to keep secrets and hurt the people (his siblings) around him for the sake of his revenge for his parents (who probably wouldn't approve)
Since it's obvious that Jiseok and Seyoung have feelings for each other, I wonder why Jiseok is okay with Seyoung despite her being the niece of Yeojin? Or was approaching her also part of his "revenge"? I don't really remember. It was said that this was also a drama of forgiveness and I wonder if that will be on Jiseok's end. After all, when Jiseok's fake protestor came a few episodes back, there were talks that Yeojin wasn't actually a corporate raider (am I remembering this correctly?) I would prefer Yeojin getting the forgiveness over ... Myeongji. If Seyoung gets the Jacqueline Taylor (elegant empire) treatment, aka a well written redemption [for a daily, let's not get crazy here] arc where she genuinely changes and becomes allied with Hana I'm down for it. I say this because she comes off as deeply unhappy more so than evil, and I'll die on that hill
Also re: Jiseok he was a teenager when his parents died so there's a possiblity that he isn't remembering it properly. In the third marriage the 2FL spent 139 episodes chasing revenge only for it to be based on a false memory, so we'll see
LMAO Jieun leaving out as soon as she saw the pair of heels in the doorway. Glad she knows whats up
Edited to add: I'm glad that they showed how Sungho and Jiseok met (coincidentally, at that) . But that also confirms that Yeojin is indeed a corporate raider... Hmm anyway onto episode 27
Watching Hana interact with Eunchong is always so heart warming... you'd think the actors were actually blood…
(almost commented on the wrong drama's page lmao) just finished episode 25 but it looks like Yeojin approached Hana at the right time since their landlord is forcing them to move out. Jichang can/probably will probably go live with Jieun and Jiseok, but Eunchong?
Jieun was 100% right when she said Jiseok wouldn't let Eunchong move in with him (and honestly, I find the way he treats Eunchong to be the most dislikeable thing about him, next to the way he asks for information [why does he think he's entitled to know what happens in his bosses personal life just because he's the director? I'm glad Jingoo didn't fold lmao])
Sorry to jiseok but his revenge subplot isn't that interesting to me rn... outside of Richard/Sungho's involvement. I think Sungho is starting to realize there's a conflict of interest here... Will he be willing to use Hana and Eunchong as collateral damage? I don't think so. Maybe Hana, but theres no way he would be down to cause pain to his long lost grandson.
(It was amusing seeing Jiseok's mom knit, that's how I get through these dailies with a calm mind 😅) the memorial scene was nice until Jiseok started tweaking and disrespecting the food. Like maybe use your adult words and tell your siblings what's going on? Because now you just look like a jerk
Always gotta love Myeongji and her toxic life advice lmao. On to episode 26
Hi there,Things have gotten worse for the FL and her family, but I think a change is in the wind. At least that…
Not surprised about to hear that the pis are still living through a series of unfortunate events ... But I do love myself some good villains... Thank you for sharing!
FL and her husband divorced . FL and ML they met more times and start to talk more about her life ,,, she doesnt…
Well, I had speculated that someone is going to die (as it is usually the case that it with these dailies) ... I'm glad it wasn't taeri 😅 he's my favorite character with his dad
what episode are you on? are you frustrated with the series so far? or pleased? is it dragging? thinking about…
TL;DR Hang in there!! It picks up!
So I am using a spoiler tag but that's only because this is long.... I promise you there are no spoilers here ... if anything, they're minimal...
Currently on episode 23.
I like this drama. I tried watching the previous two dramas in this time slot. Snow White's Revenge was okay (won't watch it again) but The Two Sisters was absolutely awful (dropped it around episode 30). Cinderella Game is better than both of them. I actually look forward to the episodes...
I understand what you mean by Hana, the FL. She gets better as the show goes on though. She seems like a typical FL "bright personality" AT FIRST ... but she's smarter than she looks. (I'm usually not a fan of the "bright personality types" until they switch up and get into super serious revenge mode... Usually I'll prefer the 2FL until then... But I prefer Hana to Seyoung.)
I like the ML. I think he's sweet and cute with Hana, I like the 2FL, she's more so her mother's puppet than actually evil. (This has potential for a good storyline where she finds her own path and is happier) Shin Aeri, Yeon Minjeong, Oh Hyesang, Joo Seyoung and Kang Seran would ABSOLUTELY run circles around Yoon Seyoung, who just throws fits and looks evil/unhappy. She has potential to pull a Jacqueline Taylor (the iconic 2FL from elegant empire)
Myeongji is going to be a great villain when things pick up, and I'm so ready. I'm eh on Jiseok rn... He comes off as misguided. It is nice seeing him interact with his siblings though...
I have a low tolerance for obnoxious gag characters in daily dramas - but I LOVE this drama because theyre there (jieun and jichang) but they grow on you. It's not like how in the Two Sisters where literally every character that weren't the mains was over the top and annoying.
The casting is on point. Na Younghee is one of my faves. No complaints about acting ability from me... everyone does a believable job portraying their character! And Eunchong is the most charming child character I've seen in this drama. This comment section is pretty much the Eunchong Fan Club for a reason lol
It's like the screenwriter did research on what made other dailies unpopular, and she's doing the opposite (seemingly). For instance, the characters are smarter and don't just give up valuable information for the bad guys. The bad guys (mostly Myeongji) actually have to put in work to figure things out... This makes it more enjoyable to watch
Will this drama end up on my "daily dramas I'd watch again" list? It's too early to tell. But if it keeps going how it's going, it'll probably make it on there...
They are being competed by:- Jeong-In and Ju-Ryun in Scandal (Snow White's Revenge)- Sang-ah and her mom in Desperate…
At least Juryun turned good at the end (and even when she was "evil" she showed more emotions besides looking like she hates her life 24/7 😭) I don't see Seyoung turning a new leaf and I'm not sure if I want her to lol
How's it going with this drama? Has the story picked up yet? Feel free to leave spoilers... I will probably end up skipping to the most current episode anyway lol
omg! idk if it's been said but adult Duna/Yunjin is played by Min Haram, who was previously known as Jin Hyewon, who older (like 10+ years ago) kpop fans may recognize as a member of Five Dolls/Co-ed School
I only found this out because I just so happened to be reading the Five Dolls members Namuwiki pages (sometimes you just wonder 'whatever happened to _____' lol)
Still gotta catch up on Thursday and Friday's episodes...
I finished this on the last day of 2024. The way the last episode was written, as well as the fates of the evil…
‼️SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER‼️
SPOILERS FOR THE LAST EPISODE INCOMING...
DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU
Like I said, this is one of the most wtf-inducing, bizarre endings I've seen in a drama...
So the series ends with Namsook trying to kill Joonki because he finally decides to leave Sabina. But instead of running him over, Sabina jumps out at the last minute and Namsook hits her. After a dramatic gathering, where you're lead to believe that Sabina wasn't going to die, she dies in Joonki's arms.
Cut to 3 years.
We cut to Sabina sitting in her house, watching a recording of her wedding with Joonki. Namsook is like "come on, let's go see Joonki, you can only see him today" ... And I'm confused because I thought Sabina is dead and Namsook should be in prison.
Anyway, they both go to Golden garden (which has been revived) and they're hiding in the bushes, watching. Dongjoo actually makes eye contact with Sabina, and Sabina gets anxious and runs away. As a viewer this confuses me more... But eventually, everything is revealed... through a conversation with Joonki, Dongjoo and Pilseung. (Sabina is watching this and crying as this happens)
Apparently.... Sabina actually is dead, and so is Namsook. Namsook gets sent to prison, (off screen) but we get a small scene of her dancing around her prison cell, before the camera pans out, revealing that she's tied a noose. So yes, Namsook has taken her own life ... and because of the sins they have committed, I'm guessing their ghosts are stuck in a version of limbo which is their house, and they're only allowed to leave their house on the day of the Golden Garden?
Excuse me, what? this drama has no mention of magical realism, although it all made sense to me when Namsook kept saying "this is because of my sins". Or at least, that's my guess.
Idk, but I wish they didn't die. At least not Namsook ... she should've went blind as karma. It would've been fitting since she was celebrating Namhee losing her sight due to MS. Part of the fun of watching a makjang to the end is seeing what kind of bad fates the villains found themselves in... I guess it would be more satisfying if those fates were lived out in the mortal world...
What's even more mindboggling is that the other three main characters decided to plant a "mother-daughter" tree in their memory. It's so weird watching Joonki, Dongjoo and Pilseung express sympathy for them... mourn their losses... considering all the things Namsook (and Sabina, to a lesser extent, have done to them)
All in all, pretty weird stuff, and I'm glad to leaving this in 2024 haha
I finished this on the last day of 2024. The way the last episode was written, as well as the fates of the evil characters were bizarre. I'll go into this in the reply of this comment, so I don't accidentally spoil anyone..
I would say watch this if you like makjang/melodramatic stories and you're new to the genre. Because there are better dramas (Hide & Seek, Sister is Alive, my daughter geum sawol, Jang Bori is Here, a number of daily dramas, etc) that handle this kind of plot way better. I personally don't see myself rewatching this for at least ten years.
Wasn't a fan of the ML/FL romance at all. They don't have chemistry to me and felt like brother and sister more than boyfriend and girlfriend. At one point it actually got hard to watch Dongjoo because it felt like Han Jihye only had one facial expression. I highly preferred Sabina / Lee Jieun's performance, especially when it started becoming apparent that she didn't want to live like her mom. Joonki was okay, and don't get me wrong, I like pilseung... Just not when he's romancing Dongjoo
Other characters... I used my fast forward button liberally. By episode 20 I was skipping through any scene I felt wasn't relevant to the plot. Not a fan of Mijoo and I found Mideum and Sarang more annoying than anything... I liked Han Soomi and Namhee (she's my favorite character TBH), but I couldn't stand Daesung until he got his life together at the very end.
Then there's Shin Namsook 💀 at first I disliked her because she's THE villain, but she's so over the top and fabulously evil, I was dragged in. Her and Sabina's evil antics kept me watching until about episode 45, when secrets start getting revealed. Once secrets start getting revealed, that's when I started liking Dongjoo as a character....
Some positive notes, the way this drama handles the whole "stolen identity/stolen life" is interesting and unique in the sense that I haven't seen a backstory like that before... And I also like how this drama also does a decent job at bringing awareness to multiple sclerosis.

Omg at SangA almost killing Taeri???? HOW?? Guess I'll be tuning in tomorrow!!
Thank you for updating me!

And I agree!
