no major spoilers in this comment, but i do hint at a few things, so i'm tagging my comment as a spoiler anyways.
this drama is incredible... usually i'm one to wait about how i feel about a drama bc i think when it comes to how smth impacts me, "only time will tell", but this drama blew my expectations out of the water. i've watched a few episodes of the original cold case before, but it has been so long and i also never watched it avidly, so i cannot say if this drama is what it is because it's a remake or not.
if you are looking for main characters to empathize with or unpredictable cases, i think this drama may not be the one. i found myself correctly guessing the killers for a majority of the episode, but it does not mean the cases are any less interesting. and just because ishikawa yuri is the only character from the detective team that has a background story that helps you empathize with the character does not mean this drama lacks emotion. more than anything, it helps you empathize with the victims and sometimes even the criminals themselves. maybe it is the effect of having cases go so long without "justice", but i found myself feeling somewhat of an attachment to characters that only lasted an episode, even when i thought i wasn't going to. the topics and issues being discussed with these cases, like child abuse, family miscommunication, molestation/sexual abuse, xenophobia, etc., really activate one to think deeper and further, as if the cases were also educational lessons on anthropology, sociology, and/or psychology. what even further pushes the emotions is the acting. yoshida yo plays ishikawa yuri as a strong woman who displays a variety of emotion, yet stays stoic until everything bursts. every guest actor is brilliant as well. i never had one thought about anyone's acting being off or anyone being miscast. (nijiro murakami had to be my favorite. i'm not actually a big fan of him, but i can't deny that he brings in his own intensity.) besides acting, the lighting and the music are also two aspects that really put this drama together. even after learning a little about theater and film, i never thought i learned to properly pay attention to these aspects, but i couldn't ignore them in this. the tones of this drama are definitely gloomy and gray; there's nothing particularly exciting--and not like there should be, considering it is a pretty heavy crime drama. however, the lighting definitely creates an impact, especially with the harsh contrasts in the interrogation room. as for the music, i felt that every song fit so well. i'm a lover of old music myself, so that's another reason why i had to take note of it, but the music very much completes the entire piece.
if you are looking for a drama that checks off every box and/or a drama that goes one step further, cold case is the one. it is a drama that i feel every drama lover should watch, even if one is not a crime fan. more than mystery, this also contains a look into emotions and critical thinking.
I remember enjoying this one a lot yet I'm still not convinced to try season 2, I don't want to lose…
i'm in the exact same boat right now... i'm very curious about season 2 and want to see more of the characters especially osawa eriko, but season 1 was ended nicely and season 2 might just disappoint me
Pantheria's review is exactly how i feel about this movie... i was really looking forward to it bc of the cast, but ultimately, such a waste of time!!! the only decent part about this movie was when nana ended up killing suda masaki's character... i felt that the way she took out her frustration serves justice for all the times i wanted to destroy a character myself, esp suda masaki's character in this movie
this drama was unexpectedly good... i definitely only started it for kishi, but i actually ended up liking it. hard to say that i would have enjoyed this if there werent familiar faces, but everything about this drama was definitely well put together. the plot wasn't too complex, so it still remains very light with some scenes that tug at the heart. i think nojima shinji's liking for "almost implied incest" is pretty damn obvious throughout the drama, but bc the drama is so light, it's almost treated as a joke. the fact that this drama was set in another world really allowed them to make the scenes and props more eccentric, which i really enjoyed. but eccentric setting or not, i thought the aesthetics were great. some shots were iffy, but talk about a great use of color. id say definitely give this drama a shot, plus it's a breeze to go through since the episodes are rather short.
can someone spoil this for me... im quite interested in the ending but not interested enough to have to go through…
thanks so much! i was so curious bc last time i checked, the first paragraph of the current description wasnt there before. i wanted to know what was the role of naomi in all of this and now i do. thanks for telling me the ending as well (-: didnt think anyone would spoil it for me haha
can someone spoil this for me... im quite interested in the ending but not interested enough to have to go through watching such a spiteful "friendship"
i still believe mohouhan was better imo, but maybe im a bit biased... this drama overall was just very heavy and a lil slow (in comparison to the crime, mystery, suspense, etc. dramas ive watched). one thing that annoyed me though is how miwa akio's neighbors never once reported to the police about the screams they said they heard so often coming from their house and instead they chose to just gossip about it and act like the house was nonexistent...
It was light hearted, but kind of forgettable. Probably Emi-Tori pair doesn't work anymore..
i have to watch this movie again tbh.. this was actually what made me like the two, but i had watched it back when i wasnt rly watching dramas/movies often so im sure if i watch it now i may not like it as much haha. in asuko march, i didnt mind the two of them but i actually thought emi had better chemistry with other characters. i liked her with the character that was into the other girl and made music boxes

ah i see! your comment made me think "wow people were actually into them? when did i miss this?" haha ig im the only that rly likes them together for some reason. thanks for replying!
i think i had high expectations for this drama... i didnt really find it psychological or suspenseful at all. their actions were all pretty predictable and honestly i felt like the drama only picked up in episode 9 only to lead to a mediocre ending. the drama does have good points to it though, but i only stuck around for matsuda shota in all honesty. imo, the drama is something that fit its time, but if you're really expecting something suspenseful and thought-provoking, this wouldn't really be my choice
there isnt much to say since this is based on an autobiographical novel, but i think it's pretty good! it's one of those type of shows that is supposed to be inspiring and make you feel empathy for others. have to say a good job to matsuzaka tori, his acting wasnt bad here!
this drama was pretty interesting and keeps a good flow! i think my only problem was towards the end they kind of forced the romance /-: i think they built up a good dynamic between tsutsumi and chisato so for aguma and tsutsumi to suddenly fall for each other was kind of off-putting. i also thought it was weird how they focused a lot on chisato in the beginning, didnt rly bring up nabeshima's past until halfway, then they ended chisato's story and just focused on nabeshima's last minute. idk just thought it was weird, but the drama was still good. i was definitely surprised by fukushi sota's acting skills though; he did great in this drama.
i skipped through a majority of this drama tbh... i just wanted to see how it ended.. i think the drama has a lot of good points, but ig i had high expectations or smth? bc it didnt really reach the potential it has. it's true this is a more mature romcom with a bit of a psychological aspect, but i really dont think the drama runs that deep... i felt that it was difficult to empathize with the characters (possibly only kikuta) and it was even far more difficult to be even sense the emotion of love. i dont think it's always necessary to include detailed background stories for every character, but how am i supposed to empathize w/o learning about the character? i still dont understand why ojiro turned into a woman lover and did kairi really have "hallucinations" or see ghosts? was that her attraction to thanatos talking? also i dont really get how kairi and ojiro fell for each other... suddenly she was just attracted to him. was it bc of the sex? and did ojiro just fall for her just bc he wants to take care of someone? it's really hard to see. not to mention, yukichi fell for mei just bc of a simple observation and compliment... idk i think the drama had potential, but it wasnt arranged well
The first 3 eps are available hardsubbed at Nyaa. Search for the title & they're the only live action videos there--…
yea i did that and it said that track 1 is being used. is it possible maybe i downloaded it wrong? but you did say they're hardsubbed so idk what could go wrong :-o maybe it's bc i have a mac lol
