this is my first Korean drama, and I am loving it! i do not know or recognize a single actor or actress in this drama, but all that business talk and rehashing the economy and politics of those decades in South Korea? its riveting and SO exciting (well at least for me, 25 years ago being a business and legal student - back then, we were more busy with dissecting the fall of the Japanese and German economy post-90s decade), plus seeing all the cute cars and old electronics, its just... fun, just like watching "Back to the future", only different!
like ok, it doesn't make me crazy as 4 or 5 years ago, Nirvana in Fire, but no drama since then has reached that level, and all other Chinese dramas after "love between fairy and devil" were not much addictive, so I thought, well, lets give some random K-drama a chance (plus, cries, Germany just blew up the world soccer cup in Qatar, so I needed even more distraction to get out of misery)
anyway, so there are already lots of recs in the recommendation box ... i have already put on my list Vincenzo for holidays. anyone here up to tell me, which additional dramas should I add?
i love themes about revenge, evil people just being evil, or villains against villains, or most characters just being "real" in that sense, that no , good does not trump evil, and sometimes the villains or anti heroes just win, and all the good and moral upstanding people just die, in a nutshell, I don't need happy end.
actually, the more frustrating the ending the better ;D
DAMN if it weren t so annyoing, it would actually be funny.
all those channels, who are constantly putting the most current popular faces of some stars on some older dramas, to make them more popular on youtube, or like in this case, JUST CHANGE THE FREAKING NAME!
i know, its one of the oldest tricks of the world, but not less annoying. newest victim of the success of "Love Between Fairy and Devil"
well, we are soon into december, and no other drama has come along yet, to replace can plan jun! still the best soundtrack, still the most beautiful couple, still the most gorgeous EVERYTHING.
and all that in a drama, that probably no one had on their sight before airing!
(I am still somewhat disappointed in all the other supposed big shots of this year, might it be love like a galaxy, immortal samsara, blue whisper, thousand years for you or whatever. and I don't even know why those didn't work for me, coz I so shallow, it doesn't get more shallow (shallow is my first name AND last name), give me either or both beautiful leads, and that is usually enough for me,... well, not after CLJ).
anyway, why I am here again (apart from the fact, that I am not able to move on, I am still rewatching my fav clips from CLJ, and watching in the loop the trailer for StoryofKunningPalace https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c87lgJIMzBs , with the second male lead Zhang He, and apart from the fact that its a cool trailer, the background music did it totally for me!
hahah, but the dragon animation for the sounds? totally reminded me of that scene in the middle of in ep 1 of Love Between Fairy and Devil , between Shang Que and DongFang, when he came to get Shang Que out of his slumber!
you all, have a great sunday! countdown is running, 4 weeks till Christmas !
You are not alone nothing works like I watch stuff but it doesn't give me the butterflies or OBS this drama gave…
yeah, even the posters and trailers of any unreleased dramas dont look as appealing as usual. i feel like being on cold turkey, I NEED A NEW DRUG; OR THIS INSANE WORLD IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!
well, havent been in theaters for a couple of month, this weekend, wakanda forver it is.
well, like its been ähh 12 weeks or so? i mean, light chaser rescue is a nice distraction, and as for the rest... mehhh. nothing works. i am looking at my 4 Terabyte harddrive with still 30 dramas unwatched, and I get back to watch clips of CLJ and listen to the soundtrack.
damn, its soon Christmas. shouldn't those in charge maybe thinking of releasing any big name dramas already`?
i seriously am sitting here, and thinking, WTF maybe I should return to US shows and give them a chance? maybe the new rings of power, or game of dragons, or westworld or so, isn't that BAD? double damn, I have been so desperate, I have been rewatching that show from 2001 A Step Into The Past with louis koo! (my ancient crush of me tween years, LOL)
gods, i need a new drama to get addicted, otherwise i might start smoking or something worse!
Li Qin or Xiao Zhan well both of their characters are better fleshed out in the later novel chapters.but i dont…
you are so cute, i like shows, and i like actors, and i like XZ and i like WYB and i like Zhang Ruo Yun (ähh I even like this actor who was banned from Chinese government because he, unfortunately, visited Japan , whats his name again..wait a moment I need to search for it --- Zhang Zhe Han .
before your previous comment, I didn't even know that there were shippers of him, that blame XZ for the sequel of JOL no being done.
i am very sure, its not 2020 , coz I am from the stoneage of the internet era , I am from the year 1999, LOL. if you would have bother to look up maybe my last 20 or 30 comments in this forum, you would and maybe could realize, that I don't really care that much about any actor. i like them, but that's more or less all.
but thanks to you, and doing some reading here on mydramalist (as well as of course, still following some other fannish venues), i honestly realize, that i am much much older than you kids nowadays (crap, somehow the years fly faster than i thought, and i am soon 45 years old). the gap between us, and how we perceive certain things, cannot be bridge.
the only thing i can conclude is, comments which i simply file under "negative critique", is nowadays more or less, perceived as hate opinion.
discussion culture, and so on, has chanced since i was in the 20s.
so, i honestly wish you the best, and i hope, that your staunch defense and admiration and being a good fan of Xiao Zhan will help his fame ( I remember he was also blacklisted for a while around then ao3 eclat. the fanfic homepage, which I also have b been reading for 16 years or more). I have been praying for the release of Zhang Ruo Yun drama "fated general" for like 2 years now, and i am more or less gave up hope, that it will ever come.
if you have a knowledge where one could send emails , to beg for release of fated general, i would be ever grateful.
i am just laughing, honestly, how can the title unchained love, sounds more harmless than forbidden love?? its somehow funny and ridiculous but alas, Chinese censorship and sensibilities. whatever, as long as those changes might increase the chances of this not being completely forbidden for being aired, I don't care, whats in a name.
(and anyway, with how bad all the reviews I have been reading this week about the US shows such as the new rings of power or the house of dragons?? no matter how "bad" and lousy any fantasy Chinese drama might be, it still probably is "better" than those US shows. at least, with Chinese dramas, you know, the Chinese producers don't have to deal with pesky topics such as gender, diversity, freedom of speech or such "crap" as gender topics ( I doubt any LSBT*Q issues will play any characters in Chinese drams, right? no matter fantasy or modern dramas)), or if you have too much white people or enough asian, latin American or black actors and other representation issues. its all fairyland "Han" Chinese wonderland, with a sprinkle of uigurs such as dilraba, the height of diversity, LOL).
Li Qin or Xiao Zhan well both of their characters are better fleshed out in the later novel chapters.but i dont…
wow, this is so very fascinating, sometimes stumbling across comments like yours.
i wonder if 25 years ago, when the internet started, and i have only ever been in US shows fandom at that time , if there ever were such shipper wars among US fans and fans of those respective shows.. or blaming of actors for certain sequels not being done?
i really hope, one day, some PhD will write and conduct studies about the early internet years like between 1995 - 2010, and the way fans and fandom developed in USA around US shows (and partially , in Europe) and then the later years, like between 2010 - now, how fandom around chinese dramas are developing and fannish behaviour around chinese fans and fandom , and the international audience, that is following those chinese dramas /or korean or other asian stuff/ that mostly can only participate through using english (LOL, like me, the middle aged woman of Chinese / Vietnamese heritage that doesnt know Mandarin, coz she grew up in Germany).
hmm youtube suggested this for me... it kind of does sound cute and I still need something that can keep me away from watching Can Lan Jun / love between fairy and devil :D
Li Qin or Xiao Zhan well both of their characters are better fleshed out in the later novel chapters.but i dont…
Lol. In a way, certainly, coz i like him as an actor. Not coz He is as pretty as the younger idols. If anything lol. Iam fangirling the old male stars, like here, the actor who played his father 🤣
i've always heard such good reviews about untamed but idk if the genre is what im into? is it just a friendship…
have you watched the normal untamed drama, or the special cut editioin?
coz there are two, i found the normal one (if i didnt know the story before coz i had been reading tons of fanfic prior to even had a glimpse at the drama) to be quite...hard to understand, if you dont have the complete backstory.
now the untamed special edition with onyl 20 eps, was genius! ( the story telling was much tighter , and faster paced, and sure enough they cut out lots of side stories, but that was fine).
after i watched the special edition, i went back to watch the original 50+ eps :D
Unpop opinion: I don't care if they replace Li Qin or Xiao Zhan in the 2nd season. Li Qin is the blandest female…
Li Qin or Xiao Zhan
well both of their characters are better fleshed out in the later novel chapters.
but i dont really think, your opinion is unpopular. i would have rather assumed most of us fans here, did watch Joy of life, coz we liked the story, and Zhang Ruo Yun as the ML. at least me, i did not started to watch this, coz of Xiao Zhan (though of course, i like him in untamed too. but i am too old with 43 yrs, to fangirling any actor or actresses)
anyhow, i dont care who plays those other roles, as long as Zhang Ruo Yun will return in this role.
omg we all have to be immortals, at this rate, if we really are serious to wait for this to air... hahaha omg gosh, probably they will wait , unti ´l the 100years anniversary of the PRC is coming and gone (means sometime after the year 2045...haha dies)
I DONT CARE I will turn myself into an AI or robot, to wait for this (same for fated general, joy of life 2, and snow sword stride 2, as well, for sure,. i am refusing to die, before i can see those sequels)
soooooooooo after 2 month, i have finally moved on... haha a little bit. still hearing the OST in the background all the times, whenever possible.
BUT totally surprisingly, the drama that got me away from them, is not fantasy historical. i just randomly watched om youtube "light chaser rescue" and was somehow immediately captivated by the story! i am not even that big fan of Luo, or know the FL (never heard of her, or saw her before i guess) but the story completely works for me!
so there we go, a modern drama got me away from CLJ :D
i second love like the galaxy. two parts, ignore the bad reviews (most are positive anyways), and fall in love…
second your rec of long ballad. loved that one, even though its not Xianxia.
though i cant say, why long ballad works for me, and not for love like a galaxy. immortal samsara (which is Xianxia) did also not work for me, and i cannot explain why. the set up and props were at least as lavish as here, but still, it didnt click with me. eternal love.... ahh yangmi is indeed a godess!
have you heard her voice, at the end, once she came back to life, and regained her memories as the godess? what…
usually, i would totally be with you, such political stuff has never, in my 40 years ( i watched wuxia and xianxia dramas since i was a toddler, first in the age of Hongkong TVB and later taiwan, and mainland Chinese) of watching asian dramas, my thing. but, NIF somehow had captivated me from the first episode. its crazy.
and yes, I know phoenix rising. watched one or two eps. it did not really capture me the way NIF did. but its still on my harddrive. if there is nothing on the level of CLJ is coming, I might revert to watch it!
have you heard her voice, at the end, once she came back to life, and regained her memories as the godess? what…
well, then you didnt know me 30 - 35 years ago. obviously , i wasnt a teenager yet, but in my childhood, and later on some occasion? i did behave that way. and I am mid forties woman now, and when the situation requires and that kind of "acting" (meaning immature, childish and so on) gets me what i want? i aint for sure above to use that "ohhh i am totally innocent and need help".
but it works for me, coz i am an asian woman, completely living and surrounded by well , middle european white man and woman of the same age range.
their impression of south east asian cultures are one of complete infantilisation anyway, so why not use it to my advantage ;D?
but you are right, probably, no average toddlers do act that way.
i do not know or recognize a single actor or actress in this drama, but all that business talk and rehashing the economy and politics of those decades in South Korea?
its riveting and SO exciting (well at least for me, 25 years ago being a business and legal student - back then, we were more busy with dissecting the fall of the Japanese and German economy post-90s decade), plus seeing all the cute cars and old electronics, its just... fun, just like watching "Back to the future", only different!

thanks for listening to my ramblings :D

here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd4fJSTHdcA
original name "twisted fate of love"
now they changed it to "Love Between Fairy and Demon"
*headdesk*
still the best soundtrack, still the most beautiful couple, still the most gorgeous EVERYTHING.
and all that in a drama, that probably no one had on their sight before airing!
(I am still somewhat disappointed in all the other supposed big shots of this year, might it be love like a galaxy, immortal samsara, blue whisper, thousand years for you or whatever. and I don't even know why those didn't work for me, coz I so shallow, it doesn't get more shallow (shallow is my first name AND last name), give me either or both beautiful leads, and that is usually enough for me,... well, not after CLJ).

and funnily, coz google / youtube can read my mind, I got suggested this on yt:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtQ67stwYoY
(timestamp 0:00 - 3:33, first song)
hahah, but the dragon animation for the sounds?
totally reminded me of that scene in the middle of in ep 1 of Love Between Fairy and Devil , between Shang Que and DongFang, when he came to get Shang Que out of his slumber!
