This supports the theory I've seen floating around that Duna and Hana are actually sisters .....
Call that the extermination theory!! Lol
But yes, Yeojin's coldness towards Seyoung is pretty subtle since they don't really interact. A good example are all the the scenes where Seyoung greets Yeojin, Yeojin's body language gives "ugh why is she talking to me again" π
This supports the theory I've seen floating around that Duna and Hana are actually sisters .....
I've seen it thrown around in soompi and also on some Korean sites (mostly bloggers recapping) ... I saw those about a few weeks ago. I found them because it was back when they first showed adult!Duna and I was trying to figure out who her actress was. but I brushed the theories off because we didn't know what we know now! I also saw some people speculate that Seyoung isn't actually related to Yeojin by blood...
But your theory actually breaks down how they would be related, and now that we know Hana's mom may or may not be alive, I give a thumbs up to your theory ππΎ
(It would also give Hana a reason to pursue revenge against Seyoung and Myeongji, since they would've killed her sister...)
And with most of these dailies, the FL usually ends up inheriting the chaebol company. Your theory explains how it would work out
I also thought that there was some kind of familial relation between Hana and Yeojin ... At the very least, Hana triggers some of Yeojin's maternal instinct - something that Seyoung can't even do, Yeojin is very cold towards her- which should account for something ...
How did Se Yeong and Jin Gu become a couple in the first place? The woman is insufferable. And I don't believe…
Because Yeojin funded the heart surgery that saved Jingus life and sponsored him as a child, he feels loyal to YJ... and YJ picked him as a successor since Yunjin is missing ... if he marries Seyoung he can inherit the company. (I don't get it either but they will be splitting soon π€·πΎββοΈ)
Alright here are my thoughts. I didn't watch as much as I wanted to because turns out you can't really concentrate on work to the sounds of the three stooges trying to beg their way out of a jail cell lol.
seeing Sowoo and SangAh with baby Taeri π it was so sweet. Makes you wonder wtf happened. I'm also currently watching amor fati, where Choi Jungyoon plays the lead... and it reminded me of her character there. In amor fati, ironically, she's playing the one who gets cheated on. (Compare Yeonhee from Amor Fati to SangA and they feel like they're played by two different people. Yeonhee is sweet and nice, SangA is... well, everyone calls her a witch for a reason. I love to see it)
Sowoo and Namjin have insane chemistry. Like not in the romantic sense, but I find the scenes where Sowoo is confronting him to be so magnetic. Very cat and mouse energy. (It doesn't help that I find both actors attractive π«£) I hope they keep this energy when they inevitably all end up working at Jin Architecture
"it must be fun to be you" - Sowoo to SangA.
SangAh is interesting because she tends to go off and do... permanent decisions for ... Her parents approval. But why? Soonae isn't her bio mom, but... it's been established that Soonae loves her just as her own daughter ... Meanwhile... JungBae... is her bio dad and she is willing to do engage in crazy people-pleasing behaviors for his approval..like getting married? adopting a baby? Girl what π there's some kind of abnormal psychology going on here
Usually in these affair dramas, when it comes to the chaebol families, the father will usually take an issue with the affair partner when they mary into the family... usually because the father liked the original partner. I'm expecting that with Namjin... where JungBae will be cold to him. Not surprised to see that Soonae likes Namjin though
Seonju has started boxing ... yes put that energy into something constructive... watching her try to convince Namjin to stay is ... π¬ I prefer watching Sowoo and SangA navigate this because SangA is trying to have her cake and eat it too, but Sowoo is out here trying to play chess... he's willing to keep his family together but he's no punk. Seonju is in the delusional stage still....
I love how yang hyejin (namjins mom) is always rocking the silver hair lol. This is the third drama I've seen her in with it and I think it suits her well. Character-wise, I like how she knows what's up and has recognized that Namjin is having an affair. But the stealing of the lottery ticket? That's dirty work (also, if you play the lottery, always make sure you sign the back of your ticket, so that on the off chance that you do win, no one can steal your ticket and try to cash it in! I guess Seonju didn't realize that... Pretends to be shocked!)
No comment on the little sister's impending love triangle π I hope Jinju gets a subplot.... for all I complain about the Pis, she's my favorite of the 4. (Admittedly, the bar is low)
I'll watch more tomorrow. Btw the screenwriter seems to like naming their antagonists SangA... in their other drama (my wonderful life), the antagonist is also named SangA.... makes you wonder if they had beef with a female chaebol heiress named SangA π
The possibility that Hanaβs mother might be still alive piqued my interest. Who is she? Why she left her daughter?…
My personal theory? She's going to be a famous piano player and suffered some kind of accident which causes her to lose her memory. (By complete coincidence, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was linked to the Yoons) she may have a new name as well.
So basically similar to the role that Ji Suwon played in Vengeance of the Bride lol
Buckle up y'all because Yeojin's setting the plan in motion... this will be a wild ride. I'd be lying through my teeth if I said I was bothered by Yeojin making Hana her fake daughter lol I'm so ready
Yet again, all evil in this drama can be traced to Myeongji. I'm sure she didn't mean it but she's the one who put the idea in Yeojin's head. Myeongji is wild for slapping Hana in the middle of the office though but it looks like the clown comes back to bite next episode. It was so satisfying seeing Yeojin shut everything down... but it definitely won't be as satisfying as seeing Myeongji getting banned from Hyesung tomorrow π
Something interesting that came up this episode... Yeojin asked Ms. Jang to dig up Hana's birth family. I think Hana's birth mother is still alive, only because Ms. Jang reported that she only had a father on paper.... but in the very first scene of this drama was Hana playing the piano with her mother... Now that we know Yunjin/Duna's fate, the biggest mystery is what's happened to Hana's birth family...
Sungho moving into the guest room π I'm excited to see his interactions with Jichang, Hana and Eunchong. I'm totally looking forward to Sungho and Jichang opening up a fast food store in the near future in true makjang fashion. I know Jichang expressed that he wanted to open a restaurant at one point, but he just needed to save money. I'm actually surprised no one has opened a store yet ...
Catching up on this today while I work (left off at episode 18). Considering how I can recognize the lead's voices, and I really don't care about the side characters, I'll know exactly when to look over at my iPad. Stay tuned for my thoughts later lol
I love how she's morally grey. Definitely prefer it to the dramas where the chaebol's are one-dimensionally evil…
Agreed. I've seen characters like Myeongji's so many times in dailies (literally just look at ji suwon's previous role...) ... Yeojin is way more interesting!
Ep 26Jichang is officially my favorite of the siblings. I actually watched that scene of him punching Jiseok twice…
Ep 27 Aww Sungho bought out the house so Hana Jichang and Eunchong won't be homeless.
Yeojin getting reckless actually tracks with what's going on in the story... think about it... She just found her grandson ... son of her daughter who's been missing/dead for 20 years... And she got a threatening letter that's not threatening her life but his? of course shes going to get desparate and try to do whatever she can to save her grandson.
I see a lot of people zeroing in on the safety net comment... I didn't find it offensive because realistically speaking Hana kind of is a safety net.... Because if Hana wasn't there, Eunchong would most likely be in a children's home [potentially getting adopted by someone abusive] and thus probably wouldn't have the bright personality (which he had gotten as a result of Hana's love). Well, that's my opinion on it.
Myeongji has the absolute worst timing of any villain in a makjang. πππ You'd think she was the protagonist with her bad luck. All of that planning and sneaking around for the conference to be canceled AND for the safe to be completely empty? π see when you do clownery, the clown comes back to bite...
Who is Danny? Jiseok's assistant?
And here we go!!! Yeojin has come up with the idea to make Hana her fake daughter... Aka the moment I have been waiting for. (Fake daughters are my favorite trope in makjang dramas. This may actually be the first drama I've seen where the "good" character becomes the chaebol's fake daughter, normally it's the evil one lol) The preview shows what Jingoo thinks of it, but I wonder what hana thinks? Who knows.... She could be all for it.
