I always entertain myself whenever I see your comments on series that I also watch. Totally agree about fujoshis... they’re kind of gross and many times toxic. But is this really the worst BL you’ve ever seen? There have been some real trash put out there compared to this, so... or are you limiting that statement to only Thai BLs?

P.S. So Much in Love was awesome because it was just that messy, crazy, WTH am I watching kind of series.

Title Love Poison Season 2 Spoiler
If the misunderstanding with Ball had happened in 1,000 Stars, I would be ranting and raving at how they ruined…
I was literally giggling at how the teacher looks like a little boy compared to the students. He’s so adorable with his bracers, too. It just make him look 12, lol.

But I get Teng feeling a bit out of sorts with how Ball is overly close to Ko, especially knowing Ball used to try to flirt with Ko. But they just need better communication. Ko does tell Teng there’s nothing between them, but it’s obvious he needs more reassurance. We have to remember that they are schoolboys, not adults who’ve been through this more than once. The reverse situation with Teng and Madam Butsaba is just creepy. I know Teng is just basically using her for the money, but she’s been a bit creeper-ish.

The situation with Tuk and Sek is more frustrating because either Tuk is completely clueless, or he doesn’t care about this girl CLEARLY flirting with him when he has a boyfriend. I’m leaning towards clueless because you would have to be to not notice how much it is bothering Sek. And Sek denying their relationship to Kaojee was a misplaced attempt to protect his boyfriend, but as always, miscommunication. I hope they clear it up.

I loved the first season and the Northern Thai dialect and singing. It’s always nice for a change. I hope the episodes and story continue to improve.

P.S. This new Sek is cute, but I really miss the original one. His serious eyes and crackly voice just sparked something for me. He was it.

When the phrase “Mistakes have been made” has never been more accurate. The omission of this scene from the official broadcast is practically criminal!

How could such an important scene be cut?! I felt like bawling my eyes out watching it!!!

Yeah, I don’t like them. My mom has one, but she’s old school and doesn’t need a fancy computer.

Title Y-Destiny
I don’t get all the complaints. This is obviously a series you wouldn’t file under the “serious stories” catalog. It’s your basic over-the-top Y series- good looking guys, clichéd tropes, and a script that makes you go “Huh?” or “Hmm”... one time too many.

I enjoyed the first episode. After watching the first few minutes, I knew exactly what would be in store for me. Who’s to say that the other couple storylines won’t be more series/realistic or whatever you want to call it, but for now, this is where we are.

My only real constant eye-rolling trope so far is the “our faces are so close yet not touching but we hate each other but here we are still 5cm apart”. It’s fine once... maybe even twice. But I lost count of how many times it happened here.

I’m happy this is going on because lots of my favorite actors are here (ahem, Park! I’ve missed you so much! You are great here as Coach Kong. P.S. Justice for #JapanTai lol).

Let’s keep going! :)

I love him and was so excited to see him in Y-Destiny. His acting is so natural and his visuals are so unique and lovely.

Episode 6- I called it! I knew Nathan was going to end up catching feels for Elmo. I feel sorry for Elmo because he has to do so much to “help” his sister, who, let’s face it, is seemingly incredibly selfish and inconsiderate (of her brother and her boyfriends). Even though it would be nice and tidy if Elmo stayed with Nathan and Sarah stayed with Jessie, we all know it probably won’t work like that because Sarah has said she loves both of them, so I don’t think she’ll be okay with one ditching her for her brother. I liked this episode because it finally brought the secrecy and pent up emotions to a head, but I still found it distracting the acting of Nathan. It’s cringey. Seeing how this is supposed to run for 10 episodes, I’m curious to know what else can happen. I hope something will be done with Alvin’s storyline because there was definitely something there- an attraction to Elmo or something. Who knows?

Am I the only one who waited until the very last minute for Nite I to come back even tho the series had gone so…
I did too, but I think what someone said in another comment last week or so is right- it seems as if they continued filming this series after some time had passed in the middle and only some of the actors came back. Tae is more fit with longer hair (and that’s the most obvious part). I really thought Nite I was so adorable, even though the acting wasn’t great, I liked him and Tae together. The ending- to me- just felt like “Ehhh...”

I got a good laugh at the way Xiaotian rushes to kiss his best friend/crush (?) so the other friend couldn’t. The King game makes yet another infamous appearance in a BL series. I’m excited to see where this little series goes. I love Taiwanese series, so I’m always up for more. Still patiently waiting on “Innocent”. They got me hooked from that teaser mini episode months ago

So... episode 3 is significantly shorter than the first two episodes. Maybe they realized that it will be hard to flesh out a minimal plot over such a long runtime and that many episodes. Here’s what I don’t get- I’ve seen videos and even short series made on cellphones with better audio and video syncing that in this series. I understand small budgets, but it almost feels like no one rewatched the clips after they were edited together to see if it was smooth with clear enough sound. Honestly, couple all those issues together and you get a series that is difficult to watch. I’m going to try to keep on with this since I hate dropping shows, but we will see.

On another note, from what I’ve gathered so far from episode 3 is that the pairings seem to be Mack/Art (enemies to lovers) and Sai/Khel (common acquaintances). I haven’t figured out much other than that. There was also a significantly smaller role for the pink crew. Only one member was present in this episode, and that storyline was left hanging... until next episode? Who knows.

I understand the criticisms of this low-budget series overall, but I think these discussions are too harsh. For…
Don’t get me wrong- I don’t hate this series. I am happy to have more out there that are truly more in line with being an LGBTQ drama as opposed to the fluffy and one dimensional BLs that are, as you say, plentiful. I like this. I want more series to tackles issues like this. But I also don’t want it to be tossed in the “Drop” list or just never completed by people who start it because they don’t find it intriguing enough.

Series such as this have an important role to play, and that is to show that LGBTQ people are real with real issues (some like everyone else, and some very different). I did enjoy the scene in episode 7 where Damon and his uncle are speaking about God because I could feel the frustration and disillusionment coming from Damon about whether God really paid attention to them. For me, that was the main part of episode that captured my attention.

My intention is never to come across as overly harsh, but I just wanted to voice some of my frustrations for the series. It’s a hope for future series such as this to have something “more” direction wise or production wise to draw viewers in. I’ve cared enough about this series to stick around to the end, and I hope others will also give it a chance and not just drop it because they feel it’s too dry, or boring, or not sexy enough, or whatever. I think it’s safe to say that we all know how shallow/impatient some BL fans can be.
On Meet My Angel Mar 26, 2021
This is the kind of series that makes me frustrated because I love the concept, but find the execution lacking or uninspired. So many of the issues in this show are ones that most of us people who are LGBTQ and also Christian/believers in God have to tackle. Does God love me? Why do I have to suffer/face discrimination? How do I continue to live life? It’s all meaningful and painful at the same time because I’ve been there especially in my teenage years. But there’s more talking and less doing in this series- which would be fine, considering the subject matter. But the talking is boring and repetitive. I am honestly struggling to make it through each episode. Enzo and Kaleb are doing well with the acting, but that’s the most for the positives. When I first heard of this series, I had higher expectations. I guess I’ll just see how they do in the finale next week.

I didn’t really get the last two episodes. They felt so disconnected from the first four. I understand that all the events of the last two episodes are part of Jim’s life, but the heavy religious content and his family’s inside story was such a stark contrast to the heavy, explicit sexual content from earlier. I also didn’t get a good grasp of what happened to Jim and Michael’s relationship at the end. Do they get back together or is this intended to leave you wondering? And if I hadn’t read the show’s description, the time that “passed” since the death of Jim’s mother isn’t clear, so we don’t really get the feel that there’s been time to move on, process, etc. Maybe that’s just me. I had a hard time getting interested in the last two episodes, to be honest, so maybe my attention wasn’t at 100%.

Possibly unpopular opinion: I think there are way too many trans characters in Filipino BL - really all BL. The…
I think maybe the way you worded it initially doesn’t necessarily come across the way you intended. I love the inclusion of trans characters in BLs because it helps people at large to be more familiar with them and their struggles/lives/journeys to find love. Even though initially BL anime, books, and series were directly marketed to straight women (and largely still are), many people in the LGBTQ community watch them. I like the inclusion of trans characters because, even though I am part of the community, trans people are who I have had the least contact with (just happenstance/the way life goes). I would like to see more and learn more, but just as BLs aren’t usually realistic portrayals of gay relationships, the portrayals of trans people are also not usually realistic. And it sucks because I would hate if a person who didn’t know better used these depictions as realistic. My issue has been with the portrayal of the femme/genderqueer characters. I don’t like how they are almost always oversexualized, WAY too over the top, and lacking in social decorum. A solitary character here and there can be used for comic relief, but definitely not an entire subset of people.

I agree with you about Miray’s character, though (Stranger’s Kiss). I am not going to lie when I say that I teared up when I saw her struggles. Not that all trans people have it so horrible, but it feels the most realistic and most relatable. Kudos to the series’ writing team on that part.
