Even though these characters might seem similar on the surface ,all sharing the same noble status, after all ,they…
I see your point, but honestly, C-dramas all follow the same trends. It's not just Meng Ziyi. Most historical dramas coming out this year and next are somehow royalty-themed. I can think of at least 10 big-budget ones with the FL as a princess or noblewoman. So she's not totally to blame she chose the best thing she had. Take xianxia: only 2 or 3 dramas were made this year, and they went to actresses with specific backgrounds. That's just how the industry works. I know a lot of actors want to try something new, but there aren't many good scripts. So they pick the best out of bad options. She probably didn't have much of a choice either. When a big project comes to her, she has to take it. It's a cutthroat industry. Not everyone gets offers in different genres.Consider, for example, that female actress with minimal acting ability, yet everyone knows she has a powerful supporter behind her. She secured the best scripts across various genres, and whenever these dramas are successful, the credit goes to her. However, it's widely understood that those dramas were destined for success simply because they were the only distinctive and high-quality scripts available. If she were exceptionally talented or extraordinarily beautiful, it would be more understandable — but in C-ent, background connections often matter most.

After blossom. There is Empress reborn and now blossom of power. That's 3 dramas where she's pretty much playing…
Even though these characters might seem similar on the surface ,all sharing the same noble status, after all ,they are actually very distinct. In Blossom, she played a well intentioned, kind, and well-mannered woman who occasionally resorted to small schemes to navigate her hardships. She believed in love and kindness above everything else. In Blossoms of Power, however, she's cold-hearted and power-hungry. She has no patience for men unless they bring her some advantage. Her expression remains impeccably controlled, could be beacuse she genuinely couldn't care less about most things unless they serve her interests. She's also remarkably blunt about her motives at times. In Empress Reborn, though driven by revenge, she portrays a much more delicate woman. She doesn't make a scene; instead, she sits quietly in the corner, sipping her tea while her plans unfold. Yet there's a lingering sadness within her, a residue from the hardships of her first life. These differences may be subtle, but still noticable in her acting. She keeps landing these roles because she excels at conveying these nuances and their tiny, yet crucial, distinctions

I heard it probably has 2 ending. But most said it has happy ending? But watching some leak and the recent teaser,…
I've also seen leaked videos that hinted it could be a HE after a long separation, but I hope it's not... They have some sweet moments, but everything else is just angst 😭

I was curious to know what impact it had in the AWARD and critical acclaim circuit : and that's when I looked…
Actually, this drama did great domestically in China. I remember a lot of theorists and people interested in history, poetry, or psychology were talking about it. Though I pity how the actor's hard work didn't pay off as much and so many episodes were cut, I still love that this is a hidden gem for those who understand and appreciate it.

Why?
spoiler from novel : SE is the most suitable ending for this story. It's about how the FL never really had a choice all along. The ML deserves the suffering and pain so he can finally understand what he had neglected to give her. He wanted power, and he wanted love but he had to realize that one of them had to be sacrificed.

And thinking about it, it gives me Goodbye My Princess vibes
there are many similarities. ML is not that red flag though

The two people that she killed it was definitely explained why she targeted them first.
Personally, I pay attention to every little detail. And when I notice that some details aren't informative or don't pay off later, the plot starts to feel messy to me. I think they might tie everything together by the end and connect all the dots . but the timing just isn't right for a 40-episode drama. That kind of slow-burn payoff usually works better in shorter dramas or movies. Having to remember everything that happened up to the later episodes kills the joy.but idk still some people might like it this way.

Yeah, that's my point. Things are just explained. Did we care if they died or not? No. It actually didn't matter to me. They were probably villains that I never hated, and I never knew much about. I was just told they deserved to die. No emotional investment.

I guess you came direct better than 2 veterans directors 🙄🙄🙄
I'm not a director .I'm a fan of cinema. There are plenty of directorial choices in this drama that deserve praise. But as I've said before, the real problem is a messy script that wasted all of that potential. If you pay closer attention while watching the new episodes, you'll see that most things happen randomly. The plot lacks true consistency. Basic cause-and-effect reasoning is missing, and at times, events don't even feel connected.

What are you even talking about? Are we even watching the same show? You either just a hater or you don't understand…
I'm not a hater. I'm simply disappointed.People have different opinions and perspectives. You have only one drama in your list and have already rated it a ten, and the show hasn't even ended yet — and you accuse me of being a hater? I'd rather be a hater than a brainless fan.

OK, I have finally made my mind. This show is annoyingly boring. Annoying because the plot points are actually interesting, but it's executed in the most boring way. A little spoiler makes this drama lose its spark. Most of the episodes are spent on pointless long talks. We're being told most of the things and not shown. They have introduced so many characters all at once. The people she takes revenge on — we don't even have time to hate them or even know them. We just have to blindly accept they're bad and did bad things. same with good people. There is actually nothing exciting about this story. Political points are poorly executed considering it was adapted from a good novel.A slow drama means a drama where the plot moves forward slowly. It doesn't mean a drama with two episodes of random things and one episode that fast-forwards through all the important events. This is not slow. This is poorly written.script writers wasted a good idea.

Is anyone else confused? I mean, some parts of the show are great — the music, the directing, and the acting. But some parts are so random, boring, and confusing. I don't want to drop it, but I don't know — maybe this show is more suitable for binge-watching...I've watched up to ep7
