I went back a couple months worth of comments, and it was all about dropping it after the cliff scene and what not or the ending. In terms of the plot, the book is better but the ending is still the ‘same’. This is for future or revisiting viewers who were disappointed with the ending.
What the hell was that Open Ending ? What was the novel's ending, the drama really started off good but went on…
In my opinion, the ending of the book is a little lacklustre but it’s better than the drama. It seems they diverted the plot line towards the ending, I haven’t watched. Sorry, it’s months late lol. Essentially, fl fled the country, a lot of things happened between ml and fl, she realised he was making plans to go to war with her country whom her brother was going to take over the thrown. She was pregnant but didn’t believe it bc she was poisoned and was told it would make her infertile. He chased after her and gave her some ‘antiabortion’ meds, as she was at risk, they reached her country, they ‘fought’ the war and then made a treaty, her bro ascends the thrown. Ml realise the poison can’t be cured and they leave to live in a secluded place for her to give birth and spend out their days together while she’s alive. The ending is that she gives birth but doesn’t die bc the baby absorbed the poison from her. Her master took the baby to try to cure the poison as it was still young and no one told the fl her brother died from the same poison but bc he wasn’t young enough, he couldn’t be cured. The extra chapters goes into details about them meeting ml family and how estranged the ml before becoming who he was. There were one chapter about the ml ‘body double’ too and his love life.
Things start shifting in the 2nd half towards the finale, I’m on the fence as to whether I like these changes.…
Yh you’re not the only one, back then, people had theories that she was his daughter! He always had a soft spot for her. They may remake S2 idk. Happy watching! 🙂

Are you watching with subs? I’m not so it’s not super accurate as to what exactly they’re saying, sorry. 😭 Aim was kidnapped as a child along with the uncles daughter and others. She gave the hair pin to Aim which is why she had it but doesn’t remember much bc it’s traumatic. I think they tried to outrun the kidnaper but the daughter was captured and Aim escaped. The uncle knows about it bc they did a dna test on the pin I think and they go to the place where she was held. The kidnaper was released from the police and found Aim at the location. He took her hostage on a bridge, Tham and others tried to negotiate but the police shot him, he fell over the bridge and grabbed Aim at the last minute, they searched for her in the lake but couldn’t find her. That guy ended up showing up at the village, they lock him up and practically beat him up and burned his soul. Tham wouldn’t believe Aim had died, and it ends with Aim showing up at the entrance of the village behind Jimmy who had stepped outside the entrance boundary, Aim gives Tham a hug.
The uncles daughter is dead. Aim is up to interpretation. It looks like they’re doing the same thing like they did to Chat where she could be hanging on and is temporarily there in the village or she is dead but the village has changed bc Jimmy could also walk out.
Plotwise, it’s interesting, not too bad but I think only having 8 eps that’s only 45 ish mins means it’s too fast paced and short. I like the plot but can’t see much chemistry between the leads either. I’m so used to watching longer kdramas running more than an hour for 20eps, this change is like getting into low budgeted shorts that’s edited for longer. I think it’ll pick up by ep 3.
The ending is a little different from the OG S1 version. If I were to watch this blindly, I’ll say it’s almost…
Things start shifting in the 2nd half towards the finale, I’m on the fence as to whether I like these changes. Ie, Lada and Tham’s mother turning into evil spirits, needing both Tham and Chat to ‘cleanse’ them up. Chat was on the verge of death and somehow ended up there, convenient for the plot. The GB construction thing seemed too big of an issue for the way it ended and capturing Lada killer was lacklustre. The whole thing with Aim’s background is nice but her being ‘dead’? She wasn’t even meant to die. I guess the ending is to signify the change in tone of the plot bc S1 ended with a scene showing us places exist with spirits in them other than the village. Aim, Jimmy and others are no longer bound to the village?
What I liked most though was how the grandma was shown buried in cement as oppose to everyone else in abandoned buildings. It showed how much resentment he had for her, how ruthless he is as a killer and to hide his crime. I just wished they could have helped more spirits, I was looking forward to the lady in boran clothing. Even the og ml interacted way way more in the village. To me, this adaptation isn’t as plot oriented like the og but on the leads relationship connected to that village.
Ahhhh!! Woojoo is going to daycare already! And he’s so well behaved. Even the in law is having a crisis feeling like something is missing, dropping him off. 😍 He then proceeded to nitpick ‘problems’ with his own apartment.
Amy Choo really be out here having marriage problems but is secretly also a matchmaker?? 😂
A HE, not bad but not good either. The plot is somewhat unique, execution is ok, likewise is the acting and actors, editing needs a little more work, props and background is nice and OST is standard. Dodgy subs = MangoTV
Noooo!! I was slapped with 2nd hand embarrassment from the in law FALLING in front of the 1ST LOVE! 😂😂 Never again will he ever do that.
Also, never reject help when offered. That tent stood for 1 second before it fell apart. I felt like I was third wheeling in that outing of theres, especially that confession at the end.
A HE. Am I a little tad annoyed on how it ended? Yep. It’s ok, not bad but could have been much much better. What do I mean? I expected something like The Princess Royal x A Dream Within A Dream mashed up together sort of thing.
Overall, Plotwise, it’s a rather unique theme to this popular genre. The second half could’ve been more fleshed out like ex. the rebellion. I really liked that one carriage scene with the names and terminology explained by YWY and CEO Dan laughing at her about it. I got to learn something new from that ep and that very last scene where he asked her to marry him, modern style was pretty nice.
I’ve noticed this especially in cbooks. Everything and everyone are all alphabets.
I read a lot of books, most English works have names even when they’re so insignificant, and if copyright was an issue, they’ll change it to something similar. It wasn’t until I started reading more c and k books that I realised they couldn’t be bothered naming even a guard or city lol
I unlocked like 20+ stages of sad because I really felt for all these 2D characters deaths. I was prepared for…
So much was happening, I was expecting those deaths but yh, it still hurts to see people like Yonger being stabbed so easily and she didn’t even have a proper grave, just floating adrift in the ocean unlike that envoy man who were killed at the border. 😭 I was actually focusing on how fast everything seems to have happened. Prince Duan dethroning CEO Dan after the ED died (which btw felt like we didn’t get enough of her suffering) was so quick, and that boulder being dropped on him lets him off way too easily lol.
