like i said, i am kind of the elder folks here, and i turned my back on asian enterntainment after i finished my university studies in 2003/2004, and started to work (well of course, despite born and grew up here in Germany, i do turned out more or less, LOL , very typically chinese: go study, gain face for the family and make tons of money. ) . the last shows i watched from China and hongkong were around 2007-2008. after that, its been up until Nirvana in fire 3 or 4 years ago, only work.
i guess, with the past bloody war history between SK, Japan, China, Vietnam and all other asian countries. conflict on the political level is to be expected all the time. I just didnt realize, Until the stuff with this chinese male actor zhang?zehan? who was banned because of some pic in front of some japanese shrine? , that the politics would spill over to entertainment.

who cares what those actors earn? no asian actor is on the level of some hollywood american dumbass actor , who is popular.
i like leonardo di caprio, and i like timothee chalamet or whatever, i just dont think, they are the most brilliant actors of this century or the last. and yet, both of them earn 100x times more than any chinese or SK actor. payment in entertainment industriy is plain dumb, but then chinese goverment with still some sort of alien concept of communistic or nationalistic ideas is plain dumb..hmm thinking of this, it fits. LOL dumb and dumber, they fit together.

anyway, thanks for explaining a bit of background for me, at least now i realize, you were not being sarcastic or joking.

its kind of sad, now that i got a taste of K-dramas, it would have been nice, to see my some cool k-actors colab with c-actors.

considering that in my teenage years, i watch the original beverly hills 90210 show, and then later in my 20s, watched the original gossip girl show?

i am more or less fine , especially in my forties, with doll like characters! (did i mentioned that i am looking forward to the hollywood barbie movie blockbuster next year LOL?)

but alas, probably just wishful thinking from me. sadly, the drama has to be somewhat appealing on a personal subjektive level to me, otherwise, even the combined power of lets say, the untamed stars, and dilraba and yangyang could not save me from running away.
(best example, i couldnt power through those recent shows like "love like a galaxy" or "blue whisper" or "immortal samsara". NONE OF THEM worked, even though they had plenty of pretty dolls. ähh no, pretty actors. its been so frustrating after love between fairy and devil, that NONE of those dramas were working from me, and real life has been SO SHITTY, I COULD LIKE SHOOT MYSELF in my brain, i need distraction so badly. )

anyway, ramblings, i am just so glad i found reborn rich, at least, rewatching the old eps, i can shut up my brain with real life problems.

well for me, a middle aged woman of 43 years, who did study economics and law nearly 25 years ago, who is of half chinese-half vietnamese origion, but was born and grew up in Germany?

and knew nothing about south korea, despite now using samsung smartphones, having LG and other korean electronic brands in my apartment?

and who does have interest in politics and economy and famous business family clans, both in germany as well as from other countries such as SK?

this show is riveting.

but thats just my 2cents.

you are my glory with her and yangyang is the only c-modern drama i have rewatched for my fav parts LOL, even if the story was the silliest in the world, with those two eye candies, i would power through any drama of them!

that bit of 2% romance is totally fine, lol

as long as the family infighting and backstabbing and intrigue stays, the show is still superb!

well i am up to ep 8, and there is barely any romance.
more like calculated love , the little bit of romance is still under 2%.

anything to escape the current boredom that is fantasy c-dramas.

all the chinese censorship and so on, is just getting on my nerves.
jeez, its entertainment, those damn communists should put their damn agenda about morals and ethics and such stuff to the trash bin.

oh, dont worry, i wasnt actually asking for c-dramas, those for the last 3 years, i think, all the wuxia xianxia fantasy stuff, i have checked out all by myself (there were only 3 or 4 modern c-dramas i have watched so far, and none as riveting as reborn rich).

i was really only asking for recs for k-dramas of this sort (revenge, evil winning over other evil sort of stuff).

oh btw "I'm extremely biased when it comes to chinese dramas" what does that mean? you are biased in a good or bad way?
or have very particular tastes?

i have seen under the queens umbrella mentioned in my youtube feed quite often.. honestly i am not sure about historical fantasy k-dramas... i guess my tastes have been warped by fantasy c-dramas? i dont think, the korean costumes are as beautiful as those in chinese dramas... but if the story is great, i might give it a chance.

i will add that and tale of the nine tailed, on my list! (if c-dramas are not getting putting better stuff out, i am going to lose my interest in them soon. )

honestly, watching the c-dramas, and then seeing the fans there always nagging and screaming for some kind of happy romantic end, is granting on my nerves.
i know reality isnt great the last 3 years, and television is for escapism, but truly, sometimes, in fairytales, the good ones just die, and lose. and evil wins.

honestly, i have left US dramas behind me , in favor of chinese dramas!
3 years of nearly nothing but c-dramas!
time to move to other countries, and see what else Asian television has to offer besides the ones i know from my youth (hongkong cantonese cramas, with some tawainese dramas ) and from my family's (atricious gruesome vietnamese dramas LOL, those are still so bad, I would not watch, even if i get paid. )

i do wonder about indonesian, philipines and malaysian or thailand dramas... but alas, a day only has 24 hours, and i am working 12 hours already.

(i wonder if India has any tv dramas? i know they are famous for bollywood cinema movies, but never heard of their television products).

(honestly, if c-dramas arent putting there masterpieces out faster this winter, i am going to convert to k-drama fan! despite LOL being a german of chinese / vietnamese heritage, and former addict to Cantonese Hongkong dramas of the 80/90s)

NIF 2 is...good. Its not a masterpiece as part 1, but then, no drama in my subjetive opinion, has reached that level :)

Hu Ge and the rest of the cast of NIF is just... its been the first drama, where I tried and successfully learned the names of the characters! (and actors later).
