The first episode was a visual spectacle. Great CGI although I recognized the same effects used on The Starry…
good thing so many people here mentioned starry love. I still have that drama on the shelf, not watched yet, that will help me to tide over the days without new eps of this one!
Its difference between Iqiy and YouKu style, Iqiy always has more soft color grading. If this drama make it that…
i have been a huge LBFAD fan from last year, but quite honestly, i find it very, very difficult to compare those two dramas so far. sure both MLs had shitty childhoods, blabla, lots of abuse from the people who were supposed to take care of them and son on, but still. i find the tone of the story telling to be completely different so far. so, not even once did i caught myself comparing this one, with LBFAD .
i love the CGI of both series though, no matter what grading or color is used..
as far as my opinion goes, nearly any Cdrama the last 5 years has been better suited to my taste, then what came out of America for TV shows (except movies. still addicted to hollywood movies. no chinese movie , even big budget ones, has reached the level of lets say, the tom cruise blockbusters such as Mission impossible or Maverick or upcoming Fast Furious series. )
How is it guys? I am so excited. I cannot wait to watch it. Is it available with subs yet?
i was afraid after all the building up hype, that it might disappoint, but so far (i am only 2 eps into it yet) its gorgeous! the CGI and FX is to die for! the story is still a little bit confusing to me, but i am sure, things will be clearer with more eps.
Primordial Spirit of Demon Lord. Technically every immortal have primordial spirit. As easier example Jinmi Ashes…
thank you so much! this makes it somewhat clearer to me, though i am still not entirely sure. is the spirit like some neutral thing, and depending on in which direction one cultivates it, (good or evil) , it will go in that direction? or does it have a will of its own, and override your own wishes?
can someone, who has read the novel, explain to me, what about the concept of that evil bone, that they are talking about? i have watched the first and second episode, twice, but like, I cannot grasp what they mean with this evil bone? thank you!
I know this is off-topic, but I've loved Michael Ende since childhood, thanks for bringing him up :DAlso, I think…
considering that half my comment above was more or less, off topic, i have no higher moral ground to stand on :D
yeah, Micheal Ende's stories are universal (just saying Momo and the the men in grey - time stealing monsters in human skin existed LOL, since we humans existed. We humans are what i called hybris beings. we always want to aspire to be more than we are, thats why we are doomed to fail. we just can hope, to fail better each time, when we fall down.).
as someone, who grew up appreciating different cultures (all of them at one time or another, were nations, and cultures, that killed a lot, or were victims. Germany, Japan, China, USA, , and Vietnam. being myself from various cultures, yeah, storytelling is more than anything, what differs us from animals. )
anyhow. i hope, the future will bring us many many more fascinating c-dramas. LOL, america is currently worrying about tiktok brainwashing their youth. they are right to be worried, but maybe they should not just look at tiktok. I am neither young anymore (44yr old woman here) nor am I from us, but up until i (re-)discovered chinese dramas, i was watching US shows. for 3 years now, i have stopped watching US shows, but only chinese dramas. americans should worry, just not only about tiktok ;-D
from all your dramas described above, i only know joy of life, and here, I don't mind the cliffhanger ending, coz the novel itself has been completed, and I was reading the entire novel before watching the drama. it would be nice, to have a season 2, just to see, how much further they changed the character, coz the novel description is in some parts different than how they made them appear in the drama.
i don't have a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson , but one of my favorite quotes from my childhood ( I am of Chinese descent, but I was born and grew up in Germany) is from the Michael Andreas Helmuth Ende , author of the (I think also ) world-famous novel "Neverending Story" (filmed by Hollywood 30 years ago or so): "every true story is a neverending story".
that's also why I never mind if producers change original IP, or why I have been reading fanfiction for nearly 30 years already. I think, each and any variation of a story is valid and should be allowed to stand on its own, without the overshadowing looming of the original source. sure, you need to acknowledge the original source, and of course, I understand the worldly problems such as copyrights and IP issues , not to mention monetary and financial constructions behind it. but on a higher context, humans have been retelling old stories and archetypes since, well dawn of our mankind. sure enough, how we see and depict what is heroic varies from age, and decade and also from culture. (surely Chinese party view and paints heroes different than American, and Germans with their troubled Nazi WW2 past, prefer to never need any "heroes" and "saviours" anymore ) , but overall, the underlying archetypes , whether "Journey to the West" or "lord of the rings" , its about what we aspire to be.
For goodness' sake! They chose to change it for good reason-there is another drama with that name already!
thanks for pointing, interesting! i must have failed with the search function at MDL, when i entered love when the stars fall, there was no other drama shown up here? can you kindly point me to the other drama with that title?
I only watched the first two, but that whole genetic thing seem to have been added for censorship reasons. So…
thank you very much!
that helps! it doesnt make my heart racing, but definitely interesting enough, also because i did like the message and concept, that gattaca back then, tried to relay.
meaning, genes, society, disposition, upbringing, fate, family , friends, life experience and so on, all have influences and can be explanations , but generally none of them should serve as an excuse for our our (bad or good) choices as humans.
I only watched the first two, but that whole genetic thing seem to have been added for censorship reasons. So…
thanks a lot! it sounds interesting, even if its solving cases stuff, (plus the trailer i saw somewhere looks sleek), but i am still having some older, completed dramas on my shelf to watch.
so i will wait, until here are more reviews appearing, before i decide whether to add this drama :)
sadly, i cannot remember, where i saw better summaries, but what I have been reading this week, reminded me vagely of those American Sci Fi movie "Gattaca" (very old, 1997)? something about that genetic disposition does have some influences, but will and should not determine who we are and what we decide to become?
so sci fi with philosophical touch?
would be great, if someone, who has access to the first released 8 episodes and has watched them, can confirm, if that's the general direction of the storyline?
There are a few who have commented that they think the same as you before :) I also find the previous name good…
aww, thanks for pointing out! the discussion thread is already at near 1900 comments, so ididnt went back, to read if someone else already pointed that out!
good to know, i am not the only one, finding the new title... bland.
but of course, you are right, as long as the drama is good, the title is rather unimportant. but having titles, that might come straight out of a love poem? does make them more memorable (like ashes of love, love and redemption and so on) :)
am i the only one, who finds, that the initial title "Love when the star falls" much more poetic and beautiful ? somehow I fell in love with that title, before I knew what the drama or story is about, or whoever is playing in it.
What is this about? The kisskh synopsis is ... not really helpful.
maybe they deliberately made the summary obscure and vage, so that they fly under the radar, and no one thinks of this drama as a show, that has bromance or bl elements?
Who else is starved for some more Li Hong Yi after the blood of youth? Still hopeful this one will air soon too
I do!! sadly wulin heroes isnt doing much for me, so i checked out his older drama from 2019 "spring-flower-autumn-moon" , that one was cute, but still not the level of greatness of Blood of youth.
alas, i will be rewatching blood of youth, until something new from him comes out.
While we're waiting, for another historical / political drama that has good bromance, I recommend Secret of the…
that drama was great! i loved both the main leads, but now that you mentioned Cao Pi, yeah, that role was not big, but pretty important, especially at the end.
with chinese entertainment industry churning out SO damn many actors and actress every year, its pretty hard to keep track, but yeah, i hope, he will keep on climbing up the ladder.

ähh, not really.
not bad, but kind of predictable and so far, nothing new or novel.
its lots of clichees...
plus, it didnt age well, i mean you see that its an older production.

starry love sounds sooo... comedian?
ps. thanks for the mkdrama link, i had the site, but saved it with .com at the end, and i see why i lost their url, they changed to .org!
alas, i will be rewatching blood of youth, until something new from him comes out.
