Right? The sweet trailers really delude us! I read the novel synopsis and the tag is "weak male lead" lol... because…
I was so confused by how happy and romantic the beginning of the trailer was - it didn't seem like a CY project at all, but then he started spitting blood and I thought, 'Oh I see why you chose this 😂' I saw a BTS video of him beating someone up so hopefully not completely weak throughout 🙈
Yeah I figured this out on my second rewatch as well, I missed so many details on my first watch🤠Later Guan…
I was confused by this conversation when I first watched this, but I didn't dwell too much because I was so engrossed in finding out what happens next.
I love all the details we pick up on rewatching, even the heartbreaking ones - for example, when Baichuan Yuan were interrogating LLH to see if he was really LXY after he accidentally won the right to hold the shaoshijian, LLH lied about a load of stuff and said he had a brother - not knowing that he truly did have a brother he didn't remember ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I hope so! Since this is a modern drama I really don't see any reason to dub his voice, but fingers crossed 🤞
Yes, I find the dubbing thing very bizarre and even disorientating. For example, I found it so jarring to watch King's Avatar straight after Love O2O and suddenly hear a different voice coming out of Yang Yang's mouth lol. I believe they did it because they wanted the voices to match the donghua (which was also apparently why TBoY was so heavily dubbed), but still, I can't help but find it weird to hear different voices for the same actor 🙈 Even my parents who are 'properly' Chinese (as in were born in and grew up in China 😂) find the wide use of dubbing actors odd.
MLC was my first CY drama. I was impressed with his performance anyway, but that scene with SGD in EP30 (?) (I'm sure you know which one I mean, I recognise you from the MLC page haha) made me truly, truly respect his acting skills. His line delivery is superb; his voice holds so much emotion without needing to resort to overacting/melodrama and like you said he can adjust his voice to match the character or circumstance, so I was really surprised to hear he was dubbed in his other dramas. Hopefully any future projects of his will appreciate his performance in MLC and allow him to dub himself 🤞

Indeed, his voice is soothing, but at the same time very expressive IMO. There are several reasons why certain dramas are dubbed. CY's line delivery is definitely not an issue and if it was sound interference CY could always dub himself. I don't know, but I suspect he's dubbed because, in the director's/producer's/whoever's opinion, his voice doesn't match the 'vibes' of the character. For example, you'll notice that actresses with 'deeper' voices are often dubbed with an actress who has a high pitched voice to match the innocent, clueless character they're playing. For IS, I think they dubbed CY to differentiate YY & TZ from XY (like in MLC, a voice actor dubbed LXY but CY kept his voice for LLH) and they let him dub XY himself because his voice is more suited to that character (which I agree - villain with a deep, sexy voice? Yes please 😂). Anyway, I'm not sure - those are just my thoughts. Since it's a modern drama, the 'vibes' thing and even accents are less of an issue so lets see. I'm praying to the C-drama gods 😂

Yep that's why Dylan Wang is dubbed even in modern dramas - his Sichuan accent is too 'strong' for dramas 🙈 Cheng Yi doesn't really have an accent so I see no reason to dub him in a modern day drama, but who can predict what C-dramaland will do 😛
And I think I can say with certainty, Young Master Xue also will survive as we have his adult version in the cast…
I agree. At the moment, I don't see any reason plot-wise why Xue Tong Zi will die in the end. But FYI, I'm pretty sure we've already seen the 'adult' XTZ. In the flashback to when GZY accidentally entered Xue Shan, we see an adult whose face we're not shown. I'm pretty sure that's the adult XTZ because the voice we heard was Joseph Zeng's (the actor playing the adult XTZ) because I'd recognise his voice anywhere... that's unless he's also playing a different character! In terms of why he's now a child, I'm looking forward to finding out :)
Are you sure it was Hi6? Hi6 only started broadcasting in 2022 and The Lost Tomb 2 only came out in 2019. Maybe…
Wow he seems like a completely different person here! I wonder if it's a hectic schedule that's making him more reserved :( If all those clips are from the same program then it's definitely a Happy Camp episode. Let me do some digging and see if I can find the specific one because I also want to watch now haha

Hmm, is it this one? This is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that has CY and a water game but he doesn't really feature in that game. Do you still have the clip?
I think people have already responded to your question below? I think he's meant to be an annoying character, everyone seems to find him annoying :)
It depends on what you mean by try to hurt LLH - he tries to sully his reputation and then he challenges him to a fight towards the end (which LLH refuses), but ZJ never physically harms him.
No one puts him in his place by beating him up (I'm assuming this is what you mean?), but he gets ignored and kicked aside by those around him at various points so he gets what he deserves ;) Don't worry too much and just enjoy MLC :)
I wanted to watch the Hello Saturday episode of Cheng Yi when he was promoting The lost tomb drama but I can't…

why do you think this was a sad ending? lmao didn’t they hint on that he was still alive at the end albeit it…
Indeed. First rule of C-drama, if you don't see a dead body then assume that person is alive. Second rule of C-drama, even if you do see a dead body, that person may still be alive 😂
I want them to tells us more backstory of weishan. Like what's the story behind the twin sister
I wonder if the 'original' YWS is in fact YWS's twin. I feel like it's not a coincidence that they used Esther's voice for that character and they never showed her face in the opening sequence. Plus the villagers seemed to agree that the portrait looks like Esther's YWS. Hmmm, so many plot points to unravel. Can't wait :)
Also I agree the Gong sister is too over the top with her antics and quirks, it’s almost like she’s part of…
I love GZS too! I get the feeling from the GZY and GHY's father that the Gong family don't really respect the women in the family except for use as baby making machines. As another commenter mentioned it's odd that such an intense and serious family would be fine with GZS behaving in such a way. I wonder if part of the reason her persona is so exaggerated is because it's her way of, maybe rebelling is not the right word, but having freedom in a such a suffocating family. Who knows. She's definitely shown hints that she's not stupid and can be serious when the situation calls for it, so I hope we get to see her being badass at some point like all the other Gongs :)
And that mud fight in Episode 1, it’s brutally beautiful. So much strength and grace. Hat’s off to Esther…
Yes, I love how in this drama the dirty people look dirty and the injured people look injured. Usually dirt and injuries on the main characters are too 'pretty' for me - characters who have fall off a cliff will only have two pretty lines of 'scratches' and one strand of hair dislodged lol.
I wasn't too familiar with her before except for LBFAD so I'm impressed that she really went for it, let her face be slammed into the mud and then was happy to let it be shown so up close. I'm not convinced that many 'idol' actors would be happy to do something so 'ugly'.
i think every Episodes is a hour long compare to the standard 45 minute episode in Chinese Drama
24 eps * 1h = 24h 36 eps * 45mins = 27h
Don't worry, it's similar :) The production looks great and the pacing tight, so I trust that the scriptwriter and director only made this drama as long as it needs to be. Great dramas will be great no matter the length, take Reset (开端) for example, which was critically acclaimed and only 15 episodes. A drama that feels complete but still leaves you wanting more is a sign of a great drama - I'm sure this will be one. Don't worry too much and have faith :)
The clip from Hello Saturday when Cheng Yi said Yao , I think My waist and they continued playing the same game…
It's part of a ~25m video of extra content that didn't make it into the edit for the main episode. It's only available for VIPs at the moment but they usually release it a couple of days later for regular viewers :)
