Started season 2 but hasn't been impressed at all. Still the same crappy story as in season 1. I feel like being dragged through the coals watching this and will very likely drop it. Currently trying one episode/week because there's absolutely no way to tolerate more than that as it goes.
So, it looks like I should not bother with this after finishing season 1? Such a bummer, I'm at Episode 21 of…
Yeah. It's a let down, mostly when it's said both seasons were filmed together. However, they both seemed written and directed by different people. I was also disappointed by its ending.
Season 1 was much better. This second season seemed to have been written by a different person than season 1. The ending was weird to say the least. Therefore, the great story and production in season 1 became just an average drama in season 2. It could have been a lot better.
Was it him who composed the themes for Bloody Romance, Eternal Love , and Ashes of Love? Those are masterpieces and I even tried to find the CDs to get a better quality than the MP3s we find online but could not find them. There are several other OST that are work of geniuses, not only in the Chinese but also South Korean movie industry.
Surprisingly good series. Lighthearted, humorous and easy to bingewatch. The overall chemistry between actors, screenplay and director is great. For me, easy an 8.5/10.
I like ZLY and decided to watch because of her. However, it was a very disapointing experience. Whoever wrote this story used some halucination drugs, on overdose levels. The story, or stories (some episodes seemed independent of others) barely made any sense. Sometimes it seemed that ZLY was just a virtual character thar a psycho used for avatar in some very weird VR environment, supposed to work as a treatment for psychos. Glad the series is short because I wouldn't be able to watch more than 8 episodes, and even fast forwarded some. Watch at your own risk.
This is a male centric drama, so expect few to mid chances of GJ to appear in every episodes.
It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality. She can have little screen time, but as long as it lets her show her full potential, it's all good.
Nice production, gorgeous special effects and CGI, but it ends there. I skipped a good portion of the mid episodes because they were too boring amidst an immature story. The direction left a lot to be desired also, which made the acting just passable. For example, I could barely recognize LSS from her riles in Kill My Sins and Journey to Love. However, the biggest joke is this series getting a much higher rate than Red Moon. That, worth a big laugh. Anyway, I just hope that the third Fox Spirit Matchmaker does much better. Love in Pavilion is a 7.5/10 max.
Wasted concept on a story that got bordeline incest and a lame ending. The "brother" sometimes crossed to pervert and the "sister", despite having lost her memory and firmily believing the "brother" was really a brother, had some borderline behavior also. The writer would had done better if not rushing that relationship, mostly right after the ML had dumped the FL in a very rough way. Neverthless, putting that aside, the story also missed the mark multiple times with the princes' fight for the throne and other characters going beyong the stereotypical evil or good. The little "coup" was also pathetic. Waste of good actors.
This is an entertaining drama and bingewatchable, even though some scenes are a bit tacky and go overboard on the cliche. The idea and story could have been better developed. Neverthless, it's enjoyable. Is there a second season on the way? The ending gave a strong hint of the story continuing.
Great production with gorgeous photography and visual effects. However, the story could have been shorter. It was too long, too many plot twists and misunderstandings that added too much time, and sometimes boring scenes. Otherwise a great drama and I would have given it higher marks.
Just finished. The series is very underrated here. Should have a much better ranking. CG does a great job, as well as several other actors. The production was meticulous and did a great job overall.
Very good drama that provides a Chinese region's struggles to survive changes snapshot. It reminded a bit of Northward, which did a better job. However, this series also depicted the families' challenges juggling growing kids with financial problems and how to deal with them. Also did a good job showing how half-backed policies deployed by incompetent officials can be disasteous. Here's where the series fell short, probably because of the Chinese government's censorship, that made disasters be "miraculously" solved, thus, everyone happy. Nonetheless, the acting and direction were very good in general, which made the series bingeworthy. I highly recommend watching for anyone interested in watching some great depictions of China's economic development.
