Seems like the ML (Kangmo) is one of those MLs that can't take shit seriously until he meets the FL and magically matures. He's gonna annoy me until we get to that point lol. On episode 80 and is it just me or are Baekho and Taepyung doing more for this revenge than Jangmi is...

Crazy how I originally liked "cold city man" Junho and I was ready for his villain era but this whole "I'm going to marry you regardless of your feelings" feels dated af. Ideally I would've let Junho reveal the truth then the three of them team up but nope we gotta go for maximum drama. I am way more into his storyline with Hwayoung than "which brother will Jangmi choose" tbh

Scamwol and Hongju are ineffectual villains. We been knew but shame on me for thinking Hongju would be an actual threat based on the press releases lol. Hwayoung and her secretary (Junho's dad? 👀 I think he is) are the only true villains here. Anyway looking forward to watching scamwol lose her money to this AI crypto scam. I like hwayoung better as a villain just because her evil plan isn't just be a hanger on to some old CEO...

OH and I've seen a lot of dailies and evil characters getting beat up/bullied in prison is nothing new but damn are the ladies in Hwayoung's cell brutal lollll I'd go as far as to say their ring leader is doing more for this revenge than Jangmi is 😭

Oh and Baekho being adopted as well is something I didn't see coming. I thought he was blood related...

Oh yes Lee Shia playing a legit villain would be intense and I would be here for it. I am not fluent in Korean so I'm not exactly sure what's considered good acting but Jeongwon never took me out the show (none of the characters did... Manager Gu is literally a master class on how to write a good gag character)

Ah yeah... Seo Hyunjoo loves her romance. Her dramas frustrate me because she creates these amazing premises for revenge but then bogs it down with love triangle shit since all her FLs usually like to marry for power while the ML watches like a sad puppy (I'm bracing myself for Baekho and Junho fighting over Jangmi 🙄)
And the revenge always feels mid AF for what the FL goes through. Second Husband might be different tho because I know it got extended... I should probably dust that off my watch list...

KBS2 better have Lee Dohyun or the woman who wrote Queens House on speed dial. Hell, even the woman who wrote Cinderella Game/Gracious Revenge. We are hungry for good dailies 😭

I low-key feel like PIR is going to end up switching writers midway through... just a feeling ... and honestly while that's usually a red flag that may be the only thing that makes me return to it LOL I think the writer is in over her head because for a first drama the premise was VERY ambitious... And I think that's what got me 😭

Was YJH considered the ML in penthouse? He felt more like a supporting character in revenge/escape from the seven. I keeping having to tell myself that his character is NOT yang jinmo 😭

His character is standing on business so far!! I can't believe this his is first lead role

I will say there's A LOT of characters like there's like 4 families this drama follows but I'm sure the more I watch I'll be able to match names to faces (until then I keep the asianwiki page up on my phone while I watch lol)

Oh and there's a lot of familiar faces in this drama as well!

As for the first man idk how far you are so I won't spoil but if a certain character ends up dying I will absolutely drop that drama like it's hot....but besides that I am going to need Sukhee to get more lines of dialogue besides "Jangmi Sukhee ddal! Jangmi yeppeuda" ...it got old around episode 20...

Oh yeah I loved that too.. the morally ambiguous part. I want to see Lee Shia in more intense roles like that... especially if it's a darker weekend drama? yes!!!

Lee Dohyun is quickly becoming one my favorite writers because I love how she writes morally grey characters and she can DEFINITELY write an evil chaebol.

I definitely recommend suji and uri, it's not a "drop everything on your watchlistright now" type of drama but it's a solid daily (and if you're watching the first man it's funny because Eunjung and Oh Hyunhyung have the exact opposite relationship in S&U 💀)

Sitcom scenes are definitely still here but they don't take me out the drama.

There will probably be a business related subplot since according to Kocowa Uhm Hyunkyung characters ai product gets stolen by a larger company... Which actually interests me (and I'll be geeked if this turns into a revenge drama 😅 especially because I know both Yoon Jonghoon and Uhm Hyunkyung would body that shit!)

The tone seems rather serious for a kbs1 daily. Good Luck this is not (and thank God!) I don't see myself dropping this drama

First things first ... I appreciate that the token conglomerate isn't a fashion company!!! (I swear it if I have to sit through yet ANOTHER stolen design subplot...) I actually like that this daily is centered around the tech industry.

I only care about kbs1 dailies if there's someone in the cast I like, I literally only watched suji and uri bc of Eunjung Kang Byul and Oh Hyunkyung .
Kang Byuls character felt like a KBS2 villain which I think it's why I liked that one lol

I liked Seokkyung whenever she would come for Eunbyeols neck during the "dantae and Seojin are married arc" lmao.

you also couldn't stand eunbyeol? word 😭 I think when Seojin gave her the memory altering pills was when I clocked out of the teens storyline for good. Like you spent half this drama talking about hating Rona at least stand on your antagonist business and compartmentalize and cover up all your crimes like all the makjang villains before you did 😭 (I think it's something with that actress too because I ended up dropping Perfect Family because of her character....)

Ironically Seojin was my favorite character (she also had my favorite apartment too lol) while Eunbyeol was my least. Mari was one of my faves too especially how it was revealed she secretly ran a bath house to provide for Jeni 😭
Suryeon only interested me when she became Aegyo and started playing chess with Dantae. Otherwise she felt ... "Mary Sue" ish from what I remember.

As for return!
I like jahye and how smart she is. Ie how she and her assistant used the neighborhood seniors to figure out who owned the truck. I also like Ko Hyunjung in general.

Nara is my favorite character I feel like she's about to break out of of "stay at home housewife" mode and put her law education to good use. (I have a feeling that Dalrae isn't actually her daughter. I also can't make sense of Inho he keeps me guessing...)

Mijeong being the victim is good (story wise) because she has layers like the fact that she knew all the men when they were in high school? She's full of secrets and that's going to keep this investigation interesting

Male lead... I keep thinking he's Seo Junyoung 😭 but I like how he's literally the only non calculative male character in the show. I like how he's hot blooded but somewhat smart, like when he found Mijeongs chipped tooth and made the connection.

Speaking of calculated male characters I like the 3 stooges (what I call hakbeom and friends) I like how they're like ... Chaebols gone wild. Like the men of hera palace if they ran around absolutely unchecked. These men are going to cause damage in storyline (as well as Jinju and her clique) and I can't wait to see it 👀

I also like how the story keeps you guessing. Like I thought Inho (?) ran Mijeong over with his genesis but THANKFULLY there was more to the story (I was like no way they're revealing all this in episode 3 😭 glad I was wrong lol)

I dropped this around episode 15 but I'm lurking because I like to see how dramas end lol but I can answer your question:

So the two FLs. Myeonghee initially was used as a surrogate mother for Taeho who is the CEO of Adele Group. She did this to pay for her sister Danhee's cancer surgery. However Taeho never disclosed to Myeonghee that he was married so that caused drama. He pretended he was going to marry her as well. He did this because Jeongran couldn't get pregnant and Taeho needs a heir. Due to this, Myeonghee got unfairly tagged with the mistress tag.

Which lead to Myeonghee getting killed. Jeongran does this because it turns out she can get pregnant after all! However Myeonghee's son is still the eldest so that causes Jeongran to turn to murder!

While myeonghee passed away , Danhee found out that her baby was still alive! Jinju/Chloe's dad (who happens to be an OBGYN, Dr. Baek) helps deliver the baby right in the medical examiner room. Danhee decides to act as Myeonghee as revenge and raise Minjun as her son... Her endgame is to have Minjun take over Adele Group. Danhee keeps a visible presence within Adele and is known for being competent

However Jeongran had given birth to Hyunjun shortly after and his existence complicates the succession battle because Jeongran is Taeho's official wife (funny enough Taeho seems to like Danhee/Myeonghee better lmao) Jeongran wants Hyunjun to inherit Adele for her own reasons...

Jinju was born the same day as Minjun and they are essentially boyfriend and girlfriend after the first time skip. This is the hint of the first connection because Danhee opposed Minjun studying abroad which Minjun wanted to do with Jinju. Although Danhee assumes Yuna is Minjun's girlfriend instead so she doesn't actually SEE Jinju.

Jinju's life is perfect until she and her dad are in a car accident (probably the most dramatic one I've seen in a daily lol) that is orchestrated by, you guessed it, Adele Group. Why? Many things but the main thing is Taeho wants to acquire Dr. Baek's biotech firm.

She links up with James in the aftermath and goes to the US, learns business and cuts her hair. She starts going by Chloe... This is when the FLs link up - Danhee hires Chloe as a consultant for the very same biotech firm that Taeho stole from Dr. Baek. Thats the connection between them, two women who lost someone due to Adele Group and want revenge!

Oh yes I like your idea! One of the scenes that stood out to me was when Jeongwon and Kibeom were arguing and Jeongwon was like "I want to fly like a stork" while kibeom was trying to get her to live like a smaller, less powerful bird. I really wanted to see how far Jeongwon would go to maintain that "stork lifestyle" 😭

I also wish we could've seen more of "Jin Jeongwon" because I loved seeing her manipulate Taeseok and the man behind Taeseok. Youngchae becoming a better person would've been cool to see as well. But I like how at the end of the drama you can't squarely put a character in the box of "good" vs "evil" (well except Jin Taeseok lol)

This drama was so good. I have a feeling that I would've had way more patience with pearl in red if it didn't immediately follow this one lol
