I love every second of this fantastic series and have already begun to rewatch it from the beginning. Like many other members of the LGBTQ+ community worldwide, together with our straight friends and supporters, I cannot understand why the mainland Chinese government is so hostile towards having BL series filmed domestically. Millions of their own citizens absolutely love them, often to the point of obsession. Setting them in real Chinese locations would show huge numbers of prospective tourists from elsewhere just what an incredible place China is to vacation - I know this because I’ve done it myself.
Mek lights up the screen whenever he appears. Rati’s character, on the other hand, is poorly written much of the time IMHO. He’s often given nothing to say in reply when someone speaks to him. All he’s apparently directed to do is stare blankly at nothing in particular, as if he’s just OD’d on the tranquilizers a tourist from the future must have left behind in the glove compartment of the 1950’s Austin being driven around town more than a third of a century too early by Thee.
My idea of a perfect finish would be that Charlie doesn’t make it out of his coma and Babe and Willie, who were secretly having a raging affair for the whole time he was unconscious, finally tell everybody and become one of the absolute hottest couples in the whole of BL-land. Oh yeah……and Willie calls BABE “Papa”!!!
Aou has been one of my top biases since I first saw him in Enchanté and Vice Versa. He has a standout role in this absorbing series and IMHO he steals every scene he’s in. Now that he’s also in Jasp.er, he’s well on the way to gaining the wide recognition his talent deserves.
Super-hot Lee Long Shi does it again: yet another lead role in a series with zero production values, dreadful acting and cliché-packed script. Nine episodes of unintentional laughs ahead and I, for one, am hoping it doesn’t improve even slightly. 7.5/10.
Much as I am really enjoying this series, I’m assuming that vehicles from 1915 must be in seriously short supply in Thailand today. The Austin A40 being driven around by Great/Thee didn’t come onto the market until 32 years later, in 1947!
I’ve never seen a better kissing scene in any BL than Boat and Oat sucking each other’s faces on that office stairwell. If there was an actual fire in the building and everyone had to evacuate, I’m sure Sorn and Jun would still make time for a quickie, hoping that the smoke would be too thick for their stampeding colleagues to notice what they were doing.
In my inescapable real-life role as a horny gay man, I can say with absolute certainty that if someone as hot as Hayakawa Shuichiro gave me an unexpected kiss and then invited me to have sex with him, he’d be flung instantly onto my bed and I’d be turned on faster than my electric blanket in midwinter.
Eight episodes along and how sweet it is to know we’re only a third of the way through. The opening scene where Suo Wei finally realizes that Cheng is in the middle of a JO while talking to him on the other end of the line is a classic. To follow that with Yue Yue using a disinterested Cheng’s credit card to buy everything in the jewelry store is just as LOL. This show is flawlessly written and directed, and Xu Ning and Yu are as good a comedic double-act as I’ve ever seen in my entire life.
After watching P and Pan performing their NC in episode 7, my fudanshi gaydar has me more convinced than ever that they’re partners offscreen as well as in the series. Much of their conversation appears to be unscripted and their occasional giggling and complete lack of self-consciousness indicates, to me at least, that they wouldn’t have needed anything remotely like a workshop before filming such a highly erotic and intimate scene. Final proof of their familiarity with the whole deal was of course Pan fixing his lipstick while P was still attacking from the rear. There’s no doubt in my mind - these two beautiful men are genuinely into each other, and who could blame them for that?
The low rating for this undemanding, relaxing and enjoyable series is a mystery to me, it’s one of my top favorites of the year. Five hot Thai guys partying and sightseeing in a beautiful area of Japan, it’s a treat to watch it. Pan is my bias, but I love them all. I hope there will be a season 3.
I’m not over-hopeful that’ll happen. GMMTV is probably spending all its time trying to figure out how to realistically inject their usual endless product placements into a series set over a century ago.
I notice that the first name of one of the scriptwriters of this so-far entertaining series is Pornpitcha. If she manages to pitch a little of that into the storyline I’ll definitely stick around until the end.
Oat is one of the cutest leads I’ve seen in any BL ever, and he’s not just there to decorate the screen. The quality of his acting, particularly in episode 9, is right off the charts.
This show is currently at #1 in two categories on GagaOOlala: Australia Top Ten In Gay and Australia Top 10 In BL/Yaoi. This demonstrates how much us Aussies relate to series involving travel and getting laid as often as possible. 10/10 from me and 11/10 for Pan’s abs.
I’ve just cleared the steam off my glasses following the smokin’-hot sex scene in episode 3. As it’s on GagaOOLala, I was hoping that for once NC might be going to stand for Nice C**k, but maybe they’re saving that for episode 4.
