Youku be like: Here's a gift for you. 6 episodes on the first day. Then: okay we'll give you 2 per day or it'll be done in 8 days, no. Then: mwahahahaha now u'r addicted. 1 episode a week. What u gonna do? Leave? 😏
Wtf old Taiwanese drama ending was that to such a well done show! This show had such a well written story and characters. Nobody was perfect or pure evil. Ok except granma queen and tinn's fake fiancé. Those 2 were unblemished. And the ending served tinn's dad and chat with just deserts. I'll still stand by my statement tho that they weren't pure evil villains. Chat was irritating, yes. But not a villain.
Now, for the ending I'd have preferred a sad one given how close to reality they kept the whole show and characters. I wanted phob to die. It felt fitting to the story. I feel bad wishing this bc he was a pitiful character throughout. Ya ya in spite of his "despicable treachery". His whole world, his dreams and existence, revolved around being able to be with tinn. Even his people's welfare vision of abolishing class had this tiny selfish and naive dream to be able to be with tinn. So him dying would've been really unfair. Yet i thought it would've made sense.
Even if they didn't do that they could've shown him taken to a hospital immediately after the injury and tinn finding him sooner and waiting for him to heal, staying beside him. More realistic.
Instead they decided to pull an up to the last minute convincing everyone that he's dead and then at the last minute be like : gotcha! This was so unlike the whole vibe of the show. Like in the last minutes they were lured by the greed to veer into the lakorn territory of "some ridiculousness must".
It reminded me of the Taiwan dramas of the early aughts that used to pull similar ridiculous emotional damage tricks that would just leave an idc taste in my mouth.
The show was good. The ending execution, not so much.
Episode 8. So there's no black and white character in this show. They're all shady... i mean nuanced. And im a phob supporter. But when he wrote the letter to tinn saying one of the reasons he wanted to take down oligarchy is bc that way they can be together too, im like: no naive pookie, you guys are gay. You need a different regime change for that. Wait for stonewall maybe.
