Title Love in the Big City Spoiler
I think I said it before too that this kinda show can be imprinted in your memory for days, or maybe months or…
Some people are p*ssed off about the ending. I'm also not a fan of open ending but it serves right here for it could be a happy ending for some people and for others especially the ones who kinda hate his personality so much might think he doesn't deserve a happy one. For me though, there could be so much possibilities. The very first one is Go Young and Gyu Ho meet and live together again, maybe a happy ending? Second one is: they meet again but decided not to see each other. Third one, they meet, date again and all but same old thing happened and break up, again. Another scenario is they decide to never meet again. But happiest ending in my version is they meet only after many years have passed when they're both more matured, accomplished and end up together. Personally though, I don't see any version as sad. Even if they don't get to meet again, they'll probably have chance to meet and date others. And that's what life is. Gyu Ho for sure will be able to meet a better guy with his caring and loving traits towards his partner and his charming looks.

I think for Go Young to have a happier relationship, he need to overcome his psyche of the disease first. For sure, Kylie is his another karma. It's kinda comical because when Mi Ae got pregnant, he said "without condom?!" although that's how exactly he got Kylie. I'm about sure they  made the script intentionally like that, as in educational purpose, specifically towards young people who may do the same mistake in a fleeting moment. HIV is not a death threat but it can surely affect our lives and status. If having protection prevents you from pleasure, both partner need their blood check up every few months.

Although I think it has vibes of some Western queer series like Queer as Folk or Looking, maybe because of the cinematography or maybe because Asian always like to turn into forlorn state, the show overshadows artistic reminiscence. So I guess some people might see it as tragic or dramatic but actually it's not, at least in my opinion. Anyway, it's such a captivating show with full of great cast. Most of the actors look new in the industry but they all did excellent. Them taking the risky roles alone needs much appreciations because as far as I know it's the first high budgeted gay series from Korea. Sorry about the long read!

Title Love in the Big City Spoiler
I think I said it before too that this kinda show can be imprinted in your memory for days, or maybe months or even years. I watched like 4 days ago and normally I move on to another drama already but a few things still keep afloat in my mind even when I'm watching other things. I like how it addresses some social issues, such as how people shun girls by the way they dress and wear bright lipsticks. Isn't it ironic because people are praising over how idols and celebrities look nice and stylish with leather, tight, short skirts and leopard jackets but then when an ordinary person have a wardrobe collection of that, they can't stand it. Anyway, I think Mi Ae has got somewhat a happy ending herself which is nice.

Go Young isn't at all a loveable character, especially with what happened to Nam Gyu. He was spoiled by Nam Gyu and was so harsh on him. But in the back of my mind I kinda understand him. He wasn't at all wrong by breaking up with him, I just think it should have happened earlier because he wasn't ready to be in a serious relationship and thus he wouldn't have been as much clinged to and maybe the death could've been avoided? Idk. Although he felt guilt over Nam Gyu's death, as so should anyone in his place, it wasn't entirely his fault since our actions are done by ourselves. If Go Young was driving the car and crashed, only then he could be blamed fully. But karma works no matter how small it is. I think what happened to him in later of his other relationships are partially because of his karma. I don't actually hate or love his character because the portrayal of him is just so human. I think the Nam Yoon Su, the actor who played as him is so talented. I haven't seen his other works but I admire him by this series alone.

Compare to what happens to Nam Gyu, death of Go Young's mother is least likely to be tragic. I'm sure Go Young loves his mom but you could perceive he got somewhat relieved when she passed away. Some might see him as a selfish son but let me say: when you get to witness your family or closed person's long process of dying as in chronic illness, you'll probably feel the same. It had happened to me and that's how I know. It's true though that he might have some resentment about how he got sent to a conversion center by her but I mean we all hate and love our parents.

Go Young's love for Gyu Ho may not be obvious but it's not entirely invisible. He was concerned about Kylie and he may feel like he doesn't deserve to be loved because of that. They were living like an old married couple because they can't enjoy s*x. Gyu Ho has problem with getting hard issues with protection and Go Young can't fulfill the desire of his boyfriend because of Kylie. Even in earlier episode when they first met, he stated he was afraid of that since they kissed with his mouth bleeding. So imagine, how much he must be frustrated when they became lovers. I think that's why he intentionally try to distant and unfazed towards their relationship. He's somewhat guilty that Gyu Ho is stuck with him, that's why he kept insisting his boyfriend to meet other people before they part ways. And there's this one scene when Gyu Ho left the place and came back with his suitcase, Go Young set all his alarm off. My guess is he didn't want to disrupt Gyu Ho sleeping but I'm not so sure.

I'm sorry about that but I think it's good that you learn about them sooner. Ghosting is the best thing we can do in this kinda situation. I was actually moping for a while at that time but now I think about it and it feels like ages. And I'm somewhat thankful to have met someone like her. Because of her, my bff and I learned more about people with NPD. Well that's how you learn things in life afterall, through personal experience

How do you know a series is good? You watch it and you end up thinking about it a lot, especially when you watch it the night before then you wake up next day thinking about it. Sometimes, I watch BLs before sleep then I even forget that I watch them the next day. I'm not trying to badmouth BLs. I love BLs, I even skip social affairs to watch BLs. That's how devoted I am. But this kind of series is more than a BL can offer. BL fans are like "give us proper gay series pleaseee" blah blah blah then they sulk like elementary kids when they get proper and good series. It's a life of gay dude and his perspectives of friendship, romance and life. Gay life is not all rainbow and butterflies. Anyway massive respect to all the actors for each their roles. They're all so great.

If china produced bl,no other country would stand a chance. They would dominate.Their bls hits different. It's a…
Yeah, I also once told in a comment that same thing. They were actually leading in BLs, they were predecessor along with Japan. Thailand didn't have much at that time, it was China and Japan that brought me into the world of BLs. But then their stupid government started ruining everything. Urgh, I hate them. There were a time I even hated the word "bromance" because of them.

I'm thankful that we don't have to wait for episode by episode. I wish all series are like that, BLs at least. If only they could release Chinese BLs like that, even if they get banned we get full episodes.

Title Summer Strike Spoiler
I'm a fan of slow-burns and I thought this was one. Literally, sometimes I just don't want anything to happen in drama, no angst and no tense. But as the series progress, I feel like it's not. Also some unnecessary and annoying characters here and there, like the woman who's seemingly crushing ml, the father or the grandma, I feel like there are many except the 4 main leads. You can make a great slow-burns without any of those characters, take an example of My Liberation Notes. It was such a comfort show for me and it was such a good slice of life without no hateful characters, everyone was likable and understandable. I was rooting a lot for this drama because the Korean name for this literally translated as 'Don't want to do anything' which is such a perfect name and also literally my mood. Such a waste tho, ugh!

On The Witch: Part 2. The Other One Oct 16, 2024
Contrary to popular opinion, I kinda like this more than the first one. I've watched part 1 twice and somehow I can't even remember, except for Choi Woo Shik's parts lol. I like the Chief woman and her underling most here. It doesn't focus on just one main character unlike in the first 1. Yeah, I also would like they give us more in depth knowledge about those characters but it's already 2 hours long and it's not series so they just leave it that way I guess. I hope many things get explained in part 3 but I think it'll focus more on the mother I guess because they said she's also not ordinary person in the first place.

*just wanted to add them on the list.
Still, I just hope Asian courageously make REAL gay themed movies and series more—real like CMBYN, Love, Simon etc—not the subtle ones. The subtle ones can also be good and I don't mean we want to see the bed scenes always (though I personally do, feel guilty 😅), but there's not even a proper kiss scene in most. And almost all of them are gloomy as heck, it's like gay = unhappy. The trope of Asian gay films is like someone died or everyone dies 😓. South East Asia is more open in that expect, Thailand and Philippines for instance. I'm not only talking about BL. BL are fun and all but it's a bit limited genre to exclusive audience. Some fans still don't even want to openly admit that they like BLs. However, it's different with movies. For an example, a lot of people watch Brokeback Mountain and no one says it's wrong to enjoy it. My point is those feature films can bring more awareness since all types of people may watch.

The part that other countries shouldn't make bromance true especially because they have bl, just do bls and don't disguise them as bromance. For China though, the closest thing we can get to bl is bromance. So, keep making them!
