Everytime I recover from the SCD hangover, you are right around the corner to help me relapse lmaooo, thankuu
LMAOOO I've already watched that promo countless times 😭 Xixi is so ridiculously domineering, he had me thinking of novel Chu San all over again. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON ZHAO. Why is that man looking so unholy sexy?? 🥵
The concerts are on July 24 and 26 in Hong Kong, and both are already sold out! Then they're off to Thailand in early August for the Weibo Cultural Communication Night 2026. After that... the rumors say their schedules are being kept clear so they can slowly start filming season 2, and PLEASE LET THAT BE TRUE. I need that manhandling on my screen ASAP 😭
Everytime I recover from the SCD hangover, you are right around the corner to help me relapse lmaooo, thankuu
Why, thank you! Why recover? Recovery was never part of the plan. Consider this a friendly reminder that season 2 is still on the way, so the hangover is far from over 🤭
can anybody explain me the money scene at the end, with Chu San being surrounded by his kidnappers (?) cheering…
Well, basically, Chu San started talking business with them and showed them how they could make a lot more money, so instead of seeing him as a hostage, they started seeing him as their ticket to getting rich 😂 The money throwing was just an over the top comedic way of showing he'd completely won them over. I think it's one of those intentionally absurd scenes the show uses for comic relief.
Why did no one tell me that it ends on a cliffhanger the fuck? Everyone be suggesting me this drama ALWAYS and…
It hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but a second season is very likely. That was the plan from the start, and the actors have already said multiple times, (I’ve honestly lost count at this point), that there will be one. As you probably noticed, the ending wasn’t just a simple cliffhanger. It left a lot of questions unanswered, and the final episode actually raised even more. That might also be why you don’t really see anyone saying the ending was bad anywhere.
I would love it if the ending was a bit modified though if they are really doing a season 2 but even then to fit…
I really hope we get more episodes for Season 2 as well. I honestly don't see how they could fit the rest of the story into another 9 episode season without rushing it, especially if they want to keep the same pacing as Season 1, which I absolutely loved. Or at the very least, give us a Season 3! (I know that sounds almost unrealistic, but there have been rumors that the series is planned to have multiple seasons, so I'm holding on to that hope.)
And I completely agree with you about the ending. It broke my heart too, but at the same time I really appreciated how realistic it was. Given everything they went through, it would have felt a little too convenient if everything had worked out perfectly right away. Besides, they reunited at their early 40s, which really isn't old at all. They still had the rest of their lives to spend together, and I find that really comforting 💛
That said, I do think the drama will shorten that separation quite a bit. I would be very surprised if they kept such a long time jump. I have a feeling they'll make it a little less painful for us.
As someone who has read both novels, I enjoyed both To My Shore and Double Helix. I think it all depends on the…
I can't remember if we talked back then, but I believe you since I'm still a regular on their MDL page 😅 I'm still desperately waiting for an official Season 2 announcement as well, but I've been following the boys closely, and for now I'm pretty confident it's only a matter of time 😊
As for my favorites, it's actually pretty easy. Sammy's Children's Day and To My Shore are by far my two favorite CBLs. But if someone asked me to choose just one as my absolute favorite, I genuinely couldn't because I love them equally, just for different reasons.
For me, nothing has topped Sammy's Children's Day when it comes to cinematography and chemistry. On the other hand, To My Shore stands out because of its incredibly layered characters and stronger plot execution.
So I have to disagree a little about Double Helix, though. I don't think its cinematography or especially its plot execution surpasses To My Shore's.
I really enjoyed Double Helix too. It was a great surprise. But unlike SCD and TMS, I never became truly attached to it. I loved watching it, but it didn't stay with me in quite the same way.
But overall, I have to say that CBLs have spoiled me. I tend to prefer them over BLs from other countries. There's just something special about the way they tell their stories, and the acting in most of them is much better than what we usually see in BLs from elsewhere. (Yes, GMMTV, I'm looking at you 🤣)
They really didn't need to go so hard just for a concert trailer! This looks amazing. I love the colours and the…
Right? They really treated it like a whole mini film instead of just a teaser. The way they build atmosphere with the colours and those little almost silent moments makes it feel way more emotional than it needs to be in the best way. And the chemistry is honestly doing most of the storytelling on its own at this point, it’s kind of ridiculous 😩 Also yes, those hand close ups are such a deliberate choice, it instantly makes everything feel more personal and charged, like you’re right in the middle of something you’re not supposed to be watching 😏
Well, the story is set in late 80s Kowloon Walled City, so the whole atmosphere is really dark, chaotic and kind…
Haha, actually, I'd say the bottom is the more dominant one at the beginning, at least personality-wise. But as their relationship develops, they become much more balanced. The top is more confident and usually takes the lead, but he isn't bossy or controlling. I wouldn't describe him as overly dominant.
can someone tell me about the series? (it's okay if there are spoilers..)
Well, the story is set in late 80s Kowloon Walled City, so the whole atmosphere is really dark, chaotic and kind of claustrophobic in a good way. It follows a university student who just wants to study and stay out of trouble, but he gets dragged into the triad world when a powerful gang figure basically forces him into helping with a money laundering scheme disguised through a film project. At the beginning it feels very much like he’s completely out of his depth and just trying to survive day by day in this world he didn’t choose. The dynamic between them is very tense, almost controlling at first, with a lot of power imbalance and mistrust. What I personally liked is how slowly that shifts. It doesn’t suddenly turn soft or romantic, it just gradually becomes more complicated, like they start relying on each other in ways they don’t really admit. There’s still all the crime and gang politics happening in the background, but the emotional layer quietly builds underneath it. It’s definitely more of an intense slow burn crime drama than a “cute romance”, but the relationship development is what makes it really interesting to follow.
I’m not really into spoilers, but I’d honestly just say give it a chance. I genuinely think it’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in this genre overall, not just BL. The characters are so strong and dynamic, the chemistry between them is insane, and the performances are almost flawless. On top of that, the cinematography is just gorgeous 😊 It’s one of those shows that really pulls you in once you start it.

No, I don't agree that Double Helix is trash either. Quite the opposite, actually. Like I said, I enjoyed it a lot, and it was definitely a very good production for a low budget BL. That's why I said I agreed with you about them toning down Lu Feng in the series. What I meant was that it didn't have the same depth of character as To My Shore. I probably didn't phrase that very well. I do agree that To My Shore set the bar incredibly high, and maybe that's why I find it hard to compare it to other BLs of a similar kind. That said, I absolutely hope they keep giving us more unapologetically dark shows like these, just as you said. By the way, I only just noticed your profile picture, and I have to say, it looks like you have great taste 😉

Agreed. A Round Trip to Love was one of the most difficult reads I’ve ever come across. Overall, I liked Double Helix, definitely much more than the novel, but even so, it doesn’t compare to To My Shore. I also agree with the others on this post. To My Shore it’s superior in every aspect.
visuals, chemistry is soooo good I'm still waiting for s2 (ik we're not getting that s2)💔
There is still plenty of hope for a second season. Everything seems to point to it being only a matter of time before we finally get that long-awaited official announcement. Of course, I don't want to raise anyone's expectations too much just because I'm feeling optimistic about it.
