okay, I don't know if this is confirmed but even though I adore Chang Wook, I'll be so disappointed if he's going…
Yes I believe it's confirmed. Chang-wook plays a new character though, "Chang An" so he won't be replacing Yang Yang as Ruo Bai but he is the new male lead. I'm also disappointed 'cause I totally fell for Yang Yang's portrayal of Ruo Bai. </3 And I just finished the last episode and I'm so depressed they're not continuing it from where they left off and taking a totally different route... sigh. :-(
I just finished the first season (late, I know lol) and I'm so sad that Yang Yang won't be reprising his role as Ruo Bai (since he's listed in the cast though, I'm assuming he might make a cameo?). I love JCW a lot (he's one of my fave Korean actors) but I'm just sad that I won't get to see the continuation of Ruo Bai and Bai Cao's love story.
If the press-conference articles are true, An Yue Xi will replace Hu Bing Qing as Bai Cao and I'm assuming her new love interest is Ji Chang-wook's character, Chang An. So sad that Bai Cao doesn't end up with Ruo Bai. I guess they're totally changing the storyline from the novel then ;;
He's the perfect package tbh ♥ He's got the acting chops and killer visuals. He's also good at singing, love his voice. Totally fell for him as Ruo Bai in "The Whirlwind Girl". Too perfect.
it's sad that we don't really know what happens to cha sik and who ends up with yoo seul, but i think that was…
+100 I totally agree, he needed that extra push to play the piece and the anger that he felt when his mom said that she wouldn't be able to motivate him as a writer as she was not a genius/not successful, was exactly what fired him up to master the piece. Loved it and I also felt that the ending was resolved nicely and extremely beautiful/motivating.
I also love the way you described how each of them ended up on the "stages" they dreamed of. If you put it that way, it was a very nice and clean ending.
I'm so sad this is over, but this drama left me with a very important message. Even though you can't achieve your initial dream, there is always another path for you to take (in Cha-shik's case). Also, you should live while enjoying life and doing things that you love (Jin-mok's case).
Such a beautiful and heartwarming story. Although some were disappointed with the ending, as a Ji-soo fan, I was quite satisfied even though it would have been amazing if he had played at the concours. I liked how they resolved it - they showed us that he mastered the piece at the end and was able to attract his own audience and even earned a "Bravo!" from the street vendor, while playing at the piano he always practiced on. It shows that he was a genius in his own rite, that he could do it through his own will, even if he wasn't Hyun Myung-se's son. Most importantly, I like how they showed that he found his new dream (in the credits, it showed the piano that Yoo-seul's mom gave to Cha-shik's mom and a lot of sheet music to show that he was interested in continuing to fulfill his dream as a pianist).
I also didn't see that plot twist coming - that Cha-shik actually went to the rooftop and wanted to jump off and that he was also like Yoo-seul in that sense. I like how it came full circle in the end and everything made sense (the reason why his mom told him that lie, and why Cha-shik saved Yoo-seul).
Lastly, why is Ji-soo's acting so amazing??? That scene where he was venting to his mother about how betrayed he felt and asking why she did that, and his mom replying that she only did that because had the kind of thoughts that Yoo-seul had too, and she said that it wouldn't work if she tried to motivate him as usual because she's just a measly writer, how he said "This is the angriest I've been in my whole entire life." I could just watch that scene on repeat. So many feels.
Overall, a beautiful story with a realistic ending. I loved it! Also, I couldn't stop squealing at all the cuteness that is Cha-shik and Yoo-seul!!! Her constant nagging, her sweet smiles when he cracked jokes, her longing for him when he was gone, whenever she pulls him close to speak to him!!!! And that last scene of them two, where he helps her apply her lipstick. So sweet!!! Ji-Soo and So-hyun need to work together again, I love their romantic chemistry.
Lastly, kudos to all the cast members especially Ji-soo, So-hyun, and Jae-ha! They all have such huge potential to be top actors and I wish the best for them in the future. They need to reunite in a longer drama next time hehe.♥
I loved that part where Cha-shik was like "Je-an-shi-bel? Aigoo sounds like a swear word!" + "Al-le-gra-tto, Oooh you mean Arigato" LOL, Ji Soo's comedic timing is so on point, I cracked up hahaha.
Also, his relationship with Writer Jung (his mom) is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE. I also loved that scene where he changed his "fashion" just because of Yoo-seul's mom (honestly I was so pissed at Yoo-seul's mom there like wtf don't call him a thug, he's taking care of your daughter, I would be so grateful if I were her... can't believe how judgmental she is...)
Anyways, it's so refreshing to have a main character like Cha-shik in dramaland and I'm so grateful for this tall cinnamon roll. Love him so much!!!! Ji Soo, please marry me. ♥
Cha-shik is love!!!!
That ending gave me chills, he is so good omg.
I love how his character is so different from the typical male lead. So hardworking, so cute, so cheeky, so helpful, so optimistic and just all sorts of wonderful.
Also, I really need Ji Soo and Kim Sohyun in a 16 episode+ drama together, their chemistry is off the charts and both of their acting skills are top-notch.
I'm in love, I wish this was more than 3 episodes. So excited for Saturday, but I can't believe it's the last episode. This is a true gem though. Love it.
This is such a great article! I agree with all the ones on the list that I've seen, my favourites being Healer, Lee Hwon, and Li Da Ren. I would also include Park Soo Ha from IHYV!
Ji Soo's acting was brilliant in episode 1, especially that scene where he was laughing/crying at the same time omg. So proud of him. Chashik is also so different from his previous roles, Bokdong and Hajoon. I love how he has so much range. So excited for episode 2, and sad at the same time because this is only 3 episodes!
Also, Sohyun is amazing as always - she really takes up some very challenging roles and nails it every time. Love her!
PS. I'm already loving the chemistry between Sohyun and Ji Soo, I hope they'll have a longer project together next time.
I'm pretty sure I'll be listening to the OST for a while. LOVE that the director released all the instrumentals!…
Same omg! I just listened to the full OST today. I absolutely adore all the songs and some of the tracks hit me right in the feels and bring back all the memories. I love 느루사랑, 남겨진 이들을 위해, 소년 박해영, and 그리움의 발자취 so soso much for the instrumentals - I feel like crying when I listen to them, so beautiful! I miss Signal so much, where is my Signal fix for the week?! ㅠㅠㅠㅠ *sighs*
Im still having a hard time to move on with another drama ><
When Friday comes around I'm going to miss it even more knowing there won't be new episodes this week. ㅠㅠ Still in denial, the withdrawal symptoms are so real.
