I'm coming to this super late but I always thought that they thought he had the best chance of survival within the games and less about his life outside of them. while chota is smart, he lacks the courage and quick-thinking that arisu has. as for karube, while he is physically strong which would help him in a lot of the games, he doesn't have the intelligence that arisu has. arisu is a good mix of athletic, brave, and intelligent, which meant that he would do the best in the games out of the 3 of them. i also agree with the other comment though that they, especially chota, did not want to be responsible for the death of their friends. that ep fucked me up man :'(

i hope it does surprise me! i'm definitely still going to give it a chance because the cast looks pretty strong and it is still a pretty unique storyline. i just hope that gmm will handle drag culture with care. sometimes i've been pleasantly surprised by gmm shows and other times i've been let down by them, so i hope this one will be the former.

i wouldn't necessarily call someone a drag queen just because they are in drag a single time. what i mean is drag is a huge part of queer culture, even though not all drag queens are queer men (or trans women) the majority are. i just think it would have been nice to showcase a feminine gay man as the main character in a show centered around drag culture as it would've been a huge opportunity for gmm to break out of their usual content. it kind of seems like once again feminine gay men and trans women will be the butt of the joke/comedic relief, at least that's the impression i got from the trailer, and instead the spotlight will be given to a cis het romance. i just kinda see it as a missed opportunity. i hope this clears it up!

i'm kinda surprised by all of the negative comments here! i personally thought this drama was super cute. i loved literally every single character, especially ju kyung. was it cliche? yes, but i didn't mind that at all bc that was what i was expecting going in. it might just be because i'm new to kdramas, but i personally loved it.

(side note: does anyone wanna recommend some other kdramas for me to try? i've been watching lighter things recently, but i like all genres so it can be anything! thank you:))

actually, WYEL is the "parent story" to this, as it is set in the same universe. pil hyun is in both, as the classmate in wyel and the ceo in this show, which is presumably set a few years into the future. hope this helps!
