Why do you want her to be less amazing? She isn't perfect and I'm not sure why people don't see it. I think what people want is for her to make more unforced errors on things that she should be good at.
All the things that she has done so well are things that she has experience and education/training for. And she's a Buddhist. She's a defender. Compassion and kindness are expected. They're all similar things that come up again and again because people scheme and society is the way that it is.

FL really isn't perfect if you think about it. She's terrible at directly communicating important emotional things in particular. She just doesn't do it. She'll write a play and hope you get the allusions instead. She's also, stubborn and sometimes peevish. She takes things into her own hands and rarely asks for help even when she really should. And there's more. Sometimes she's rash and she tends to do for others rather than teach them how to do for themselves. She has good cause but she rarely laughs and plays ... always so interior and so careful. Nobody is perfect in this drama. And that's fine. It's even been said a few times that everything has two sides (the back of the hand and the palm) where a trait or a situation is good and bad at the same time depending on the context.
She is not the 1rst fl doing this. Many have done the same in other dramas.for example the fl in Blossom in Adversity…
Blossoms in Adversity is a lovely hidden gem type drama. A really affecting story. Wonderful FL. Great supporting characters. And you will see a number of faces that have done really well in their careers after that.

LX's tragedy put her on the right path quite a long time ago but JQ kind of got lost as he tried to set things straight after his grandfather saved the family. His efforts eventually put him in bed with the emperor; the ultimate power that tries to impose itself above and beyond the natural way.
And so our two leads ended up on different paths. Fate tore apart their shared destiny. But, now, they have made it back to one another. Their two separate paths have reunited.
The two water droplets begin on the petal in roughly the same place, a shared destiny. They traveled separately along two paths and now fate has reunited them on the right path.
Water and flower are very symbolic for this drama. And the very sensual photography is stunning. Very appropriate.
I watched ep39 at 3am the first time. So devoted I am to this drama .
It was not what I expected, I was sleep deprived and then I came here to read people's thoughts which sent me back to bed with a headache and probably had some unsettled dreams ... LOL
But I just finished my second watch and, seriously ... all is well. It was a solid episode. Not my most or my least favorite. But an excellent transition. So, I gave it a 9.5.
It flowed quite well the second time, the time skips were less noticeable and, I actually enjoyed the montage of JQ's last days in the capital, It was beautifully shot. It felt like a culmination and ... it was filled with foreboding.
Having time to think things through and learn a few things about what I saw, it all felt better.
The wedding night fell into place as the joining of two long paths back to the point where fate had interfered with the destiny of two people who belonged together so many years ago. This was a joining of lives and of minds as well as bodies. And considering that, it was perfect.
So what made the difference? What made the second viewing experience better than the first?
Not thinking about what other people were going to complain about made a huge difference. Reviewing and thinking about the Buddhist/Taoist teachings helped. Finally figuring out the leads story (separately and together) helped. In short, thinking about it really helped.
One of the things that I love about this drama is that it's about life and what it means to live well. There are so many messages in it and I feel like I'm more likely to live a better life if I really pay attention to them. So thinking it all through for today's episode was a very good thing to do.
But still, they couldn't have just smoothed more?! I'm sobing from disappointment. I do realize, especially reading…
In the not too distant future, trouble is coming to the palace yet again but this time it will have a lot to do with certain Eunuchs becoming too powerful.
I think there's an order to events that people aren't quite getting though. It's not that LX told JQ what to do and then it took him two years of more experience in court to decide to do it. He knew what to do when she showed him the play. He decided then that he must leave and they should all go home to Jinling ... but it's not something he got into overnight and it wasn't going to be something that he could just quit one day.
So, i took 2 years for him to make the break and even then, as he's leaving, he can see the writing on the wall spelling trouble in the near future . Which means that he's seeing reasons why he should stay ... because the common people suffer when the mighty clash and there needs to be peo
But he keeps walking. And he goes home to a new marriage and a safer haven.
Don't worry there's still a chance for more love story.
