Same here. I felt like the part concerning the foster parents were inspired from another novel (I can't remember which one. In that one foster parents treated her poorly on instigation of the madam or concubine of the family, basically not her birth mother. Reaching age to return to family home, instigator wanted her dead.). Will continue watching the drama because now I don't know what will/can happen.

Jiang Yi, Jiang Zhan, and Jiang Si are children of the eldest son of the Jiang family [he holds the family title]. He has no concubines unlike his younger brother. Jiang Qian was birthed by the brother's main wife. Jiang Pei is from a concubine and so is Jiang Qiao.

Hopefully not due to the violent content in the episode.

I was pretty much ignoring what the actor had to say because of his role, until his last words.

Should have suspected the husband was part of the forensics team. I had taken a screencap of flashback of Hyunsoo's memorial service and saw the husband's name but didn't make the association. In last week's epis, he introduced himself as a fellow alumni of Cheonho but was "ignored". Amazing how Cheonho could still figure it out before the Captain!

Revealed that the husband received money for surgery, moved to the US and later passed away. But who knows if that was a trick. Someone is placing flowers at her Hyunsoo's resting place. And the photo of Hyunsoo and possibly her husband is partially covered by the flowers each time.

The silhouette in the car at the end of the ep does def look like Chaeman, but the one who came and threw the lighter fits Hyunsoo's father more. I can see the cane/stick from at least 2 diff angles. Waiting for amon-Tues for the next epis

Watched the ending part of ep6 again. And the man who threw the lighter was walking w/ a limp. You can even see he's holding a stick, similar to Hyunsoo's father in ep4 who came to see Yeonho. Even the shoes are similar. About the scar, I didn't see it on the driver's hand--what I saw was a shadow line that was moving? But definitely Chaeman has a scar, saw it in ep1.

He makes a slight appearance at end of episode 18. The start of the case to air next week.

Yes, that particular company came into existence in 2016. All drama/movie projects seems to star actor Zhang Jia Yi (he's also credited as art director for Judge Dee Mysteries series). Was looking at the intro credits and noticed several English scriptwriters named as main writers for the drama. More like pick their ear, from what Captain Yi did before his subordinate handed him the straw hat. His facial hair better matches the one we've been seeing doing the killings though. They did suspect there's an insider in the yamen.

I was rewatching episode 2 again and noticed the longer nail on his pinkie! You can see it very clearlybas he dons on the straw hat as he walks out of the bath house

If I remember correctly, when the fortune teller was before the magistrate in an earlier episode, he looked up and was about to say something to him then stopped, as if he recognized who he was. That was my first clue there was something wrong w/ the magistrate.

I had to go watch the episodes w/ Vietnamese subs. The English subs left a lot to be desired.

Regarding #2. I've read the first volume of the novel in Vietnamese (have 50 chapters left in the 2nd volume to reach the ending), and there is such a "storyteller" character: If I remember correctly, his name is Shen Gun. Ding Liu's godfather met him in his younger years while traversing the desert hunting for snakes (that's how Ding Liu's godfather got his name). Shen Gun travels to many different places documenting strange stories from the locals. Chang Dong tasked Fei Tang to contact Shen Gun through QQ before he, Fei Tang and Ye Liu Xi went into the desert along with Ding Liu and Gao Shen. They had short contact by phone and Shen Gun warned them going into the desert might be dangerous. The trio (or rather Chang Dong) hung up on him during the conversation.

Several of Wei Yu's novels have been translated to other languages other than English. The Vietnamese translation for this novel is no longer in print (I'm hoping for a re-release from the publisher), otherwise trying to obtain a used copy is pricey...settling for the "audiobook" version for the time being (not sure if it's official).
