Im gonna say something about the chemistry of the main couple here. I loved it so much. It was so perfectly framed to their story and the pacing of the show. Beautiful and peaceful but you can also see the comfort of a couple. Not heatedly passionate because that's not how their story is told. And i love the kisses. Coming from someone who's fussy about them. Either don't kiss or do it like you're not being held hostage. Not looking for slobbering on each other's faces, just natural chemistry. And these two's kisses were so sweet and organic.

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
Except for the point where they got divorce ( in which he thought was the right thing to do and regretted it later)…
Depends on what you consider as definition of wronged. He hurt her with his words before. And when he wronged her, no reason for that was a justification. And his actions towards Yeli never bear any consequence. His own regretting for 5 days and then forgiven by the person in a moment without a single complaint just downplay his action. Yeli's painful reliving of the past because of his action and him regretting and helping her through it is not a proportional consequence to what he did. Him realizing what he did, regretting and not himself being able to correct it by helping Yeli could've been.

His main reason for divorcing her was bc he thought she married him out of guilt and not just bc he felt wronged by her or was angry with her. SO that whole inference was from his own idea of how much he'd known her up to that point, which is a lot. The only thing remaining was to cut out her heart literally and show him how much she loved him. So my problem is a character like him may never be convinced of someone else's, who has once been a stranger to him, love for him. This started slowly and climaxed at the divorce. After doing all for him his questions like: did you even want to marry me, is, to me, clearly disrespectful and hurtful towards Yeli. And he never realizes that. These were early symptoms of the final outburst. Like yeli's 3rd uncle said, her father never could love her mother bc she was too smart. And he asked her if Mo Xiu Yao would see her the same way if he found out about the truth. To which yeli said she trusts him, although she had her fears. So I can't be sure that the next time Yeli does something that Mo Xiu Yao doesn't agree with, he'll again not hurt her even if with words. And Yeli doesn't deserve that. That's why I don't like his character as a husband for Yeli. All this is just imo.

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
So I've reached episode 35 and will pause until all episodes are out on viki. I assume a lot won't change in the last 5 episodes to change what i feel about it so far. It's overall a good show. Slow burn yet intriguing. There are a few very slow uneventful episodes but rest are all rolling with masterminding big games. There are plot conveniences here and there and a magical healing situation which is by habit as a long-time drama watcher standard to me.

I love yeli, queen dowager and consort dowager, these 3 characters. They're very interesting and uncommon characters. Yeli is such a strong character with psychological vulnerabilities. Neither queen or consort dowager is one dimensional or like characters I've seen before.

The chemistry of the main leads is great. It's sweet and realistic.

Now about Mo Xiu Yao, the character I'm most disappointed in. He started as a very interesting character. His distrust towards yeli was fully justified. Their relationship had a good going arc till the divorce plot, which i think was inserted as a transition to fully explore yeli's condition and the whatsitcalled place's reality revelation. I wish they chose another way. It ruined Mo Xiu Yao's credibility as a dependable partner. No matter how hurt he was, he already had an idea by then that yeli has hallucinations as a result of loneliness. He even helped her in that as much as he could. But then he still did that. His was becoming a bit fickle character in terms of a dependable husband in little signs, but i could've let it go. But after the last straw, if yeli was my sister or friend, I'd have advised her to break up with him. He's into into the repeat offender red flag territory.

Ya this guy doesn't deserve her. Pls go with that little kid, babe. He's more mature, dependable and trustworthy than your 24×7 butthurt husband. But she'll surely forgive this unreliable, selfish a$$ again and smilingly go back with him. And his crying in the corner and grey hair don't mean shit. I got grey hairs overnight during a typhoid spell and i cried abt it. Didn't even hurt anyone to deserve that.

Ps and the scene after his hair turns white overnight and everyone's flabber is gasted on seeing it and he walks to get his wife back in slow motion grandeur with emo crescendo bgm... what a heroic feat he's going for!

He is twenty years' old. The two acting jobs show his wide acting range, if you can call it wide. A complete 180°…
Ikr! He's so good!

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
This show has idaresay unique characters and storylines but im gonna say this: mo xiu yao has that almost ubiquitous problematic ml trope trait in his character. Guy is unhesitantly hurting yeli ever time she does something that worries or displeases him even after her repeatedly showing how much she loves and cares for him. He doesn't 100% trust her. He also shows his care and concern for her but that doesn't give him the right to hurt her. And i know irl when people are angry and hurt they say hurtful things. But here he does this like periodically and always without a consequence. For some time he's good to her then bam something hurtful. And she's the one convincing him those times without him ever saying sorry. Like seriously? Why this imbalance?

Yes. But she was selective about it and not ruthless enough for my gratification. If it were me whose mum got…
Agree. It wasn't satisfying to me either but seems fit to her character. My issue was the husband did take care of them rightly but we didn't get to see it. Just telling us what was done ☹

Dude be like: yeli you went to the temple for 3-4 days without telling me and i didn't say anything.
Me: naw man... she asked u to go with cos noone else was but u were buzy and then u threw a 5 km tantrum upon finding. So like go find a real harp to be on.

Ps his frustration in this scene is justified tho. Just don't bring up this closed loop.
