So despite that, breaking top 10 in 9 Asian nations is a big achievement. A needy and uncompromising director can control all of those things. RJE is not big or popular enough to improvise. And not saying she is top tier. But not bad either.

Let's say it was Ahn Eunjin instead of RJE. How is she supposed to invent emotions which we are not aware of ? The showrunners did not build up any dynamic between the leads, and decided to give the male lead more dynamic with the baby. The promos also focused on the ML and the baby. I am sure you have watched Dynamite Kiss. Compare her performance there versus My Dearest. Or Good bad Mother.

Weak script, bad directions can justify bad acting specially when you know, that the actors are capable of more. Say that to Travolta and Forest Whitaker for battlefield earth or Oscar Isaac in X Men Apocalypse or Bradley Cooper/Emma Stone in Aloha.

I never said Bale/Adam was bad, I said, their acting were not enough to save the movies. And they are industry leaders in terms of performance.

With a good script even a mediocre actor can shine, like Myung soo in Angels last Mission. He is decent but Shin Hye sun is levels above so when they were together, it felt jarring. Yet the drama is nice.

I don't think that movie had any bright spots tbh, but yea, with a good story, I am sure RJE will do better. What I am saying is, Bale, Driver etc are acting titans and yet were not enough to lift those trainwrecks.

You can still watch it. It has a great start, and a pretty good end. In the middle, the showrunners experienced brain farts.

I think she's a decent actress it's just she chose questionable scripts in the recent years. She was pretty good in Our Beloved Summer and I absolutely loved her performance as Hong Si A in 18 again.

Sometimes, the acting prowess is not enough to salvage a weird script. Exhibit A, Christian Bale in Thor Love and Thunder. Adam Driver in Megalopolis. So on so forth..But I agree, she should take a break and reevaluate.

SK should learn a thing or two about propaganda dramas from China. At least they add heartwarming romance to their propaganda plots. This is not a bad show but the audience had expectations of cheesecake but somewhere along the way, the showrunners left them holding fruitcakes.

Yes there are much much worse with higher scores but I'd say for this one with hype, people had high expectations. That came down crashing leaving a bad taste. The score will stabilize after a long time but yea, bang average.
