Both have amazing cinematic kiss scenes. I might be a little biased about TMS since it's my absolute favourite BL series, but I wouldn’t compare them, I’d suggest watching it and see for yourself 😁
I can't figure it out, since nothing from episode 5 was on the novel 😅
They are, but they did not meet exactly like that (although they did have a one night stand). That meeting between the two of them and Xie Jia Hua’s father never actually happened. It was much more confusing in the series compared to the novel.

I loved the novel, I’m actually on my way to reread it, but I also like the series, so I don’t mind the changes. As long as they give us a proper ending, I’m fine with how it’s going.

I was thinking about what I went through with The Only One too, and also with the Chinese BL Stay With Me (or maybe bromance? I’m not sure, it feels like something in between). I’m already patiently waiting for any updates on the special for To My Shore, but I’m slowly starting to lose hope 😔 Still, as much as I loved the novel, I really enjoy the series so far, and I hope it keeps being this good until the end.

I’ve recently finished the novel and, although I loved it so freaking much, I agree with you. The episodes aren’t enough to cover it. Not even 20 episodes could cover the novel imo. I don’t get my hopes up for a second season, especially from China, so I’d rather have a wholesome story, even if it takes a completely different direction from the novel.
Ep 5 was not according to the novel at all As a novel reader I was expecting the series to go with the novel I'm…
You speak my thoughts! I don’t know where they’re going with the script—today’s episode had nothing from the novel! But of course, I still loved it. Maybe it’s for the best. I’d a thousand times prefer them to take the story in a different direction and give us a wholesome ending, rather than leave us on a cliffhanger or promise a second season that never comes.
Well you're in the minority, so...Do your thing ig and drop it.
Good for you, you did the right thing. I think it’s a big waste of time to watch a show you don’t like, even if everyone else is praising it. That said, I still believe there’s a difference between not liking something and being able to recognize whether the acting is good or not, or whether the script is tight or has flaws. At least for me, I can separate those things. There have been times when I liked a show even though the acting was mediocre or even bad, and I could still see that, but I enjoyed it anyway. In this case, I feel like you’re not really separating those two. Objectively, the show has a very strong script and the actors do a great job portraying their roles. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it bad. And that’s not about anyone’s opinion, it’s just an observation.

Well, when did I accuse you of telling everyone to hate it? I just replied to your comment suggesting you could drop it if you don’t like it. There’s nothing wrong with that, everyone has their own taste. But you can’t say a show is bad when almost everyone else likes it, just say you don’t like it, which is totally fine. You’re free to like or dislike anything.
If you scroll down the comments, you’ll find it since I’ve posted it many times. They’re currently translating it, it’s pretty good, and they’re almost finished.
Extra 2: The story of Xiao Lu
Still, as much as I loved the novel, I really enjoy the series so far, and I hope it keeps being this good until the end.
