Can anyone explain why moo young wrote the "i dont know if its love but lets leave together " memo even after…
Yup! Everything was just a game for him until Jin Kang happened. That jerk of an ex just rubbed Moo Young the wrong way. He was as is reckless with the lives of others and his own. So the death of SA didn't matter to him. Therefore, when Jin Kang's brother went to him to confirm his suspicion he said he would do it again if given a second chance, even at the cost of his own life and anyone else's. Complete sociopath, you see.
First let me get this outta the way... this was not nearly as glum as the original one. The Japanese version was extremely dark, twisted, messed-up and outright depressing (a lot sexier too). It had no light, hope or so called "romance". This felt like a fluff of pink cloud compared to that, even considering the ending. The j-drama made me depressed for the whole following week of watching. I don't think I can watch that again in spite of my love, Takuya (yes I have been in love with him since...). Therefore, I was wondering how they were gonna present his manipulative douchebag of a character that had a 5000 kw of electrifying sex appeal (please excuse my obsession) in a k-format. But I also had faith inn SIG's acting. You see, I am his fan too. And he never disappoints.
I am delighted to say that they did an excellent job. The crux of the story was almost the same (except for the incest), with that they added a nice k-twist. The characters were similar yet a lot different. Jung so min's character was way better that the original one (I hated Yuko). Moo Young was borderline sociopath with a character arch. Whereas, Ryo was an undiluted a**h*** till a few moments before he died. Not once did I feel bad for him even though I was thoroughly enticed by Takuya's portrayal of the character. Here I wanted to forgive Moo young for everything he did. I didn't care about others' happiness as long as he had that glint in his eyes (I was crazy selfish during this time). I understood Jin Kang's ignoring everything to date him. I was in her shoes. I didn't like the things he did yet I couldn't stop liking his character.
I didn't mind so much about the incest in the original or if this one had it (thank you GOT, you prepared me for the worst) or the sad ending (better than a stupid ending). Actually, the ending made the drama complete. I wouldn't have liked it the other way. He had to reap what he sow.
This one had a lot of romance. The chemistry blew my mind and I can't put it back together since then. I didn't think I'll get to see such perfect chemi twice this year (first was devilish joy). Even if the story was a dud, I'd have had watched it for the chemistry (like devilish joy). Most of the times, the sad and unfulfilled love stories are remembered more than the happy and complete ones (like rom+ju).
Great acting by the cast. SIG is such a versatile actor. No two characters of his dramas are the same. He was effing hot here. His indifferent stare is my jam and his sexy smirk my wallpaper. I am glad that he chose this role and the role chose him. Even when he was romancing a cutie-patootie like So Min his character didn't turn into a mushy lover-boy. He maintained his enigmatic charm throughout the show. He was a great seducer (this could've been that show) and manipulator.
The poignant ending made it one of the most satisfying drama of the year. The last lines will haunt my heart beautifully for a long time . Moo Young - "One afternoon, I missed something and started my journey. I walked, walked and walked again. I bumped again and again. Then I met Jin Kang. And... I started to breathe again... OH MY GOD! where are the tissues! I am not usually this sappy... scuse the tear snots... But one thing's for sure - although I wouldn't have fussed over an incest track, this way it will remain a sad yet beautiful lovestory forever.
Finally I have something this year that I can re-watch.
I'll watch it a few hundred times more. I'll grin ear to ear at some scenes again. I'll swallow the lumps in my throat again. I'll listen to "I know you'll be my home someday" and weep again and again.
I really love the mood of this drama. It is dark, and the OST is beautiful. I was legit smiling when Agnes Obel…
OMG! AGNES OBEL! I haven't started it yet. Just browsing through the discuss. Is the soundtrack out? I couldn't find it on Yt. Agnes=haunting (in the best way)
Is black a good drama? I was considering watching it next...
I mean, I liked it. It was interesting enough to keep me hooked till the end. Although, you might have a hunch of what's coming next, the unravelling is riveting.
Watched it for LSY (big fan). Also wanted to see LSK's next after her cute and perky acting in Weightlifting Fairy. It's not so much the big age gap that everyone's talking about ('cause it didn't bother me even the slightest) as it was the age gap that the actors seemed to have felt themselves (especially poor LSY), that came across on-screen as awkward chemistry. I read that there had been so much talk about this "age gap" thingy that LSY actually lost weight to look age appropriate with LSK. WTH! They should have much rather shown it in their acting. I mean, neither of them is a shy kisser (have seen them before). LSK doesn't mind to make space between her lips while kissing, unlike the lot whose closed mouth kisses look like they are forced to do so(awky af). Therefore, it's not the kissing in the chemistry that went wrong, but everything else did. So, remember next time director-nim, only good kissing doesn't mean good chemistry (talking to you Bride of the water god).
I liked the acting part (that's the only thing that I liked about the show). The story was rather good but felt like the writer and the director got bored partway and busied themselves in something else while still moonlighting on this show. It could have been a good show if right kind of attention had been paid to it. I feel bad because LSK is a fantastic actor and this project was unfair to him.
I set off for it after a lot of thinking just because KJW is listed as the third lead. I was not ready to watch him at a losing end of a love triangle again. Thank the writer that it didn't have a romance story in it, not even as an undertone. It's the first thing that had me keep watching, besides the engaging story of course. Sometimes some stories are just better off without a love track or else I am too busy shipping and sailing.
The narrative of the show was interesting enough for me to not fast-forward which I tend to do a lot in draggy dramas. The best part about the show was it kept me guessing till the last episode at PID's real vessel. Once I was so sure about who it could be but again went on the wrong tracks due to the carefully misleading clues. I think something like this has happened to me for the first time and that's what kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time. Having said that, I found the final showdown contrastingly underwhelming. I was thinking all along that the three kids were too amateur and ordinary to take on PID. But after so much build up what we got was an air-kiss:-@
Another thing about the show was, the later episodes were not as scary as the first few ones. At the end of the show, in the bts, they kept saying that it was so scary that it's hard for them to even say the lines, like they were trying to tell us to be scared instead of actually showing the scary things. What are we 5!
The acting was great. I saw the FL for the first time in this show, she just doesn't look like her MDL profile photo. When she first appeared on the screen, I thought she had a hint of Song Hye Kyo but later she started looking more and more like Son Ye Jin. At any rate she is beautiful. Her acting was a little annoying in the beginning where she yelled. Everyone else is awesome. I found Kim Jae Wook's character here a bit different from his other ones. He was vulnerable and innocent (with the sexy of course, the usual). I wish he had more screen time though. In the first few episodes Yook Gwang had more scenes than him.
The soundtrack was daebak. I am surely gonna download and listen. There was one scene where Mateo was exorcising the girl who tried to kill herself(I mean the ghosts in her body did); the other two were holding her down. When the souls were ejected from the body and the music played, it was such a heart wrenching scene. The actress was so good that it seemed all real. Must be so difficult to shoot such a scene.
I'll not watch it again since it'll be not the same after knowing the ending. But it was an enjoyable experience in spite of the simmered down conclusion.
omg you read my mind! I was thinking the same. Park il joo's Voldemort to hwa pyungs's harry! Park il joo is "he…
Oh right , It almost slipped my attention. Here too is a trio of 2 boys and a girl. But as much as like Ron and Rupert, I can't see his character in Mateo since Ronny was a lil goofy and mateo is a lonesome brooding man. And also I love Kim Jae Wook so much. He was my reason to start this. Hehe... bias and all, you see. I wish he was Harry!
I am not gonna spoil it for you. I hope you can watch till the end and like it. Have a fun ride!
I am on episode 5 now...first 2 eps were awesome...i think the story is toning down a little bit and getting repetitive..…
omg you read my mind! I was thinking the same. Park il joo's Voldemort to hwa pyungs's harry! Park il joo is "he who shall not be named" and Hwa Pyung is the cursed child aka the chosen one. The evil left a part of him in the child. As you keep watching, these feelings get even stronger. But the show itself is quite intriguing and engaging to me. I am at episode 12. Every time I guess someone to be PIJ, I stumble. The struggle is real!
It was so not what I expected. I watched it for CD and PEB. The cast did a great job at acting. The story seemed interesting but the writer couldn't maneuver it through the right course. 16 episodes of chasing after a psycho serial-killing half-baked hot demon-girl and constantly failing to get rid of her was exhausting to follow due to the lack of skilful story-telling. The first few episodes were interesting but it got sluggish real quick. And then the absolute bonkers ending happened. I could have been satisfied with a sad ending instead of the stupid patchwork one.
There were so many loose ends that were kept hanging for my frustrated mind - Why could only Yeo Wool see Da Il! Why did Woo Hye kill their family members; was there a reason or she just chanced upon them on her killing spree! How was Da Il still wandering around as a ghost when his body was not in coma (he was opening his eyes often after his body was discovered)! Is it a special medical condition where the patient wakes up from coma at certain times and falls back into it! There were so many suchlike unanswered questions.
It was alright for a one time watch. The story was a little childish and not well put together. But I liked the main leads. The ML was cute as a button and the FL was so charming and vivacious, her acting was on fleek. I loved the love story. The girl was totally my kind; strong, determined, not taking any shit from bullies, not whining or clinging. the boy was sure about his feelings and stopped dodging it soon enough. I loved the way he was dedicated to her and took care of her (except in the last few episodes of misunderstanding that didn't last long). And the best part was the chemistry. It was no joke. They were sticking to each other like glue. Sun Yi Ning is fantastic, She is so good in reciprocating, in fact I felt she made GF really comfortable so as to deliver such kinda chemistry. All in all, a cute drama with cute leads and perfect chemistry.
I just saw the trailer for the first time. It's a Citizen Kane as in Ken's home production. I think they are some sorta endorsing and advancing Toey by casting her in this. I always thought Toey is an absolute delight to watch. She is adorable, and a brilliant and versatile actress, however really underrated. So, even though I am not completely crazy about the pairing, I am glad that it happened this way. I hope she gets more substantial roles in big lakorns from here on. Ken is doing an amazing thing. I think the stars of his stature should help the newcomers and the underrated gems. That's why Ken is everything and a real bae<3
Can't thank Neko enough for subbing. Tq, tq, tq...
Btw, did Kenny boo age down for this one! He looks soooo delish! But then when does he not! And that smile! Ahh... God help me!
While everyone is raving about this one, I'd dare to say something different here. The chemistry in this is way better than the Korean version (since Korean one didn't have any), and also the cute and romantic scenes were amazing. Nevertheless, I liked the Korean story better. In the Thai version they made the girl even more masochistic and I am sorry to say that no amount of sweet romance is gonna mask it for me. In the Korean version, after taking crap from the guy for so many episodes the girl in the end gave him the taste of his own medicine, and I loved it. Whereas here he just left without saying anything and then made a video about how much he loved her. Seriously! And she again went running to him. He was not made to wait like he did with her, neither did he apologise properly for being a douche (it even had more episodes than the original one). Therefore, I do not agree with the ending and can't rewatch it ever again. Mr. Whishy-whashy should've gotten at least some kind of uncertainty from the girl. As Lemon told Wade regarding Zoey in Hart of Dixie, 'If you made a mistake then apologize, beg, grovel and then beg some more' (something like that, it's been a while).
This show gave me Mike and Aom though. I love them both and liked Kiss Me more than Playfull Kiss. I try to watch all of their Lakorns, if subs available.
New subbing project ^^ Despite a lot that doesn't like the pairing. I might be the odd one who think that this…
God Bless You Neko for subbing this! I thought no-one would be picking this one up. About the pairing though, I die for Ken and Toey is a bucket of adorable, but their pairing is a bit... umm...! But I'd watch anyway (thank you again) since I can watch Ken even just chewing gum for as many episodes they make<3 Also I think he should do Hollywood movies too.
