UM no I'm not attacking anyone and I'm def not talking bad about Darren Chen at all.

all I said was that his fox character was not as handsome as Ji Yang and I made up some fake news back story reasons for why they don't get along. The looks thing is just my preference. I never meant to imply he was ugly (in fact, I think he's cute) so please don't take it that way. also, "stinky fox" is literally the nickname dragon boi gives his character, so I use it too cause I think it's hilarious.

I was hoping you (and everyone) could tell by my overuse of emojis/xD face, and unhinged level of ZLH fangirling that it's just banter... guess that wasn't clear LOL

Depressing 😣 like just when you think it couldn't get any worse, it does... The story has disturbing beats, and I could feel the hopium brainwashing and the hopeless reality of it all, but it does end on a good note.

I also feel like there is quite a bit of symbolism in this one, which I liked (even tho I'm sure I didn't get 100% of it 😅)

But, I really wasn't a big fan of how it was filmed, and how certain dialogue scenes were executed. I can't explain so well, and idk why but for me it felt very "distanced", like it didn't draw me in right next to the character so I couldn't feel all the emotions with them. The acting is great in this, but I wish the camera focused on it more / differently :/

The scene that stood out most to me was Mulian feeding completely broken down Taihua. It was so REAL. Wow. I watched it a few times cause the acting is so good there, it's heartbreaking.

I will tell you why... 🤭 I'm about to do some deep character analysis so pls get comfortable.

As we all know, Ji Yang is the finest specimen to ever walk the lands, in every lifetime no matter how many times he goes through "death and rebirth~" 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 it doesn't matter, my man just gets hotter every time xD

Stinky fox on the other hand... just can't compare to Ji Yang (in every way, but especially in THE LOOKS DEPARTMENT I mean, let's be real here... the ML is smoking hot 😂 no one can compare honestly lololol) so fox boi internalises these feelings of inferiority and it becomes energy... force if you will. Ji Yang, being the GENIUS, HOT, BEAUTIFUL, SEXY BROW prodigy that he is... can sense this energy, thus he is annoyed. 😌
