No season 4. Only 3 seasons. It was announced at the launch of the second season.
The mention of seasons three and four is at the article's very beginning. My understanding that there were only three also came from the producers' statements when working on the second season. However, what worries me most is seeing the very short list of actors who confirmed reappearing. If true, it's very bad news.
I don't blame the director only. He also did The Double, which is excellent. I'm actually surprised that he could…
The Double's ML is miles ahead of any of the Rebirth's leads. Furthermore, go back to the beginning of this thread and see why The Double came up. Generation to Generation was another series that I paused because it was getting too boring - I needed a break.
Season 3 and 4? I remember the production saying it was 2 and 3 and they were going to be filmed together. Therefore, using the old saying "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.", forgive me if I have to see to believe. . Also, seeing so few original actors in the list isn't very encouraging. However, I'll keep my optimism that the production will not replace the ones missing in the list by idol actors and kill this great series. And please keep the season 1's pace and mood. Season 2 felt like a different series. . Cheers to this series' season 3 and 4 coming as soon as possible!
The story is a blend of invisible man with a few others and isn't bad. However, the execution... Terrible acting, direction and special effects, if we can call it that. It reminds of those B productions, some so bad that they end up popular classics.
The plot had so much potential. I was waiting for to it branch out and develop after Ep 10 with all the intrigues,…
This drama did its job really well. It's not a Nirvana in Fire, which is mostly about politics and powerplay. This one emphasizes romance and the powerplay takes a second stage. I rated it a 9.5/10 because of that.
I wasn't able to finish the first episode, the girl had no charisma, and the mountain made of corpses was ridiculous.
It appears that the director tried to copy a Game of Thrones (GoT) scene where two armies battled and the dead piled up (literally). However, for anyone who watched GoT that pile in Rebirth's first scene looked like a parody. Something that Monty Python would do in one of their comedies. The problem isn't just the FL. The two MLs have a similar issue. They all still need several years practicing and learning in order to act decently. Right now, they should remain as support actors. After doing a great drama like The Double, the director shot himself in the foot when filming Rebirth.
Wu Jin Yan is an excellent actress. I can hardly wait to watch her again. I do not recall Miles Wei, so will need to rewatch a few The Double episodes to remember him. Lost You Forever, Perfect Match and The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty were good, so hopefully the director will not screw up this one.
For me, things like "earrings" or "who said what" is irrelevant and seems to only seek attention. What's important is how good the dramas or movies are, how good the direction and acting is, soundtrack, etc. Everything else is just noise. Having said that, this instalment of Princess Agents' second season is a disaster, a train wreck. . The production tried to piggyback on Princess Agents' success and that series' audiences expectations and delivered something that left a lot to be desired. From using idol actors instead of real actors, to scenes that felt like parodies (e.g. that pile of corpses in the initial scene). . I watched several episodes of Princess Agents again as a way to refresh the story and it made the gap even worse. The FL is far from ready to play a role like Zhao Li Ying does and the same goes for the two MLs trying to play their season 1 counterparts. . For some reason, those idol actors cannot (or will not) display facial expressions - maybe they have to keep the faces their fanbase like? Watching Princess Agents' actors and Rebirth's idol actors makes this handicap even more glaring. . Granted, usually second and later seasons have to do a great job to even match first seasons. Just look at Joy of Life and Nirvana in Fire as examples. However, Rebirth really abused the fans' expectations. . I stopped watching on episode three and will wait for the series to end and then decide whether to give it another chance. However, as it is now, my expectations are very low.
Very fun watch. As other posters mentioned, this series is light and easy to watch and does a great job despite the clear low budget. The acting is all over the place, but the main leads do a great job playing their characters. The "invention" of the Mahjong game is a very funny scene.
Started this one because of ZLS. However, contrary to all my expectations, is was extremely boring and the only way to move forward was by fast forwarding and skipping entire episodes. Definitely not my style, even though I enjoy ZLS' work.
