The relationship dynamic between Ye Xian and GJZ and YY reminds me of Journey to Love. The SML there was incredibly destructive and wilful at times but the leads always guided him towards becoming a political pillar and mature. It seems like that’s the case here too especially with Yan Yun and Ye Xian.

Title Blood River Spoiler
The novel, i think, was completed back in 2024, and adaptation covered all major arcs. Zhou Munan plans to continue…
Blood River is an alternative universe (according to the author) so SCH isnt dead anyway moving forward compared to Blood of Youth. There is alot he can do now with his works without impacting the sequence of events in Blood of Youth

Title A Splendid Match Spoiler
Can you not post novel spoilers without marking it?!
Exactly. I don’t understand why they post these when the show is currently airing. They think because there are some changes in the show compared to the novel that people won’t be bothered. It’s just inconsiderate

Without spoiling the plot (I know the show already had many changes) , can someone let me know if Ye Xian is going to be evil at the end? Or eventually be on the good side even if he doesn’t side with the ML?

Exactly, like let TJR be @GJM! . I really want to see him act in costume drama by another director and writer…
He’s incredibly talented but unfortunately that’s all you see on Weibo & rednote and it’s such an unfair portrayal. Fortunately he has some upcoming dramas with other directors which I’m looking forward to. I hope he can move past that image. I’m keen to see him in different genres, especially costume dramas. I think he’d be great in a political drama playing a young and manoeuvring emperor.

Yes I know. He is also a supporting character in ZSX upcoming show. I am glad he allowed to branch out but I have no doubt GJM will still try to use him in all his works.

GMJ is really locking Tian Jiarui and Yan an in his basement because why would they come back if the whole original…
Exactly, like let TJR be @GJM! . I really want to see him act in costume drama by another director and writer and how he would show his talent there. On top of that he will be able to show his talent without the favouritism tag following him.

I doubt ZSX will return but we will see
I don’t doubt they will try and get the full cast to return cause as you said, it would be ridiculous if even one is missing. It’s whether the full cast want to return 😂.

Tbh reporters are ruthless and they even asked ZSX about the screen time issue so might just want to avoid that all together

It’s possible. Realistically the story has essentially finished. What more can be told for the villain who has been destroyed unless it actually wasn’t?

Even then maybe JJY and TJR may return but with the backlash from their cfans I doubt ZSX and CDL will return.

Title Veil of Shadows Spoiler
i agree and disagree. i think Joseph had his moments especially the stone arc and the ending ! but i agree in…
Wu Shiguang should be stronger. He is the dragon that countless people sacrificed their lives to bring back. His nine brothers were needed just to seal Jiu Ying, so even if he isn’t the wisest due to age, he should still be overwhelmingly powerful. Guo Jingming completely broke his own world‑building by turning Ji Ling into the center of everything, even in the final battle.

The entire premise of the show was built around the dragons, their sacrifices, and the century‑long struggle. Yet the final battle ignored all of that and made Shiguang rely on Ji Ling. It makes the earlier sacrifices feel pointless.

The show was never about teamwork. Both couples operated separately for almost the entire story, and even the sisterly relationship stopped being explored toward the end. There was never a deeply developed bond between Shiguang and Ji Ling either, even though Shiguang acknowledged her efforts.

Guo Jingming didn’t just weaken Shiguang, he undermined the entire foundation of his own narrative.

Viewers actually did the calculation of screen time for the four main leads. CD & ZSX got 52 minutes of screen…
I feel the same way. I’m a fan of all four leads, so this was basically my dream drama cast, even though Joseph is my personal favorite. I would never drag the actors because their performances were outstanding. The problem is Guo Jingming. He is genuinely terrible at handling story structure.

The final battle is what really pushed me over the edge. How do you ruin the entire premise of your own show? Multiple characters sacrificed themselves for Shiguang to stand on his own, yet they still made him rely on Jiling. What was the point of everything that came before? They destroyed the meaning of the dragons and the century‑long conflict.

The screen time was much more balanced in the first ten episodes, but in the later episodes CDL and JZ basically disappeared. There’s a joke that if you see them in the teaser, that’s their entire screen time for the episode, and honestly it’s true. There are whole episodes where they show up for barely a minute. Episode 23, barely there. Episode 24, barely there. Episode 25, not there at all. Episode 26 finally give them something, but theb back to nothing after.

Go back and check those episodes,it’s unbelievable that GJM did this to actors of that caliber.

It is. The drama has some negative heat in China due to Guo Jing Ming’s favouritism and he hasn’t yet addressed it. Even Joseph had to address it when asked at an event. It’s ridiculous. If you point it out here they attack you but the show itself advertised itself as a double main leads with equal screen time. Before the show aired everyone on here said the same. Now people take constructive criticism as an attack only on MDL.

This is it. 52 minutes of screen time compared to TJC and JJY who got 216 minutes. That’s what I’ve seen on Weibo. The disparity wasn’t so bad in the first half but got considerably worse as the show progressed in the second. I was actually the biggest defender of the show because I thought the screen time would balance out eventually in the second half. He’s the last dragon son so surely he’d have more importance but no, not even in the final battle.

No hate to any of the actors; they’re all phenomenal. However, Guo Jing Ming can kick rocks.

It’s all over Weibo. In fact, there’s a hot topic showing the disparity. If you don’t want to believe it, that’s your choice but it’s happened and the disparity is obvious throughout the whole drama. You don’t need to get defensive about facts. I can even give you the hashtag to search yourself.

His character should have been more important especially in the final battle. The entire series revolved around the sacrifices of multiple characters to obtain the dragon power needed to defeat Jiu Ying. Yet he needed Jiling’s help to win? This made all those sacrifices seem pointless and his character appear weak. Furthermore, the trend of Joseph and Chen Du Ling only speaking and their conversations revolving around other characters is just one example.

Guo Jing Ming should be fined for deceptive marketing seriously.

Joseph Zeng and Chen Du Ling should never work with Guo Jing Ming again.

He’s ridiculous and the disparity is seriously laughable. Initially, I didn’t understand the complaints but the last nine episodes truly take the cake.

The acting is incredible from the entire cast but the storyline would have been much better if all the characters had been fleshed out.
