I also liked the SL in "it's beautiful now", the youngest couple had a love triangle, and the sl was way better than the mml. I mean OBJECTIVELY. the FL would have been wayyy happier with the sl. but love is what it is... and in these dramas, the sl did nothing trashy to have his way. they were just beautiful men with no luck in love.
on the question: will the mother give the money back? I'd say: she won't. the only link remained between her and the fl is the money. even if she didn't need it, she kept accepting it. it's not about the money, or about justice or anything "fair". the money is the only shared "blood" between her and her daughter.
