Choi jung-yoon is the sole reason why I am putting up with it. Funny enough, her current drama is kinda similar to amor fati, but she's playing the antagonist this time. So far Amor Fati's been pretty eh and I've been neglecting it for this & secret house lol

Yes, it's hard to gauge what's considered as prime time as an international viewer, since we don't live in Korea and most of us watch these episodes hours after they air

I'll edit my comment instead of leaving a new one. Episode 15 we finally get some crumbs of details about Duna... per Eunchong's video for school, she "died in a car accident when he was 1". I knew I remember reading that somewhere!

I wouldn't be surprised if this car accident is linked to whatever event happened "six years ago" (the scene where Myeongji was paying off the detective), and if so, I wouldn't count Duna out.... this is a makjang so you aren't dead unless the body/death is shown. I've seen waaaay too many fake funerals and mislabeled urns.

I've seen makjang dramas where a character gets into a car accident, disappears for a while, is presumed dead and is later revealed to have survived because a chaebol's assistant (you know they can make ANYTHING happen) dragged her body out and discreetly sent her overseas to recover.

I don't even know anymore 😂 I'm just going to trust in the screenwriter and hope this all makes sense at the end

chaebol scheming is my favorite genre of makjang (next to fake daughters). This drama actually reminds me a bit of the drama Game of Witches, so I'll leave that as a recommendation as it also features fake children and chaebols scheming over a company. But I really wanted to talk about the scene where Yeojin scolded Jiseok for the contract cancellation!

I have a feeling that jiseok's revenge is not going to go the way he wants it to. He may even have the wrong idea. He comes off as emotionally immature (how he treats Hana) so he might have jumped the gun with blaming Yeojin. He was a teenager when it happened too, so who knows....

Anyway I'm on episode 14 and Jiseok is getting sloppy with his schemes so Seyoung and Jingoo are on to him. Right when they get THIS CLOSE to exposing him, that will be when Jiseok pulls out his trump card... Which is... he is going to lie to hana and turn her into a fake Yunjin to throw all of them off.

I was mistaken and I thought they had said that Duna/Yujin died in a car accident. I'm now in the camp of "Yunjin is going to come back, see Hana living as her, and they will become enemies for a short while until the truth is revealed and they become allies to take down the bigger evil"

Also I want Yunjin to be allive because as another commenter said, if she dies, who's going to hold Seyoung accountable for what she did? Hana could confront Seyoung, but it wouldn't be the same.

But that raises the question of what happened to Yunjin and why is the screenwriter intentionally trying to be vague? That's probably the biggest mystery in this comment section rn lol

Sidenote: I don't know how the timing for k-drama awards works but as soon as this drama is eligible, the kid playing Eunchong needs to win an award for best child actor.

KBS and MBC (SBS stopped making dailies like 3 years ago iirc) would rather invest more money into the prime time dramas, the ones that usually tend to go viral and bring in the views and money. Especially if an international audience is involved. Think those "hallyu wave" dramas (example: Penthouse, Revenge of the Seven etc). They have a higher return on investment.

Meanwhile, for dailies, the target audience is usually middle aged house wives - the morning ones air at a time where most people air at school or work - while dailies have a following on mdl, ie, the comment sections can get really exciting, that's not really representative of the kdrama community as a whole... mbc/kbs are appealing to a shrinking audience. Much like in America, the soap opera (makjang) is slowly turning into a dying art. I think mbc dailies are slightly higher quality (cinematography wise) than kbs dailies, but Cinderella Game and Scandal both look good.

The only daily drama I've seen with a relatively high budget is Game of Witches. That show is shot beautifully and the sets are crisp. I'm well beyond the halfway point in that drama (usually when the budget shrinks) and I still get blown away by the cinematography. Now if you want to see a daily drama with absolute garbage cinematography, watch Amor Fati. No wonder SBS threw in the towel after that one. Worst shot kdrama... Hands down the worst cinematography I've seen in my entire life.

I attempted to look into the screenwriter (Seo Jung) and there's absolutely no information on them which leads me to believe that this is their first drama, and it's definitely showing lol

I'm glad SangA called the police on the Clown Brigade because that's 100% what I would've done. Yes, they burned you with the insurance settlement but that behavior surely isn't going to make them change their minds

I've never met a more obnoxious kdrama family than the Pis. I've never been on Team No One so hard in my life.

I might temporarily drop this and come back in 2 weeks with the hope that the car insurance subplot is done with 😅 as you can probably tell I'm not a fan

100% if I watched this without subs and missed the flashback scenes of them together, I would've guessed that Namjin isn't Seonju's husband but rather her enemy that she has a crush on...

Watching SangA and Sowoo talk about their deteriorating relationship is so refreshing compared to watching Seonju and Namjin.... I feel like the latter is going to drag their separation out whereas the former will probably divorce quickly.

Sowoo vs Namjin ... The male leads are aware of each other ... I'm on team Sowoo for now until the end, but Namjin was good in that scene too. He's a funny man, the shamlessness is up there with the woman in my icon (Yeon Minjeong from Jang Bori is here. Absolutely watch this if you want an off the walls makjang villain lol)

Not only did Seonju lose her man but it also looks like she's going to be out of a job as well, since her company got hit with the mystical k-dramas red tape of doom that means the feds are here and they're ready to seize some assets. I wouldn't be surprised if SangAh somehow was behind this. This show is very predictable in the sense that all evil acts are traced back to either SangAh or another member of the Jin family, while the Pis are consistently down on their luck... to the point that watching their misfortunes can get draining.

Next episode preview: we are circling back to the Clown Brigade (Pi family) trying to beg money from the Jin family. If it's meant for the car accident settlement... it's time to wrap this subplot up. This subplot is meant to establish the pi family as "good" and the jin family as "bad" but the Pi family's approach is so obnoxious (and watching Maneun be in denial towards Soonae never fails to make me cringe because Soonae doesn't exactly hide that she dislikes her) that I actually enjoy watching the Jin family knock them down (for now...) But hopefully something happens soon enough so that they can realize that the Jin family is the enemy and not the chummy neighborhood pals that Maneun seems to think they are. It's cartoonishly annoying, actually

Sidenote but Jin Architecture (the building) looks very cool. Probably the coolest "company" setting I've seen in a daily, I wouldn't mind working in an office that looks like that lol

Soompi's thread for this drama has translations of the character summaries and for Hana, hers says that she is raising her friends son after her friend (Duna) died..I'm trying to remember where exactly it was said that she died in a car accident....it might have been said in the drama.

The fact that Hana was considering selling her organs for $$$... it's been a while since I've seen a makjang FL who was in THAT bad of a situation.... the reversal will be glorious

I'm only on episode 9 but Eunchong is THE BEST kid character I've EVER seen in a makjang drama ... 😭 protect him at all costs. If anything happens to him, I'm out!!

Seyoung may be the "villain" 2FL but she's just a marionette. Myungji is the true evil, the puppet master. I've seen evil mother-daughter duos in dailies before, but I've never seen a mother control her daughter's life like this (usually the daughter keeps some degree of free will, or wants to go along with the mother's schemes. I feel like Seyoung begrudgingly goes along with her). Makes for a complex relationship and I can't wait to see how it plays out. Now I'm off to watch Ji Suwon in the brave yong sujeong 🤪
