I lost interest in King the Land after the second episode. If an employee had done what that girl did, she would…
I agree with you. but.... the MML had personal issues and principles that dictated his behavior.
he didn't fire her because he didn't feel like it was in his power: at this moment of the story he didn't want to meddle with his sister's prerogatives.
his principle was to be respectful with all employee. later in the story he went to an other hotel linked to king the land. one staff member mistook him for a seasonal employee and ordered him around without respect. he worked as he was asked, and when the truth came out, and the employee was afraid to be fired, he answered "it's ok, but never speak to any employee like you did with me again. seasonal or not, you must show respect."
this part of the MML personality is one of these unique things I love in KTL. he is very unique. you can call it not realistic, but for me it is very consistent with the character's personality. everyone has his own specificity. it is also very realistic to tell the story of these few people who do not act like everyone would have in their place. KTL's MML is not the usual chaebol. and that's what I love the most in this show.
sorry for the long answer, but I am always happy to share about my favorites shows.... :-) I gave you a heart for your very relevant remark.
appreciate the comment but hard disagree. I cannot sit through 16 hrs of content w/o anything interesting or compelling…
I understand your feelings. this being said, a lot of things in art have nothing to do with a logical or even an interesting story. a good drama with an atmosphere worth the watch if it makes you dive into an other world. for the time of the drama you forget your life, your world, and enter in another space. king the land does that, very well. and this universe is very unique. you can like it, or hate it, but the deal is to make you travel inside...
king the land is one of my favorites love dramas now. there is so much unique things about this drama. but it's true that the story is very shallow. there is no depth in the characters and in the details of the story. but it's consistent, because it's a love story, not a social, philosophical or criminal inquiry.
I found it rushed in the end, am I the only one? I think there was enough for at least 2 more episodes. beside this, it was very entertaining till the end. needed something like this lately, I am very grateful it was made.
I watched a few seconds of episode 10 before going to bed because it was so late but I couldn't wait to see the kiss. I stopped when he stopped the kiss so I didn't know....
THEY KISSED! OMG! they kissed! I am so happy he lived his life at least once at 18! this poor boy, really holding an entire family on his little shoulders! this wholesome boy! so happy for him!
it's like "back to the future" but way better. it's rare watching a remake and finding it entertaining and better than the first idea. this being said, I don't know if I'd have preferred having a real time machine. this "music shop" thing is a little annoying, but the shop owner is funny too.
after watching king the land, I wanted to "secure" a podium place for the "best first kiss contest". definitely, KTL wins the first place. why? because the way the mml approached the mfl was out of this world. he made a perfect score. but reading my review afterwards confirmed that I had more fun watching ABP. this being said, ktl is absolutely worth watching just to witness how a real man is supposed to court his lady. imo. see for yourself.
1- we don't get to know the details about the story of the mother of gu won. the grandfather pressured her to abandon the family and the father didn't protect her. ok, but what was said and done, when did she decide to give in, and also, I was sure the half-sister played a role in this rejection, but no. after watching all of it, I still have a feeling of something odd or missing.
2- the official fiance disappeared without the final blow. it was somehow very bizarre.
3- the personal secretary (mr no) didn't find love, alas....
4- the situation with the half-sister stayed unclear. in the main plot, she was despicable but not yet the villain you would suppose or expect. at the end she gave up about the hotel, without really accepting the family she actually has. it feels unfinished.
the whole thing makes you feel like the main story is happening in a fairy mist where everything is washed out.
as I said before, I really think the character of gu won is very mature despite the lack of experience. he stopped the perfectly organized proposal because sarang was struggling with professional project. so thoughtful! even I would have probably not go this far! really impressed.
but....

you know I just came across the idea that it was needed for him to become the perfect husband for his wife. don't you think so?

so disrespectful and yet funny....!
