Overall I felt it was a pretty well done live action but the last episode did fall flat for me...Maybe i'm just…
I did feel the finale episode was lacking more “oomph”, you know? It felt a little lackluster, like there was so much more angst and emotion in the previous episodes and no real crescendo here. I still enjoyed the series, though. Prefer the feels I got from the anime more, lol
This series has virtually no effective plot. More time has been spent on sound effects than a proper storyline. And who are even all these random people? My face as I continue watching this:
Somehow… by force (and yes, I know no one forced me but myself lol), I managed to finish this series. A total feat of mental strength. Whooo, moving on!
The comment section full of the love triangle, and here I am pray for our best boy Namgoong to not end up with…
Yes! She’s just spoiled rotten, so you can’t help but feel irritated with her. You don’t want her to get the AMAZING guy that is Namgoong… but it sucks to say it, but a firm and levelheaded guy like that would definitely put her in her place. I’ll still be sad if it happens lol
Episode 11 was a BEAST! There was so much self-discovery, courage, raw emotion, pain- real issues in the lives of modern teenagers. Let me start from best boy:
Nam Goong, you are the definition of quiet fierceness. Anyone would be blessed to the heavens to have a friend as awesome as him. He confronts the negative “friends” of Da-On with such a subtle slap that they can’t help but feel like the jerks they are being.
Shin Woo, just wow. I loved the way he blossomed as a person this episode. Accepting the reality of TaeKyung’s feelings for Da-On and still wanting to be there for TaeKyung no matter what. That’s when you can truly see how real Shin Woo’s feelings for him have become. He is ready to put himself out there and be open with his feelings, no matter what (and episode 12 spoiler where he said he would go after TaeKyung if Da-On didn’t- YES SIR).
Da-On, poor boy. I know people want to beat up on him for being inconsiderate of TaeKyung’s feelings, but we have to realize that he has spent his whole life trying to fit himself perfectly in the box of the ideal expectations of his parents, his teachers, his classmates. Confrontation makes him scared because he knows the potential fallout of being honest, of being his real self (if he is even able to discover that, truly). His situation is really sad because he can’t learn to be who he is with all the pressure and judgment he faces. I hope things will get better for him or that he gains the courage to stand on his own two feet.
Lee So Hee- girl, you have a lot of growing up to do. I hope she realizes that being selfish to the detriment of people you supposedly care about will only cause you to be unhappy and possibly lose those people. A hard lesson to learn in life: you don’t always get what you want.
I’m so in love with this series because everything is not as lighthearted as it originally appeared. Sometimes I think people forget just how much angst there is in the lives of teenagers. Couple that with all the bombardment of negativity from social medial influences (here’s looking at that group chat), and it becomes a confluence of all things for the perfect storm. I can’t wait to see how things play out.
If anybody threw up on me, I would have a fit and would have taken a bath in fire that comes straight from hell.…
OMG, you said all I was thinking when I was watching the Bas and Marco scenes. I would have needed intense psychological counseling to deal with being barfed on. “Bathe in a fire straight from hell”… you had me rolling! And the toothbrush sharing… disgusting. I know I’m already grossed out by watching someone brush their teeth, so this episode was aiming to put my psyche through some trauma.
After watching episode 10, I’m so torn between wanting something between TaeKyung and Da-On or Shin Woo. But I’m still loving the series.
For the people who have said the main characters in this love triangle are robotic acting, I would beg to highly differ. I think that Shin Woo and Da-On are doing an excellent job at portraying that anxious, teenage first time real romantic feelings, coupled with a probable sexuality realization on Da-On’s part. Anyone who’s ever gone through figuring out that kind of self discovery in a potentially hostile environment (a.k.a. high school, in SK where acceptance of homosexuality isn’t as widespread as it is in other Asian countries like Taiwan or even Japan is a bit more open to it). On top of that, Da-On seems to be the type to always do everything the way everyone else wants in order to be universally loved and accepted (probably due to the lack of affection from his home life). So having to face any situation, any feelings, any actions that may cause others to judge him negatively would be quite stressful.
I think he (Da-On’s actor) does a good job of portraying that small smile that says “I’m putting on a happy front; no one notice it’s a front”. And of course there’s Shin Woo. Even though it’s only been alluded to up until episode 10, Shin Woo has been through being judged for being openly affectionate to another person. Whether if at the time he meant it to be romantic, he was essentially judged harshly as being gay for both 1) gifting another male something, and 2) not denying it when others implied he was gay. It’s obviously had an effect on his further interactions with people. It’s all tentative and awkward.
TaeKyung, on the other hand, is just awkward. He has no real social skills after actively avoiding making friends and socializing until such a late age. He says things bluntly and doesn’t seem to make connections to things being uncomfortable because he has no experience.
Namgoong is a beast. He makes every scene he’s in eventful. He’s very over the top, yet he showed this week that he can be serious, and he cares very much for his friends. I like how he tried to put So Hee in her place. And So Hee… ugh. Just your typical entitled brat. Actress does a spot on job since everyone obviously hates her character ;)
Overall, I’m really enjoying this series. I am really invested in the boys’ happiness because they exist in a world of “Should I’s”.
Now the community post on their YouTube page says to “Stay tuned for episodes 14 and 15”. I thought there was only one episode left. I have been trying to patiently wait to watch it and take this series out of the way, but it seems like they are intent on dragging this series out as long as possible. So frustrating.
Okay so season 2 Is pretty okay but I think there are some issue with the audio also that car scene was weird,…
OMG that was me, too. Literally all of that. I really don’t like James and Ait, especially Ait. I get that a person who’s never been in love or in a relationship can be immature, but he’s borderline infantile. It’s really hard to take.
And yes, the barfing scene was horrible. Not only was I watching this on my iPad as I was having dinner, but it was quite graphic. Marco really did handle it well. He’s sweet, and I really want him to move on from James and be happy :)
Let’s see how it goes, because two episodes in, and I don’t really have the same connection as S1. But I really want to see this story to completion.
It is sooo obvious Daon does not feel the same way about Taekyung If you think otherwise something is wrong with…
I’m interested in your theory. What’s your opinion, then, about Da-On doing things only to TaeKyung (such as pinching his cheeks or patting his head)? TaeKyung points it out to Da-On, and I’m curious if you don’t think that indicates he thinks more of TaeKyung than he does of others? Or maybe it’s because, as Da-On says himself, that TaeKyung is the only person he can be honest with? I don’t know what to think. The only thing I feel sure of is that Shin Woo definitely likes TaeKyung romantically. He mentioned having fallen in love at first sight before and another time saying it couldn’t happen again. Then his exchange with So Hee made it clear- his feelings are there, but he’s not going to stand in the way of TaeKyung being with Da-On if that’s where his heart leads.
I am really enjoying this series. For some reason, Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese BLs do brooding and angst in a way that Thai and Filipino don’t (no shade because I love them, too).
I’m so happy this is being done. Love the manga, love the anime, and two episode in and I’m enjoying the live action drama. But only six episodes :( everything will be put in high gear. The guys are all doing a good job with the acting. I laughed right away when I saw Kaji because I tried to fit his look to the anime version. Anime Kaji always killed me for some reason. Kind of like a blonde meathead rocker. Anyways, EXCITED!!!
I’m enjoying the show so far, and I agree with those who say the pacing is a bit slow. Normally, I don’t have a problem with slower pacing, but I see that the series will only have 10 episodes, so I hope that there won’t come a time (like the last two episodes) where a bunch of stuff that still needed to be addressed gets crammed in. Otherwise, I’m enjoying the two main leads. They are doing a good job of portraying teenagers who are trying to decide their path in life and managing changing and growing emotion.
P.S. I’m glad to see Tonnam here. He was so cute and funny as Natee in “Why R U”, so I’m glad to see more of him even in a much more toned down manner lol
Jeff and Gameplay are wonderful. They play off each other really well outside of any series. Not to mention, great chemistry.
P.S. Gameplay is my baby. I will watch him do anything, including eating and talking with a full mouth on his “Food Hacker” episodes. Okay, I’m whipped…
I also have the same question. After episode 2, I am quite suspicious of Note and Tar. Are they in a relationship…
I agree- totally suspicious. Brothers can be close, but they seem… together. I’m sure one brother wouldn’t be too concerned if another brother was hogging his time when you guys wanted to “go out to dinner”. I guess we will see.
So… I was literally only going to watch this to support my baby Honggie, but I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised. The plot isn’t anything overly extraordinary, but at least it’s interesting and doesn’t feel draggy because the episodes are short. I’m really curious to see what’s going to happen with Oh Ha Rin poking around with things she probably shouldn’t. That’s as much as I’ll say without spoiling.
I found the reconciliation among the family members of Lukmo and Simai to be very unnatural. Lukmo has been abandoned…
Yes to everything you said. The way the storylines had really abrupt transitions here in episode 11 makes you feel like you’ve missed an episode. That’s frustrating. But the highlight of the episode for me was definitely the way Nampu really laid it out there for Copy to be open about them together. They are definitely getting more mature and serious instead of the silly flirting that it was earlier on.
P.S. I don’t know if MaiEak has heard the saying “You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone”, but I know he’s feeling it with Phob moving on. Sucks to have a feelings realization too late.
I really love this little series. War is such a good conveyor of emotions in his acting. I really feel everything with him- the longing, the nervousness of having a crush, all of it. And his friend Bright- what a good wingman he is :) The whole thing is just sweet. And Yin- wow, he just looks so freaking adorable here, I can’t help but smile so hard whenever he appears. I can’t wait to see how their story concludes.
o¿O
