This is a big NO for me. I am not going to waste the precious hours of my life watching this utterly absurd tragedy…
Yep. Me too. Much as I love Cheng Yi, I am not going to watch Promise of Chang'an. Madam Dongfang as FL and on top of that, a self-centered one plus selfish emperors and a tragedy? No thank you. I don't want to ruin the good feels of Love and Redemption.
Its actually the subbed episodes that are like that. The raw episodes are fine.
If you are watching on YouTube it's because of copyright issues. YouTube is very particular about music copyright and if a certain background music is copyrighted material, they seem to mute it out. At least that's the explanation I was given by several people. It doesn't seem to happen on other sites.

I totally agree. I prefer Sifeng and Xuan Ji over every couple including those in TMOPB and AOL with the exception of WWX and LZ in The Untamed. The way they looked at each other and can't seem to stop touching each other when together seems so beautiful and subtle. I feel the potrayal of their love really suited their personalities too.
I prefer Love and Redemption. Loved it! One of my favorite Asian dramas of all time!
Yes. Totally agree. Xuan Ji seemed to get another amnesia briefly towards the end when it seemed she forgot everything Sifung had done to prove his love and devotion for her. It was annoying. I did feel she redeemed herself from episode 50 onwards with her complete love and total determination to stand by Sifeng no matter what. Also, what I really liked about L&R is how they didn't do the break-up and make-up too many times.
Among all the dramas I've watched sifeng, lan wangji and wei wuxian are the best characters I've ever seen (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)
Absolutely agree. Wei Wuxian is just my all time favorite. He is playful, powerful, intelligent, complex, loyal, loves deeply and all the while looks ever so handsome doing just about anything. Lan Wangji and Sifeng are most certainly the most ideal and perfect men as a lovers. They love so deeply, perfectly, unconditionally and with such faith in their love interests that it would melt any heart. Both are also so fine looking and powerful. They set an impossibly high bar for most MLs.
a 1, really?... what's the haters... my minimum for the drama that even I don't like is 3,5 - 4...
Really? Man! Why would anyone do that??? I mean I would give a 1 if I felt there was something seriously wrong with the drama that made me really angry such as abuse or some very morally questionable things. I just don't understand. Even then, it would be hard to do that and insult the creative efforts of an entire group of people.

Ashes of Love is good but the FL in it annoyed me quite a bit. Maybe it's just me because after all Yang Zi is super popular. I also felt the misunderstanding in it dragged so long and was the usual evil woman infatuated with the ML kind of storyline done to death in so many dramas. That was what turned me off of TMOPB too. I mean there's also a super infatuated SML in AOL resorting to various machinations. So if you don't mind those types of stereotypes and even enjoy it, then AOL is definitely a good watch. Deng Lun is very good in it especially in the second half of the drama. So glad you love Love and Redemption. It's hard moving on from it!
I feel the same way. I've watched so many dramas in my life (over 20 years, thanks to my parents hahaha). I don't…
Yes indeed. For me too L&R is was better than TMOPB and AOL. It seems that L&R has now set a very high bar for the perfect ML and for the kind of complete love that overcomes all kinds of insurmountable seeming obstacles between the ML and the FL. It is proving very difficult to get over this great drama!
Please, please, please, STOP TALKING ABOUT THE THINGPlease? I've said it so many times!求你们了...
Totally agree. Haters will hate. First Xiao Zhan. Now Cheng Yi. Let's focus on the show and how great of a show it is. One of the best dramas out there and an epic romance!
GUYS REALLY ITS BEEN A WEEK, AND I STILL CANT MOVE ON. I tried to watch other dramas but end up dropping it, bc…
Same here :) I've watched so many dramas that I haven't been able to list even a fraction of all the ones I've watched here on my MDL Watched list. But there are very few dramas that I have a hard time getting over like this one. The Untamed is the other one I keep going back to. L&R is an epic romance with one of the most satisfying endings.
Yes, it's an amazing love story, and the acting is top-notch! TMOPB was great, but is not even close to how awesome…
Both kinds of MLs can be compelling in dramas and movies if done well. However, in real life there can be no comparison. I want a man who respects my choices and knows that no means no. And I think Sifeng's love was tremendously powerful. I feel he, like Xuan Ji said, never gave up on her. He takes a step back but never stops loving her and it is that strength that ultimately wins her over irrevocably. One thing I hate in a relationship is feeling "managed." Different from being cherished which is great but managed in terms of thinking the ML knows best and keeps making decisions for the couple. Unlike L&R, I didn't feel that YH needed to keep so many secrets from Bai Qian in TMOPB.

Totally agree. I am sure it's a matter of choice and to each his/her own, but I prefer L&R to TMOPB by miles. No comparison! Not just for the main leads but also for the many peripheral characters who are very interesting and the epic, nuanced story.

Well I thought how he acted fitted SF's character. YH was born the crown prince of heaven and although he had problems growing up, he is still imperious and every woman who lays eyes on him seems to fall for him (mildly annoying). Hence, it makes sense he is the more aggressive, confident type of lover. SF on the other hand seems to have had a lot more issues growing up and has a different disposition, so his reticence and gentleness as a lover seems understandable. Plus he came from a sect with a lot of rules which he questioned and struggled against. So it seems he would therefore feel the need to respect someone's choice a lot more just as he himself wanted to have the freedom to fall in love with whomever he wished.
So glad you love Love and Redemption. It's hard moving on from it!
