Reading these comments made me almost drop this drama. So far, it's enjoyable. Not the best but not the worst. The pace isn't slow either, atp where I'm at. If you watch to ep 4, you should know the fate of the mermaid. Not sure why some ppl hate or mad at this segment and dropped the drama. We also got a smart FL, after all she is an old mythical beast. My problem for now is the CGI. You can tell it is a low budget drama.
accdg. to JJY's big fanbaSe acc, she is the VILLAIN, her dream character LmAo..
That'll be interesting. It's time for her to consider gray/dark characters. There are gray/dark characters that are MC. Hopefully, she gets those kind of scripts in the future.
Main character can't be a villain because it won't pass censorship.
could be a main character that is gray or dark and when did they passed a law to ban villain as MC? I saw some dramas with MCs who are gray/dark especially those contemporary dramas.
Why did they make her transformation so ugly? The descendant of Goddess Nuwa shouldn't be looking like that....even with red hair that goes up to the sky.
Because those voice actors spoke the traditional dialect (more like or close to the traditional dialect) and were trained. Ex. A drama from the Shakespeare time certainly doesn't have the same dialect or accent as American. It'd sound more like how British people speak. With so many different dialects in China, it'll be hard to understand each actor because they come from different regions. And some even have an accent, that'll make it harder to understand. Some actors did try to use their real voices, and it's better for them to be dubbed. You can tell right away with the dialect or accent. But the actors in this drama do sound good with their real voices though. So it probably comes to money and time or both.
The dialects and accents. It's like an ancient drama in the UK, but they speak with modern day American accent. It sounds very off and sometimes cringy. Also the thing is China has so many dialects depending on the regions, cities, provinces, etc. the actor is from. Some actors did use their real voices and it didn't sound good. Even if you don't know Chinese, you can tell it's off.
Another YouTube vlogger which is avenueX is also very criticizing towards this actress. Didn’t let me be influenced.…
JJY isn't one of AvenueX's favorites but I think she did give some fair points about JJY. If there's something good, she did point it out too. I watched a few of JJY's dramas. I don't think her acting is that bad nor that great. Her acting is ok. To be honest, some of the actors or actresses people claimed to be so good, seem to be in the same league as JJY. Maybe a little better than her but not like WOW performance. The hate she got also seems to be like a trend? In this drama, she actually did a better job than her previous ones (at least up to the eps available now) but people still said it's the same.
She always uses JJY as a punchbag in her vids. She claimed to just say what Cnets were posting about online but her vids said otherwise. She probably found an audience with that, so that's why she usually includes JJY at the end of her vids. Even though the topic was about someone else or something else, she would insert them at the end.... I thought it was funny at first but it's getting weird and not funny when it's done often.

They definitely not just face switched but soul switched. It doesn't make sense for the real Yang Cai Wei to suddenly have fair skin. She was an undertaker girl. She did a lot of labor works. Her skin isn't fair. If the script is really like that, then this is 1 plot hole right there. Maybe she didn't realize it and just thought they did face switched?
Omg i am so confused who is the real female lead the undertaker girl or Ju Jing Yi??
Both are FL. Undertaker girl is the old face and body. She died and woke up in the new body of Shangguan Zhi. The real Shangguan Zhi switched body with her from what I saw in the trailer.
Just found this one while browsing through to find new dramas to watch because some of these new hyped dramas didn't live up to expectations. So far, so good. This drama deserves more recognition. FL is very strong and smart. She's smart not because the writing keeps pushing to us that she's smart but through the actress' acting and the actions the FL took. I'd say this is one good example of how to portray a smart FL.
He他/She她/it它 are all pronounced “tā” in Mandarin…I find it interesting that those in the know use…
I don't think you disrespect anyone. It is understandable to have misunderstanding based on the subs. The Chinese term for those pronouns is gender less like YiSheng said. It's basically based on the context. As in this case, everyone knew her as a guy. So the correct subtitle should be "He". Idk why they put "She". It happened a lot in dramas where the female dressed as a man. Also she didn't get caught yet probably because she passed as a feminine guy.
But the actors in this drama do sound good with their real voices though. So it probably comes to money and time or both.
