Despite most of the story happened in their senior high school, this is nothing like any of these youth dramas that I have watched. It is so well produced in every way you should give it a try.

Perhaps you have watched too many dramas so nothing is new and fresh anymore? Just take a break from watching dramas and enjoy other things in life. I personally do that once a while just to get out of a drama slump.
How much do Chinese doramas differ from Korean and Japanese ones? I have only watched Chinese films.
Instead of asking other people, I think you should give C drama a try and form your own opinions. Personally, I used to watch K drama exclusively but I am taking a break and have been only watching C dramas for a couple of years. To me K and C are equal in quality and acting but C dramas are much longer and the stories are more complex and deeper.
