Makes sense. King The Land was cute and gave us that CEO-Worker romance vibe. Doona is amazing which was Poor College Student - Almost Washed Up Idol which.... well, not your typical Kdrama fair.
You had to mention Start-Up. That show had me until? The 13th episode when it became another show that did not…
Hey, Uncontrollably Fond was just hard hitting on the emotional level. I know how you felt. I've always seen her as attractive. Her look was so different for this show - dark - in upping her appeal. Whoever did her costume, makeup, and hair certainly knew what they were doing to accent her beauty. She's a versatile actress and so very much talented. However, what was really appealing about her character was the attitude she portrayed right from the start - that alone was hot. Beauty and appeal is not all about looks... a little mystery goes a long way.
The most dramatic physical difference was her face. I would almost swear that she was not who she is - almost like a different person. Stylists did a 10/10 job.
I'll recommend despite its flaws. Enjoyable. Liked it. Acting was good. Romance sub-plot was spotty and poorly done. Kim So Hye was wonderful. Lee Sang Yeob portrayed being a b*st*rd, very well done. Kim Hyung Mook, his role was so different from what I'm used to and I liked it - it just seems like he was always playing the bumbling evil bad guy but not this time! Chae Won Bin... loved her role. Most annoying character? Kim Jin Woo... not the best fit. Overall, I loved the acting except for that one which was cringeworthy. When my suspension of disbelief is constantly being interrupted by one supporting cast? It's an issue.
They didn't look like boxers? Bantam weight class between 115 lb (52.2 kg) and 118 lb (53.5 kg). Maybe some wanted the female boxers to look like Mike Tyson? It is a kdrama and I don't expect the leads to spend 6 mos to a year bulking up muscle mass at that weight class to be like a professional boxer for a 12 episode Kdrama.
Romance? Ugghhh.... an afterthought. Botching a romance sub-plot is worth a full point off.
There was some nonsense regarding BANG-BANG in the last episode, that just was not explained at all. The ending, wrapping everything up post-climax, was choppy at best. That's a director's editing problem.
ACTING/STORY/SCRIPT: 9.5/10 - loved the actors with 1 exception. ROMANCE: 5/10 - yeah, it was there but mostly absent. Terrible. EDITING: 7/10 - choppy editing at the end cost it.
Last episode: Loved it, overall. After the ringside climax of the show? Perfection. After that? Poor editing :(
this show was peak "I can fix her" and I really really enjoyed it. Suzy is still the goat
Come on. He fixed her. In the end with that scene in his room? She fixed him. The open ending was well... not the best way to end and was tilted moreso to them being together. However, the ending should have been more solid with the answer. Seems as if the ending was meant to generate buzz for the show instead of being satisfactory - one way or another, for better or worse. Disappointing that the writer(s) went that route for buzz.
Well, it is nowhere near as bad as the ending of LOST or START-UP (last 4 episodes were unhinged).
It's entirely the fans fault. Here's how it goes:1. Fans get angry that idols date2. Idol image is hurt because…
In other words, it is all about the Benjamins ($$$). As an American, rabid fan bases are strange; stalkers are not. Larry Hagman who played one of TV's most iconic villians - J.R. Ewing in the show "Dallas" - had some fan issues where fans would actually think he was the evil J.R. Ewing in real life. I don't think he had any issues with the fans as they would ask, "Why did you do that to ***insert character here***". And that was the 1970's and 1980's.
I love how this show is a solid 8 ratings now. I guess some people like it ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
It is so different from what I am used to as far as pacing and story goes. Probably threw some people off with the way the story progressed. I don't find it to be your typical Kdrama.
Kind of annoyed with fans who give shows bad ratings because it was not a happy ending this was a great drama…
I actually thought it was - despite being open ended - that they would end up together. Remember - paraphrasing - the line where she said "it will only be 2 years"... after he told her to apologize the first time (if I recall correctly)... and some other items?
A. It was over 2 years like she said. B. She got mad this time and forced him to apologize. C. Final scene in Japan, he's eyeballing the cake and smiling (as someone pointed out somewhere else) and she seems to know he is there D. He has his own job and is no longer a kid
Hmm saw suzy last time if I remember correctly in start up but why do I find her hot suddenly cause I don't remember…
You had to mention Start-Up. That show had me until? The 13th episode when it became another show that did not seem related to the first twelve episodes. The writers took Suzy's character and made it pathetic. Suspension of disbelief, all common sense, and believability (along with credibility - of the writer(s)) was nuked by those last episodes. Not Suzy's fault at all. The writer(s) went off to la-la land.
Now, Uncontrollably Fond (Sweet Heartbreak Hotel where you never check out)? Vagabond (each episode was better than the last)? While You Were Sleeping (the show opener - shocking and one of the best ever)? Agree that her acting in this show is superb.
No one is talking about The kiss scene in this drama ? Satisfyingly hot, have not seen a hot kiss scene like this…
The scenes in Business Proposal and My Name and even Destined For You were well talked about as being hot and steamy. They were more graphic in my opinion. However, the scene(s) here were much better while doing less. From the very first episode, emotion was involved in some way, shape, or form... interwoven in every scene. Which helped to add impact to the more tender scenes such as the kiss scene. In other words, there was always a buildup in tension from one episode to the next, like pressure in a volcano anticipating an explosion, that finally released when the kiss finally happened. That's my opinion.
Well grounded, mellow show that kept the pace going well enough.
Consistent, well acted, with the emotional scenes hitting all the right notes. At nine episodes, the story finished well and probobaly could have squeezed in another episode to flesh out characters and/or back stories more. I feel that some details could have been better explained. And the rating is usually accurate. However, this 8.0 rated show as of today is more deserving of a 9.0 or 9.5. As another poster remarked, this is a show good enough to ignore the rating on.
I am happy to see Bae Suzy expand her repertoire of characters. Her versatility in acting shines yet again. Park Se Wong was quirky. Ha Young is a sympapethic character. The best male roles (my opinion) belonged to Joo Yeon Woo and then Kim Min Ho. Yang Se Jong was somewhat stiff; I put that down to how his character was written.
Steamy scenes? Looking for My Name or Business Proposal? This show has some very tastefully done scenes that do not have to work so hard to convey the feelings of the characters in the scenes. I think I preferred the scenes here to the before-mentioned two Kdramas.
I admit at first I wasn't a fan of "Good day to be a Dog" but its growing on me, I think its cute and its a shame…
I felt the same way when I read the show description and how it could not possibly be a good drama. I was completely wrong and I freakin' love the show so far.
they should have waited to hhave AGDTBAD to have uninterrupted play and not do this one epeosde per week, it kills…
I thought that "Good Day to be a Dog" would be a silly show not worth watching because of how ridiculous the premise sounded to me. I was completely and very, very wrong. I love the episodes so far and with the teasers in the storyline, I want more. Agree on the 1 episode a week thing.
Oh Gosh the critocism towards JoBoAh is unbelievable, Ive seen pretty FL's dead as a broom and they still casting…
You know Mystic Pop Up Bar? Nice :)
Vincenzo (the Lamborghini pulling up to the courthouse, classic entrance) Prosecutor Doberman (snipping off fingers) 365: Repeat The Year Kairos White Nights (this one was intense) Come and Hug Me (one of the best - listen to soundtrack song Elevate) The Game: Towards Zero Awaken etc...
I could go on. As for "Destined For You" I liked the office romance between Gong & Ma in Destined For You - well delivered. The MC's past life experience was well detailed - with perhaps too much time being devoted in long segments (they might have split them up better). The Bloody Hand ( I loved this detail, it was so wickedly cool) was such a hook in the early episodes - I liked that so much. And then? Episodes 7-9 which seemed to be the same episode, with some differences. The writer(s) at the end of each episode would then throw in sort of a mini-cliffhangar and then? Choke for most of the next episode. :(
Still, I finished it. Again, the actors were not at fault. It just seemed as if the writing was very rushed.
Jo Bo Ah is a solid actress after TOTNT, Doberman, and now with Destined with You it will be a banger I guarantee…
I was disappointed in Destined For You, not because of the actors... but because of the writers. It started out with such an interesting concept and then it seems that the writer(s) did not know what to write anymore :( I finished it anyway just because of the ML/FL. Ah, well... actors can only do so much to carry a show. It's not bad, but it could have been so much better.
I checked your profile. VINCENZO! VINCENZO! VINCENZO!
"Jo Bo Ah will play the role of Jae Yi, she actively looks for her half-brother Hong Rang. Jo Bo Ah falls in love…
That phrasing is just so suspect. Maybe it is backwards that she finds out he is not her real brother and begins to fall in love afterwards? On IQ.com and even Viki, I come across some show descriptions that are... well.... not exactly what is going on in the show.
I overlook it because a. I've worked as a translator and know how difficult it can be, b. My Korean sucks so I can't fault others whose grasp of English is far greater than my grasp of Korean, c. I've been at fault myself, sometimes intentionally, by coming up with technically correct phrasing that is perfect grammar, yet would never be used by native speakers. Ironically, the native speakers would know exactly what I was saying or requesting.
It's fun stuff. Though I drew the line at intentionally producing offensive translations that would mislead or harass others.
Nothing to do with misogyny, and everything to do with her lack of acting talent. I'm a hardcore feminist defending…
I can't believe I am actually going to post the following:
Haters have to hate.
There is nothing to do for them. And that poster breaking out the "I'm a feminist" card as if that gave them some authority?
In any serious debate (club, televised, etc), pulling that card to attempt to silence others? Would earn such ridicule that the person would have to leave the debate. Online is a different matter however where one can remain anonymous while spewing nonsense.

Well, you don't have to watch.
Forest? She nailed it. Prosecutor Doberman? She did action, nailed it. Destined With You? That is a writing/scripting issue. Even I am annoyed by the script. The cast? The only reason I will be watching further past episode 10. I might even drop it soon if the writing gets any worse. No fault of the cast, though. Tale of The Nine Tailed? Loving it so far.
Does she do cute/attractive on screen? That is casting. Directors/writers want a certain look and certain acting style. Kristen Stewart was atrocious in The Twilight Series and people blamed her for being so "wooden". That was actually the director telling her to act like a wooden, emotionally deprived emo-kid. Yes, I was forced to watch one film of that drivel, with the director-enforced barf-tastic acting.
I can argue that many actors and actresses mostly do the same roles, over and over again. Ji Chang Wook... for starters. Great actor. Nam Ji Hyun (Shopaholic Louis, 365, Suspicious Partner), great actress - mostly same roles. Shin Hye Sun. Etc.

Best bet? They have a side thing going.
