I'm wondering what would have happened to our FL if she'd have stayed back in Jinling. She would be living with and 'serving' the mother in law, father in law, uncle-in-law, the two grandparents-in-law and the two youngest kids.
The kids both like her and she might be able to slip out to see her parents now and then and maybe have them over ... or ... would they have allowed that? Would they let her out to see Mr. Lu, her old neighbors and the people at the opera house?
So, she would have been taking care of the household management? Balancing the books? Overseeing the staff, servants, slaves? Or would her MIL keep doing that and she just take care of family in ways that the servants don't? Would they even let her do that? Or would they tell her to stay in her room, come out as necessary and not bother them..
I can't imagine them torturing her the way we see in-laws do in other dramas but they would certainly be cold and dismissive. Maybe the servants she didn't know would have been less than friendly as well.
Grandfather was quick to put poison in his granddaughters hands when he thought she was shaming the family and bruising their reputation. So, do we think he would find a way to get rid of his grand-daughter in law as well since her existence also damages the family?
Somehow, I don't think so ... because of the decree. But people do have accidents don't they?
Anyway, I'm wondering what people think would have happened ... the FL seemed to think it was expected and the lesser of two evils but I think it might have been pretty horrible with all the people who like, want to like or are willing to tolerate her off living far away in the capital.
grovel, wail, kowtow, on his knees apology...and repeat.
Nah ... I think he needs to do acts of service that she really wants. Like helping Ji'er. In other words, he needs to prove that he's a good person instead of a groveling one.
Back on the theatrical through line -- three Crown Princes.Lin Jin Qi is on good terms with probably all three.1,…
Good to review this but I'm a bit confused.
The usurping noble Emperor just died didn't her? The chubby crown prince who was his son is now the new Emperor. Dude in the play was a ventriloquist fake. Former stage hand with a chopped to disguise a long finger was the rightful but forced out child CP who Lin JinQi should have killed but instead he put him on a boat to run away cuz he really didn't do anything wrong. Only if he comes back LJQ will be deemed treasonous for letting him go. So, let's hope he doesn't come back unless he is successful in staging a coup (which would make LJQ a very lucky hero instead of a traitor).
I think you're right about the water route talk although it kinda worked for the skinnyt runaway usurped CP and for the successful chubby one too.
LJQ saved the skinny one so casually but omg he could get himself and everyone else killed for doing it if anyone ever finds out.
If that's your only question, you will probably need a different drama :-)
hmmm. enemies are looming, big events will happen. there will be a war and deaths or injuries ... all of which will affect kissing decisions ... doesn't sound like slowing down
Jinqi was absolutely disgusting and abhorrent in ep 29, and the second Lanxiang exposed him in ep 30, he immediately…
I don't think that JinQi was trying to blame Scholar Han. He's not able to understand Lanxiang's thinking and her feelings or some of her behaviour and he's worried that he'll never win her over. So he keeps defaulting to the idea that she thinks more highly and is in love with Scholar Han who he, himself, believes is a better (as in more good) person than he is.
LanXiang has a lot going on internally at the moment; floods of emotion and confusion that we understand but nobody else does. So JinQui is floundering around trying to cope and keep the faith that all will be well in the end.
So, it's a tiny bit funny to me that you are more sympathetic to Grandfather Lin than you are to Young Master LIn. Because they're very similar to one another and they're both toxic in some ways and they're both good people in some ways too, They're both smart and practical. They both care about family and they both put its survival first but JinQui clearly sees the needs of individual members better than his grandfather does which is probably a function of age, stage, experience and closeness.
There are tradeoffs in life between the individual and the whole, between safety through power and safety through staying out of it. Grandpa only knows about getting close to the tiger because he rushed into it too when he was a young man and so he knows first hand how it works.
I think, therefore, that grandfather was right to remind JinQui about the dangers of getting close to tigers but I think he is a bit angry at losing control of the family to his grandson. What should have been a firm, wise and warm warning turned into a bit of an almost accusation. The young master will be the cause of family ruin? Maybe that could happen as it very nearly did when grandpa was at the helm. He too nearly brought the family down.
Anyway, I totally agree with you about the Lin family being a breath of fresh air in cdrama land. They are grey. But the family are commendable for not preying on eachother or eating their young as we often get to see. They do care fir eachother and they stick together for everyone's benefit.
Honestly it happens in modern chinese families these days. Whoever becomes the most successful on career is the…
I imagine that it still happens everywhere and will keep happening. I was just struck at the special circumstances in this case. A very important, very big family of repute that nearly died out, was saved and is now revived with a completely new direction and some new blood too. Quite an accomplishment on our MLs part and hardly anyone has really noticed the magnitude of what he's done.
The ep 28 family scene with grandfather is intriguing me.
One by one they all enter to ask him for permission to leave and he reluctantly acquiesces each time. But then it becomes crystal clear that the Young Master has deliberately orchestrated the entire scene and a torch is being passed.
It's been happening for some time now. The oldest Grandson came home from the wars to reimagine his life and to redirect his family. He took all of the emergency measures that had saved the family from annihilation and, piece by piece, he undid them. .
The disastrous first marriage and the unholy alliance that it cemented were swept away. The books were reviewed and properly reconciled. Misdemeanors were settled out of court. Crimes and conspiracies were investigated. Attempts at a backlash were averted. And new alliances were formed .
And at the end, the Young Master had, basically, switched sides. He took the family out of one faction, joined the other and earned a lot of merits along the way. With less and less help from his grandfather as time went on.
Eventually, the younger man, arranged his own marriage in a way that provoked his grandfather's wrath and brought out the rod ... for the last time.
But nothing could be done about it. The Young Master has effectively remade and taken over the family. And the episode 28 scene-before-leaving makes it obvious. Grandfather sat there looking at his grandson realizing that the family was moving on with someone new at the helm.
So, I guess it happens in most families, especially dynastic ones. The old guard steps aside or is moved aside and the next generation moves on. But, in this case, I think our ML did it brilliantly with the true piece de resistance being his marriage; his reward for all that hard work.
Anyway, the Young Master is now a newly, soon to be happily (we hope) married man but he is also now the actual head of the Lin family. And it's a very different family.
She will. As if Jinqi would leave his furen. 😂Question is how henwill convince her. So far he's failed. 😅
The part of the family and all of the maids she knows and likes ... (who also know/like her ) are all going which would leave her behind with all and only the people of ill will. So, staying back would be torture. I don't know if that's how she'll be convinced ... but there's powerful incentive in there.
The kids both like her and she might be able to slip out to see her parents now and then and maybe have them over ... or ... would they have allowed that? Would they let her out to see Mr. Lu, her old neighbors and the people at the opera house?

ok. i'm done now. it's raining here. I'm sleep deprived and my work is currently numbing my brain ... but still ... no more kissing questions
do let us know what you decide though :-)
Or he might have become a workaholic until she got killed by her official husband because he falls in love with Zhao Xing Ting
I might be getting my dramas a little bit confused ...
doesn't sound like slowing down
So this is my speculation instead of my knowledge (outside of trailers and teasers) ...
I do not think it will slow down but it is clear that at least a few kissing decisions will occur in the upcoming episodes ... :-)
Wondering what you will ask next and what your eventual decision will be ...
So far ... no.
