Had potential

I'm writing this review a bit late, but it's been years since I first watched this drama, and I recently found myself thinking about it again. This was actually my very first experience with a "slap and kiss" drama, and I didn’t know what to expect going in. Perhaps part of the reason I didn’t enjoy it as much was because I was completely shocked by the turn of events.
At the beginning, I was genuinely hooked. The plot seemed fun and lighthearted, exactly what I had been told to expect from the U-Prince franchise. The first half of the story was cute, fluffy, and entertaining — the kind of drama I had come to love. But then, about halfway through, things took a drastic turn as the drama shifted into slap-and-kiss territory. Now, don't get me wrong; I've grown to love slap-and-kiss dramas over time. But at the time, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and I think that might have been part of the issue (also I was 12). If I had known this was a major element in the story, I probably would have been more prepared to accept it.
I’ve also heard from other fans of slap-and-kiss dramas that they didn’t enjoy this one as much either, particularly because the male lead cheats on the female lead. While I understand where they’re coming from, I still think there's a lot of potential in the premise.
One thing that stood out, though, was the acting. This was my first time seeing Push and Esther on screen, and I’ve been a fan of both ever since. Their performances were nothing short of stellar, and their chemistry was off the charts. They brought the characters to life in a way that made me feel invested in the story, especially in the early episodes.
In theory, this could have easily been an 8/10 drama if a few things had been handled differently. But as much as I enjoyed the first half, I honestly don’t think I’d ever rewatch it. If I did, I’d probably only stick to the first half and then stop once the drama starts to dip, which, in my opinion, doesn’t really count as a rewatch.
All things considered, this drama has a lot of potential, but the second half really let it down. It’s unfortunate because the first half had me hooked, but the drastic shift in tone left me feeling frustrated and ultimately soured my opinion of the entire series. While it isn’t the worst thing I’ve watched, I’d say this drama is definitely flawed, and I can’t help but feel like it was a missed opportunity.
